I am the nephew of a Thorne Miner...... I was educated under Thatcher.....from a family of long time Labour supporters.....but I must say that in my time I have realised that Mrs Thatcher was a Woman of our times....... She was not appreciated at the time....but looking back on history, the woman took no shit.....God Bless you Mrs Thatcher xxxxx You are the reason I NOW vote conservative xx
it was sailing away, is this the best argument Diana has.... it was their , end of subject... it was not crab fishing it was a milatary threat stupid woman
The way Diana Gould is talking you would't think she is from the UK! bloody hell woman who's side are you on! glad your dead now still left wing bitch! What the hell are you talking about a peace plan! Everything that is wrong about the UK comes from this left wing loser! W
Diana Gould was one of those vocierfously peaceful types who would never have supported any sort of military action. I doubt she ever understood why war can be necessasry. I've never understood the need some people like her have have to make war - a basic and violent act - a passive thing of legal mumbo-jumbo. Ultimately, when Thatcher made clear her intentions about the islands she drew a line in the sand - and over that line any action was fair, including the main-land. She sent a message.
perhaps the rancid old cow diana gould would have been happier for our ships to be sunk,,,, these are the kind of twats dragging this nation down,, war is war and you sink the enemy where and when you find them,, war has one simple goal,, to win!!! which our barve boys did,, deport this horrible cow!
Labor is the same everywhere Gillard in Australia is doing the same thing. And mate the results speak for themselves. Your left labor shit governments tax you and rack up debt
Thatcher was pure Evil - everything she touched turned to shit.
Anyone who praises her is a fool of gigantic proportions and obviously are too stupid or just can't be bothered to look up and assess the history of the causes and effects of her terrible, ego-driven, antics.
@MightyJosh1985 - you're too young to know anything about it little boy. Just listened to your stupid peers and believed them. Try educating yourself.
Tbh...how dare this civvy criticize Thatcher. She's an armchair general with none of the responsibilities but plenty of criticism. If people like this were allowed to run the show the UK would of collapsed centuries ago. I don't know why Thatcher even gave her a second of her time?
lol politicians can't win. Had Thatcher of let the Belgrano go and then days later a UK warship got sunk by the Argie fleet....there would of been hell to pay and Thatcher would of been condemned until the day she died. This is why you can't take Liberals seriously. They will complain no matter what the circumstances are. The Captain of the Belgrano has gone on record as saying he holds no grudge as had he of seen the SSN and had the chance...he would of sunk it within a heart beat
As the liberal in this vid demonstrates....they are not interested in the reality of a given situation. They will argue over technicalities for the sake of criticizing and getting on their high morale horse. The Belgrano was technically just out of the exlusion zone that should never of been declared to begin with (that was a mistake by the government) but it did pose a threat to the task force. I'm pretty sure the Argie fleet wasn't coming to say hello to the Royal Navy lol.
@TheARMAProductions He never said that he didn't exactly hold a grudge. This is what he said: “The sinking of the cruiser was an act of war. It was not a crime. It was a licit most unfortunate and lamentable action. Crime is war. We were in the front and we suffered the consequences”, Captain Bonzo was quoted at the time. He also described the 323 Argentine sailors that went down with the old Second World War II cruiser as “heroes”.
Maggies not getting a roasting here! The Mrs Goold women cant get a word in edge ways and lady Thatcher has the last word.... i dont think Maggie EVER had a roasting! She is the best leader the world has ever seen!
@bakersteven3 Haha - do you feel better getting that off your chest son?
There are so many typos and misspellings in your short three line rant I can only assume you were you drinking while you typed.
Do you have the IQ to realise what a hypocrite you reveal yourself to be when you object to me referring to the lady as "the old bag" yet it is acceptable for you to label me "a rude oxnoxious bastard". You can't even spell obnoxious!!
Fabulous woman with the upmost sense of conviction. Who else has got, or even has had, bigger bollocks to stand up for what is and what she knew was right? Yes u may criticise her but she did what was needed to be done, not make everyone 'love' her unlike the politicians of today, who are so obsessed with twitter followers. When will we get another leader with balls as big as Thatcher's?!!
The sinking of the Belgrano was a heinous act of terrorism ordered by an evil facsist dictator who did more damage to Britain than Hitler ever managed in World War Two.
Sadly Diana Gould passed away recently. Tragically that monster T******r is still alive.
@charliepeebles Your kidding, right?! Your comparing Mrs. Thatcher to Hitler! As a Jew I'm offended by that. Mrs. Thatcher wasn't perfect. But she did a lot of good and tried desperately to save this country from becoming the hell hole it has under a former Labour government. Then again, if your such a fan of that witch Diana Gould, your comments don't surprise me.
