@queeenpammie I don't, she still does :) I just try and tell/teach her how to put them back (not that she does it yet) Thats why I don't have glass or ceramic down their at the moment. I am planning on getting the correlle dinnerware down there that looks like real stuff but doesn't brake.
@08jaydensmommy08 Thanks Jordan, I am always on the lookout for cheaper alternatives to montessori materials and I found all the glasses from op shops/charity shops for like 20cents each, than I'm not so worried if or when they brake too.
Love the ideas, we have a low cupboard that keeps Annie's snacks in it so she can help her self same as in the fridge the lowest shelf has washed fruit, her size yogurt, and cheese strings
@cassieconnell Yes we 'had' a low drawer with the girls snacks in but I had to recently take it away, Lacey was not eating lunch or dinner because she was forever getting or asking for snacks :(
has any one told you lately that you are a really good mum? I am sure the line to tell you that is around the block! I will just go find the end of the line.... and wait my turn! Good Job, mum!
I love the cleaning basket, I have a kid cabinet too and I am going to use that idea! Have you thought of putting artwork at their level? I'm not sure if you can with Felicity, I have a cruising baby so I'm waiting on that until he is out of the paper ripping stage.
aww, wow our kitchen is montessori and i didnt even know it lol. we have a water filter, my 2 yr old helps himself too plus we have a cupboard where we store all of his bowls, dishes, sippy cups ect. He also has his own 'special' cleaning spray and spounge. Thats cool... i love the way how you did the table and chairs :)
this is so fascinating to me!! I don't have any children and hadn't really thought about montessori. I didn't even realize that montessori was actually a way of life outside of the children's preschool. I love what you have shown in your kitchen! At what age do you think you can allow children to use "real" dishes such as glasses and grown up plates? sometimes when I have my friend's 4 yr old over she asks me for a drink... but I only have grown up dishes. she is afraid to use glass cups.
Oh, Lacey has been using real glasses for about a year now, so from when she was about 1 and a half. We have broken maybe 1 or 2, no biggy. They have both used real plates and bowls from the beginning too. It is so cute watching Lacey drinking out of a mini glass, she loves it too.
great tips!!! I would LOVE to get my montessori kitchen set up and share, Im on the search for table chairs and plates bowls etc. my son is almost walking, did you start before that or after so that they can walk with their own tableware?
@brandi384 Hmmm, in our last house we had the smallest kitchen ever but I still had two low shelves for Lacey under the kitchen sink, so before she was walking but only now has she started setting her own table. I would love to get the corelle bowls and plates because they feel like real dinner ware but don't break, when we have a bit of extra cash that is what i am going to buy.
How do you stop Flick from coming in and pulling out all the bowls and plates?
