These are not known to transmit parasites. At least they bite all the time and no-one ever gets sick.

My hyptothesis is that when you let them continue to suck until they're finished, you get less of a bump and less itching and less infections than when you hit them while sucking, because at the end they also suck out most of the anticoagulant "saliva" that they injected at the beginning.

Of course I didn't try it, because they hurt quite a bit. But with mosquitos I've tried several times.