@Buffalobigboy69 I can only assume you are not a working class person who lived in Britain in the 1980's. Also you need to read my comment again. I did not compare T*****r to Hitler, I said she did more damage to Britain in the 80's than Hitler did in the war.
T******r was an evil tyrant and I will take your comments with a pinch of salt considering you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're". Learn simple spelling punctuation before posting your nonsense.
@Buffalobigboy69 I'm not kidding and you're obviously not a working class person who lived in Britain in the 1980's.
I didn't compare T******r with Hitler, I said she did more damage to Britain in the 80's than Hitler managed in the war. She was an evil tyrant who crucufied the ordinary people in this country.
Finally you should learn the difference between "your" and "you're" before posting your utter nonsense. Didn't you learn anything at your posh school?
@charliepeebles Pretty sure Hitler made far more damage to Europe than Thatcher (Without the ********) did to Britain, I can't speak from a personal perspective on either, but unless you were born in the 30's before WWII began, you can't comment on whether Hitler did more or less damage than Thatcher. I'm making an educated guess that what Hitler left was more devastating, as it has effected people around the world
@thisistheending T******r inflicted the kind of damage on the UK that Hitler could only have dreamed about. She destroyed our industry, she broke the spirit of the British people and turned us against each other, she divided and devastated communities, left our towns to go to ruin and urban decay, she opressed and eroded our human rights, and not least of all, her political policies left more British people homeless than Hitler's bombing did.
@charliepeebles What so you were around in the 30's and 40's to know this? You were around during the blitz and england bombings? Hitler and his army killed millions of people, Thatcher did indeed leave British people homeless, but at least they were still living. If these are facts (which I doubt they are, it all seems like subjective opinion to me) then show me your resources and I will read and educate myself, otherwise I'm staying with my educated guess that Hitler was worse than Thatcher!
@thisistheending My parents were around in the 40's. The pit village where I grew up was close to the Tyne shipyards so it got hit by a lot of stray bombs. In 1982 T*****r closed our pit instantly creating 80% unemployment in the village. Scores of families were left homeless, the local shops all went out of business and burglary became commonplace. Times were very hard there for years and the older generation kept telling me "things are worse round here now than they were during the blitz".
@TheMrBigBadBrad just watched the maggie film played by meryl streep(excellent). Back to buisness-the miners, via the fuckwit unions, wanted a 35% payrise just before she said enough is enough. when this bit was mentioned in the film everyone that i could see in the cinema looked at one another in disbelief.
@charliepeebles and WHY do you keep using astericks? A facist Austrian who is hated worldwide for his support of unequality to people of different religious standards, of different sexualities, basically anyone who was different...ended up DEAD! Think of the concentration camps, and the war itself...and the numbers that went in and never came out, Hitler surely left more people devestated than Margaret Thatcher did in her Premiership.
@thisistheending Read my message. I was said T******r DID MORE DAMAGE TO BRITAIN than Hitler. In the 1940's Hitler tried and failed to break the spirit of the ordinary British people. In the 1980's T******r succeeded with aplomb.
"It could only be in Britain that a Prime Minister was accused of sinking an enemy ship that was a danger to our navy...in 30 years the truth will come out." - Margaret Thatcher. A politician which this wretched country needed but never deserved. The truth HAS come out.
@VictorOctavian Your absolute right. If the Conservatives ever get voted out, Labor will put Britain back on the fast track to socialism. England, a land were political correctness runs amok already.
Declaration of an "exclusion zone" is meant to warn NEUTRAL shipping. WARSHIPS belonging to a BELLIGERENT nation are fair game ANYWHERE except within a neutral country's territorial waters. Diana Gould's self-righteous carping is, was, and shall always be, disgusting and idiotic. Sinking the Belgrano was entirely legal under the laws of war and was strategically, tactically and morally appropriate under the prevailing circumstances.
International Law is a fluid concept, because we are only equal in the bedroom.Law in relation to ships, sea war and ability to occupy the Falklands it really depends on occupation and ability to hold. Iceland expanded its territorial zone and established 320km economic zones with the ram of its gunboat and the collapse of Tony Crosland's courage and health. Intervention in Syria now can not be justified by any literal reading of UN Law or International Law as a British or EEC court would hold.
The actual truth is that I believe many RN Captains and Admirals would have considered nuclear weapons were justified in the situation that Woodward faced-particulary from the submarines. The entire Royal Navy crucial for holding the Greenland-Iceland- UK gap was in real danger of being lost.At that time I know all USN War College analysis suggested the only outcome could be the destruction of the RN fleet. That is what I also judged in April 1982.
The Naval situation that the RN task force faced at this moment was too dangerous to respect the niceties of international law. Where the exclusion zone was and the direction of the heavily exocet armed Argentina armed surface task force and associated carrier was irrelevant. Woodward was facing a multiplicity of threats -Exocets on ships, bombers and shore sites, 150 A-4, Mirage and Kifr and most dangerous of all he was being tracked by a 209 sub. Hitting with torpedoes was minimum response.
Diana Gould was a stupid, postmenopausal old hag. She didn't have any loved ones on the beach the night of the sinking. No way should that dim witted, ill-informed, fat slag should have been given a soapbox on national TV. And as it turned out, she was completely and utterly wrong, Belgarno WAS attempting to engage in a pincer movement. I'm only sorry that the old witch didn't live long enough to have to eat her own words...and then, hopefully, choke to fucking death on them.
She goes on about protecting her boys but all she did was endanger them by instigating a war. It is just like our war against terror, supposed to keep us safe but puts more lives in danger from war and kills millions more innocent civilians than terrorists ever did. Thatcher makes my skin crawl, just repeats the same statements like a broken record when the lady is trying ask her how she interpreted a ship sailing away as a threat.
@KraftyKris1 What a moron. Argentina invaded OUR territory; they instigated the war. The ship was NOT sailing away as you and this Diana Gould cretin suppose; it was preparing to attack our ships. Don't take my word for it though, the Captain of the Belgrano has already confirmed this as has other members of the Argentine military directly involved in the conflict. But I suppose you know better than the people who participated?
@fozziebear2009 Our territory? How do you think we got it in the first place? By invading it, and now you think they are wrong for trying to take it back? Please explain why you think we have the right to this territory which is thousands of miles away from our country. And the ship was sailing away, the coordinates of the ship clearly show they were sailing away & our government saw this as threatening. Have you even looked at the military coordinates?
@KraftyKris1 When we first arrived there was no one there; so we didn't invade it. Take it back? Argentina didn't even exist as a country at the time of our first landing on the island and many years after either. Proximity to the U.K. is one of the most utterly rediculous arguements of all; France is about 21 miles from the Britain so does that mean we are French territory? The ship was sailing away? It was just maneuvering into an attack formation with an Argentine aircraft carrier. Cont...
@fozziebear2009 What difference does the co-ordinates make? The British government had weeks before told the Argentines that we were prepared to attack anything that was seen as a threat to our troops even outside of the exclusion zone. The captain of the ship has already confirmed what I said and has said MORE THAN ONCE that the sinking was not a war crime but a lamentably ligitimate target. But again, people like you know more about it than the people who were there and the captain of the ship
@KraftyKris1 You're actually a bit of a fucking retard. You're possibly an Argentine with a piece of shrapnel still embedded in their skull? At least I hope you are; otherwise you're just a fucking traitor. On behalf of our troops: fuck you and I spit on you.
@fozziebear2009 Actually the French found the Falklands before the British and Indians may have been there before the French but my point was that the British Empire expanded by taking over hundreds of territories and killing thousands of people and I disagree with the conquering mentality. What are doing fighting on the other side of the planet? The coordinates make a big difference, are you suggesting we can destroy anything we view as a "threat" wherever it is?
@KraftyKris1 so go and cry to the argentine government , they have a nice history of closet facism, us supported dictatorships,t how the fuck do you think the spanish arrived in south america? colonizing every country except brazil? do you think they just walked up to the natives and said hello can we stay a while? you seem thick as shit to be honest.
@fozziebear2009 What if the coordinates were on land? What we view as a threat is subjective and you expect the captain of the ship to give an unbiased account which may lead to him being convicted of a war crime. If Britain invaded France and I disagreed would I be a traitor? You call me a retard then reply to yourself... I think I am wasting my time
@fozziebear2009 "Invade OUR territory ?" jajajaj the best joke I`ve read in this week. The first occupant was effective the French Louis Antoine de Bougainville, who sailed from Saint Malo and came the Falklands in 1764. Based on East Falkland, the small town of Port Saint Louis or Port San Luis. A year later, the English commodore Byron explored Trinidad (Saunders called Porl English), and in January 1766 the British established a port with the name of Egmont.
When the King of Spain received news of the occupation of the islands, claimed against France, which recognized the sovereignty of the Spanish Crown under both the discovery and by the provisions of the Treaty of Tordesillas (1494). Therefore, the French evacuated the April 2, 1767. As the English from Port Egmont, were evicted by Francisco de Paula Bucareli on May 22, 1774.
May 22, 1774. On that date was evacuated Port Egmont and Spain continued to be engaged until shortly after Buenos Aires, the seat of government of the Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata, to break ties with Spain, and took effective control of all territories. The Hispanic era lasted from 1767 to 1811, and during those 44 years, without any interruption twenty princes, some with two or three periods of government.
The islands belonging to Spain, passed by right of succession to belong to the United Provinces of Río de la Plata, initial name of Argentina. This, in assertion of his rights, took formal possession of them on November 6, 1820, in which the Marine Colonel David Jewett, commander of the ship "Heroine", hoisted the blue and white flag in the ruins of Puerto Soledad (ex port San Luis).
@MrDeedee1974 we won the war you lost!!!!! now get over it,, fuck sake the germans are far better and letting things go and we kicked their arse twice,, now piss off and live with it,, otherwise,,, seal your fate and try again!
What happens between the years 1820 to 1833 ? 1) David Jewett, commander of the frigate "Hero" until January 1821, when he asked to be relieved from office. 2) Guillermo Mason, who replaced Jewett, remained with the frigate "Hero" in the islands, until May 1821. 3) From 1822 until 1828 he was appointed military commander Pablo Areguatí. 4) In 1829, was appointed governor Luis Vernet, who remains in office until 1832.
@poetryiscool Just to leap in ;) I see your argument, but surely it's more important to focus on the current situation - wherein the residents wish to remain British - than focus on what happened over 100 years ago, especially when the only real consequences are political/diplomatic, rather than human?
@poetryiscool yes it is our territory and there is nothing you can do about it!!!! if you want a war bring it! if you try in the UN we will veto! you have no options except to accept the falklands are british and always will be goodbye!
@fozziebear2009 YOU invaded Argentinian territory in 1833. In 1982, not A SINGLE English life was lost during "Operacion Rosario". Why didn't she listened to the Peruvian peace plan? Because she had to increase her popularity by a spectacular strike...which costed the life of 323 men. Behave as a gentleman and DON'T insult people who doesn't share your opinion.
@KraftyKris1 "Thatcher makes my skin crawl, just repeats the same statements like a broken record when the lady is trying ask her how she interpreted a ship sailing away as a threat." Ships zig-zag all over the place in warzones as a protection against submarine attack. If you'd been billeted on the beach that night, you'd have wanted the fucker sunk and no mistake. So fuck of back to your Mummy's titty, you little cunt.
@KraftyKris1 Sinking the belgrano took the entire Argentinean navy out of the equation, and since they had an aircraft carrier along with several other ships in there fleet near the Falklands, a lot more people could of died, so. I dare say it that sinking the Belgrano actually saved lifes.
@MrAl3x0o Sure just like killing millions if Iraqi's has saved lives. Your preemptive action certainly has made your country safe. I hope you are happy, actually I don't, I hope you are as fucking miserable as the families who have lost love ones in wars we have unnecessarily started.
@KraftyKris1 Wow, you are a sad bastard aren't you, i bet your're on the dole too scrounging from good honest people if you have time to argue on youtube.
In keeping with the great lady's legacy, Margaret Thatcher's state funeral should be funded and managed by the private sector to offer the best value and choice for end users and other stakeholders. The undersigned believe that the legacy of the former PM deserves nothing less and that offering this unique opportunity is an ideal way to cut government expense and further prove the merits of liberalised economics Baroness Thatcher spearheaded.
miss thatcher , I love your ideas I can't stand my respect for you madam. Yes , you are right. no compromise with enemy , no matter how heavy the cost of a possible conflict would be. my respect all to you Iron Lady.
'Margaret Thatcher's Roasting' ?? Hardly, she just defended herself from a lefty nut, and she did quite well. Would the women rather the invaders had have survived and that the liberators were destroyed ?
@ThorTGoT - a short while before - 1980 - her government passed the Nationality act which removed the right of Falklanders to live or vote or work in the UK - She removed half the garrison and the last 2 navy ships the same year. At the start of 1981 her popularity was the lowest of any leader since the war. It requires serious delusion to think it was anything to do with saving anything except her political career.
@ginganz13 Being in an uncomfortable situation at the time, they were actually up for giving the Islands back, if the Islanders way of life went uninterrupted.Problem was the Islanders didn't want to become Argentine.they withdrew the supply ship Darwin and emphasis was placed on encouraging communications with the mainland, in a bid to make them feel more Argentine than British. The invasion, and trying to forcibly remove sovereignty angered British, hence the war. I am not deluded but informed
"Margaret Thatcher is torn apart by angry citizen Diana Gould" What a fucking joke! At the time in question the Argentinians had the upper hand during the war. Exclusion Zones are not a law written in stone, set out by any Geneva Convention type legislation. The Belgrano was an enemy warship, it deserved to be sunk....end of fucking story.
opposing pointless murder = traitorous; supporting occupation of lands sovereign to native Argentines for thousands of years before the advent of British colonialism = patriotism
@hirudold its against the sailors human rights. Fortunatly the new line of 'Rubberducky' torpedos are nearly ready for use by the British navy for any possible future Argentine conflict. Also, we are removing our soldiers from Afghanistan, and tactically deploying a group of Gay & Lesbian Inclusion Officers, Health and Safety Coordinators, and Sexual Health Community Supervisors into Helmand.
Doesn't matter that it was outside the exclusion zone. The Belgrano captain and the Argentine govt in 94 have admitted it was a legitimate strike. The momentary bearing doesn't mean anything as it can change quickly. Can you imagine if countries agreed not to attack units that were facing away? That would be ridiculous! Maggie protected our boys, shame the socialist freaks can't bring themselves to admit that. History has shown Maggie to be correct. God bless Maggie Thatcher.
Thatcher is just about able to regurgitate populistic slogans: 'a danger to our troops', 'protect the lives of our boys'.
It's beyond pathetic, especially when considering such phrases aren't even hers, they're learned by heart before media-appearances, taken over from the PR-teams.
Of course, the problem is most people have overriding investments in denying reality, they can't handle facing what suckers they are taken for, & ARE. They need to pay their bills working for the economy, need to BELIEVE their kids are receiving a great education, that the medical system helps them stay healthy & that politicians are there for their benefit, turning the world into a beautiful bright place...
How deluded can people get?
She's just a dissociated narcissistic media-creature.
It's amazing how people are simply in denial and always keep on kissing up to authority. Isn't it PERFECTLY CLEAR Gould knows her shit and that Thatcher doesn't mind simply lying her as off, spinning like crazy?
A politician is INHERENTLY corrupt, a morally eroded puppet. They are turned into massive figures by the media, who use phrases like 'Iron Lady' & turn them into huge 'stars', when these people are mediocre. What this episode shows is just HOW mediocre Thatcher was. They all are...
The head of the Argentine Navy in the 1990s, wrote in a letter to La Nación, that the Belgrano was part of an operation that posed a real threat to the British task force, that it was holding off for tactical reasons, and that being outside of the exclusion zone was unimportant as it was a warship on tactical mission. This is the official position of the Argentine Navy, Thatcher had the right under International law to sink the ship.
an angry citizen that has her head up her own arse and doesn't know the rules of engagement. argentina was a dictatorship, they didn't need rules to sink our ships, us british live by bastard red tape. sink the fucking ship that was capable of doing some serious damage even though it was an old ship... good call, it made argentina think twice about using navy.
the fact it was even near the falklands shows it's a threat.
i dont' like thatcher, but she made good call's on the '82 war
The Captain of the Belgrano said recently that he was manoeuvring to attack. So love or hate the fact the ship was sunk, it did protect the lives of British seamen.
Listening to this is amazing, how this stupid femalle gould was even given air time beggars belief. The women, like many of the ignorant clowns commenting here, havent a clue about naval warfare and worse, this cretinous and evil woman gould was quoting anecdotal nonesense pushed out by left wing and socialist rags at the time. It is anathema that even today we have eople who are driven by petty hatred of the Bariness to try and discredit, and not knowing what they are writing about
What is classic about some of the fools who write about the Falklands war, the Belgrano and the conduct of the war negatively, is that they are all none military people. In fact armchair/PC warriors who garner their childish information from Google rather than a history book! What is very clear that most really are pathetic socialist fools who have been indoctrinated to hate Mrs Thatcher..none seem to know why! Either way, they are more ashamed of themselves.
im not so sure this Gould woman tore into Thatcher, I would say the boot was on the other foot, Thatcher was relentless and destroyed her in true form!
@westonlad9272 Thatcher starts with a lie that the Belgrano was not sailing away from the Falklands then just piles on the rhetoric to divert from that lie. True to form indeed.
There's no room for wet liberals like this in war situations. We're either fighting a war or we're not. It's easy to sit in a nice warm studio & pontificate over the rights & wrongs of situations but when our troops have their balls on the line, I'm sorry but we have to defeat the enemy no matter what that takes. Argentina were the invaders here, not us.
The socialists on this video abusing Mrs Thatcher for defending our troops, defending our ships, and engaging in a war which was brought TO US, are utter scum.
If it was down to socialist scum, the falklands would be in the hands of the argies right now, and this country sold down the river to Europe along with the pound.
@Kozzy06 It was Thatcher that made the spending cuts that left the islands virtually defenceless despite noises coming from Argentina that they were planning to take them. One would almost think she engineered it. It certainly gave her failing an unpopular government the popularity boost she needed and allowed her defence minister to fall on her sword for leaving the door open. Its amazing what a bit of jingoistic flag waving can do as far as pull the wool over the eyes.
@psy7ch Another socialist clown who is not qualified, it is amazing how the sheer spite in yoyur hate for Mrs Thatcher makes you comment. It is better that we think you clowns are fools, than you write any more and remove all doubt!
@MrMickroach so just a rant about 'socialists' instead of addressing my point. Speaks volumes but I'm not surprised. Thatcherite's don't like to talk about how the Argentinians were allowed to walk in to a virtually defenceless Falklands.
@psy7ch The virtually defenceless Falklands was actually a product of the disgusting labour government of the 70s. And you sau "just a rant about socialists"...I would say that is pot calling kettle, considering all you "people" do is snipe at the one true leader Great Britain had in the 20th century. You are driven purely by childish spite. And like the goon obugger, tell us, what are your credentials for commenting.
@MrMickroach Rewriting history now. The Thatcher defence review announced the removal of HMS Endurance the only defensive naval ship in the area. The 1981 UK Citizenship Act also withdrew full British citizenship to the islanders. Thatcher didn't give a monkeys about the islanders until it was politically expedient to do so. They eventually were given full British citizenship AFTER the war with the hastily prepared British Nationality (Falkland Islands) Act 1983. Bit late if you ask me.
@psy7ch HMS Endurance was a research ship with no offensive capability at all, And Isee you still studiously avoid the question of your military credential to comment! Fact is, you and your "Billy Bragg mates" would attack English muffins if you were told they were an idea of Mrs thatchers. You puerile and risible ranting shows only pathetic hate!
@MrMickroach Still no answer as to why the islands were left virtually defenceless by the 'Thatcher' government. Considering the Argentinian junta pledged in 1981 to take the islands before the 150th year of occupation in 1983 and they has also got a pledge of neutrality in the event of an invasion from Uruguay in early 82 do you not think it was sheer folly to leave the islands defended by a handful of marines? Or is it to be another you are not a member of the military nonsense so shut up.
@psy7ch Indeed, you are a rather sad and pathetic armchair strategist, a PC warrior who wants to blame only Mrs Thatcher, because of a "billiy bragg" style hate rant! So you have no military credential, and that is just as I suspected. More craven fools who think they are are experts..And it matters not how it happened, what does matter is that action was swift, relentess and bold. People like you show only your contempt for our military, through your own shame for not having served
@MrMickroach I note amongst the series of name calling and insults you slip in 'it matters not how it happened' astonishing. Contrary to what you rant I do not hate the military. If Thatcher had paid a bit more attention to actually defending the islands when they were under threat instead of sending the wrong signals many more military personal wouldn't have needlessly been killed for Thatcher to bask in her personal glory. I'm surprised defence of the islands was such a low priority for you.
@psy7ch The run down of protection for the Falklands was as a result of the odious and dire labour government. Obviously you cannot remember just how bad it was in 1976 till 1979...and as always "your sort" seek to blame the Baroness for everything. I am still waiting for you to give you military credential, or better, what have you done for your country. As for defence matters, it is quite obvious you are out of your depth and have only your own shame to live with!
@MrMickroach The invasion happened on Thatchers' watch. The Argentinians were making plans invade. Thatcher reduced the defences to 33 Marines and allowed an easy invasion. That is negligence. I can understand why you are constantly playing the man instead the ball. I will stick to debating the facts. You can carry on with the insults. A sure sign you are struggling.
@psy7ch No struggle from me at all, in fact it is enjoyable to read how craven people like you like to comment on things that you dont understand. Your only motive is your hate of all things baroness Thatcher..the fact that you and you billy bragg mates are whining shows that no one really cares what you think. Fact is, we went and took it back, destroyed an evil dictatorship and many brave men were killed or maimed and you believe you have the moral high ground...you dont of course!
@MrMickroach "craven people like you" "only motive is your hate" "you and you billy bragg mates" "whining shows" I think you have illustrated my point perfectly. Too busy dishing out repetitive, irrelevant and moronic insults to reflect on the fact if Thatcher had done her job in the first place and provided the islands with a proper defence the 'many brave men were killed or maimed' would not have been put through their tragic and preventable ordeal.
@psy7ch He's a pretty feeble Troll, he's all over the internet always posting the same poorly disguised mixture of fantasy (his military service) and abuse. He seems to have a fetish for the armed forces (which he wouldn't last five minutes in BTW) and is prone to irrational racist outbursts about the Irish, Americans and foreigners in general. The amount of time he spends on here, he isn't working & I doubt he ever has. Just a sad, frustrated, lonely, misfit losing his grip on reality.
@obugger So tell us all, how do you know what the Armed Forces are like...Have you served?? I already know your answer old son! It would seem that you, like your hero Billy Bragg, support the IRA and terrorism as well! So come on, tell us all when did you serve and in what arm/regiment? Now you and yoyur mate are reduced to the petty spite of a teenage boy, it would at least give you some gravitas to admit when and how long you served for.
@MrMickroach What the hell have the IRA and terrorism got to do with the Falkland? This is what I mean about your racism - you conflate "Irish" with "terrorist" - if you had ever been to Ireland or knew any Irish people, you'd know that most of them are opposed to the IRA.
@obugger Anothet tactic used by the craven, you are now obfuscating and trying to cover your shame..There is no racism invloved in telling IRA supporters what they are. and yes old son, I know full well that a lot of Irish people are opposed to terrorism, your pomposity is risible. But those irish who support, are quite aggressive supporters, as is your mate billy bragg!
@MrMickroach - What "shame"? You conflate Irish with IRA, assuming all Irish people are terrorists is racist. You also attack Americans and the Scots, are they terrorists too?
@obugger Your shame of never having done anything apart from for yourself! That truly must be shame indeed. And no old chap, obviously if you are managing to follow my comments, you will seee that they are directed only at those who support IRA terror, including those disloyal scots and irish americans! Seems that since I attacked you and your silly friends for attacking Mrs Thatcher, I have unleashed your impotent fury in that you are exposed for what you are!
@MrMickroach What evidence do you have that Billy Bragg supports the IRA? He joined the British Army in 1982, rather an odd thing for an IRA supporter to do. You've dodged the question about your alleged military career again, so you can't even sustain the lie at the lowest level, because of course it's just fantasy. You really ought to see a psychiatrist about your fantasy world, it's not healthy and you should get it fixed.
@obugger Bragg was a typical coward, he wasnt good enough and was discharged from the Army for his total lack of ability. As for my militarty career, I have no need to prove to a craven and pompous fool of the lower social class what I have done, best you oresent your credential and tell us when you served. Your tactic of attack and divert is a very old one but we have all seen what a spineless fool you are!

@MrMickroach - What a strange existential attitude you have that one cannot have an opinion without personal experience. I presume you think Thatcher's views on the Falklands are irrelevant because she never served. Logically you must not hold an opinion on anything you haven't experienced, historical events before you were born for example. Mad as a box of frogs. You keep bleating about your military service but never fill in any details - strange that.
@obugger Baroness Thatcher served our country, did you? It is the last enclave of the small mind to start calling people mad but what is so wonderful is that you and your mate here started that malarky when I showed that you havent any exeprience apart from google to back up your argument! It must really grate on you pair of spineless oafs to be shown for what you are! So, tell us old chap, did you ever swear an oath of allegiance. and put on a uniform and stand in harms way?

Did the Belgrano represent a danger to British ships? Yes
Did Mrs T take decisive action to protect the British navy? Yes
Who would the BBC and Mrs Gould have blamed if Mrs Thatcher had allowed the Belgrano to sail away, only to return later and kill British servicemen. Hmmm .... I wonder .....
I think your argument was too simple, I didn't agree with what you said, but I would've died to make sure you had the chance to say it. Rest in peace Diana Gould.

She sent a message.

lol politicians can't win.
TheARMAProductions 2 weeks ago 5
As the liberal in this vid demonstrates....they are not interested in the reality of a given situation. They will argue over technicalities for the sake of criticizing and getting on their high morale horse. The Belgrano was technically just out of the exlusion zone that should never of been declared to begin with (that was a mistake by the government) but it did pose a threat to the task force. I'm pretty sure the Argie fleet wasn't coming to say hello to the Royal Navy lol.
TheARMAProductions 2 weeks ago
@TheARMAProductions He never said that he didn't exactly hold a grudge. This is what he said: “The sinking of the cruiser was an act of war. It was not a crime. It was a licit most unfortunate and lamentable action. Crime is war. We were in the front and we suffered the consequences”, Captain Bonzo was quoted at the time. He also described the 323 Argentine sailors that went down with the old Second World War II cruiser as “heroes”.

I'm making an educated guess that what Hitler left was more devastating, as it has effected people around the world
thisistheending 3 weeks ago
@thisistheending T******r inflicted the kind of damage on the UK that Hitler could only have dreamed about. She destroyed our industry, she broke the spirit of the British people and turned us against each other, she divided and devastated communities, left our towns to go to ruin and urban decay, she opressed and eroded our human rights, and not least of all, her political policies left more British people homeless than Hitler's bombing did.
charliepeebles 3 weeks ago
@charliepeebles What so you were around in the 30's and 40's to know this? You were around during the blitz and england bombings? Hitler and his army killed millions of people, Thatcher did indeed leave British people homeless, but at least they were still living. If these are facts (which I doubt they are, it all seems like subjective opinion to me) then show me your resources and I will read and educate myself, otherwise I'm staying with my educated guess that Hitler was worse than Thatcher!
thisistheending 3 weeks ago
@thisistheending My parents were around in the 40's. The pit village where I grew up was close to the Tyne shipyards so it got hit by a lot of stray bombs. In 1982 T*****r closed our pit instantly creating 80% unemployment in the village. Scores of families were left homeless, the local shops all went out of business and burglary became commonplace. Times were very hard there for years and the older generation kept telling me "things are worse round here now than they were during the blitz".

RobertM408 3 weeks ago
The actual truth is that I believe many RN Captains and Admirals would have considered nuclear weapons were justified in the situation that Woodward faced-particulary from the submarines. The entire Royal Navy crucial for holding the Greenland-Iceland- UK gap was in real danger of being lost.At that time I know all USN War College analysis suggested the only outcome could be the destruction of the RN fleet. That is what I also judged in April 1982.
RobertM408 3 weeks ago
The Naval situation that the RN task force faced at this moment was too dangerous to respect the niceties of international law. Where the exclusion zone was and the direction of the heavily exocet armed Argentina armed surface task force and associated carrier was irrelevant. Woodward was facing a multiplicity of threats -Exocets on ships, bombers and shore sites, 150 A-4, Mirage and Kifr and most dangerous of all he was being tracked by a 209 sub. Hitting with torpedoes was minimum response.

KraftyKris1 4 weeks ago
@KraftyKris1 What a moron. Argentina invaded OUR territory; they instigated the war. The ship was NOT sailing away as you and this Diana Gould cretin suppose; it was preparing to attack our ships. Don't take my word for it though, the Captain of the Belgrano has already confirmed this as has other members of the Argentine military directly involved in the conflict. But I suppose you know better than the people who participated?
fozziebear2009 3 weeks ago 9
@fozziebear2009 Our territory? How do you think we got it in the first place? By invading it, and now you think they are wrong for trying to take it back? Please explain why you think we have the right to this territory which is thousands of miles away from our country. And the ship was sailing away, the coordinates of the ship clearly show they were sailing away & our government saw this as threatening. Have you even looked at the military coordinates?
KraftyKris1 2 weeks ago
@KraftyKris1 When we first arrived there was no one there; so we didn't invade it. Take it back? Argentina didn't even exist as a country at the time of our first landing on the island and many years after either. Proximity to the U.K. is one of the most utterly rediculous arguements of all; France is about 21 miles from the Britain so does that mean we are French territory? The ship was sailing away? It was just maneuvering into an attack formation with an Argentine aircraft carrier. Cont...
fozziebear2009 2 weeks ago
@fozziebear2009 What difference does the co-ordinates make? The British government had weeks before told the Argentines that we were prepared to attack anything that was seen as a threat to our troops even outside of the exclusion zone. The captain of the ship has already confirmed what I said and has said MORE THAN ONCE that the sinking was not a war crime but a lamentably ligitimate target. But again, people like you know more about it than the people who were there and the captain of the ship

fozziebear2009 2 weeks ago
@fozziebear2009 Actually the French found the Falklands before the British and Indians may have been there before the French but my point was that the British Empire expanded by taking over hundreds of territories and killing thousands of people and I disagree with the conquering mentality. What are doing fighting on the other side of the planet? The coordinates make a big difference, are you suggesting we can destroy anything we view as a "threat" wherever it is?
KraftyKris1 2 weeks ago
@KraftyKris1 so go and cry to the argentine government , they have a nice history of closet facism, us supported dictatorships,t how the fuck do you think the spanish arrived in south america? colonizing every country except brazil? do you think they just walked up to the natives and said hello can we stay a while? you seem thick as shit to be honest.
mojopin70 1 week ago

Pentdad 1 month ago
Doesn't matter that it was outside the exclusion zone. The Belgrano captain and the Argentine govt in 94 have admitted it was a legitimate strike. The momentary bearing doesn't mean anything as it can change quickly. Can you imagine if countries agreed not to attack units that were facing away? That would be ridiculous! Maggie protected our boys, shame the socialist freaks can't bring themselves to admit that. History has shown Maggie to be correct. God bless Maggie Thatcher.

The question is why she was allowed to preside over harms way military after she was shown to be a murder.
bweber2k 1 month ago
Thatcher is just about able to regurgitate populistic slogans: 'a danger to our troops', 'protect the lives of our boys'.
It's beyond pathetic, especially when considering such phrases aren't even hers, they're learned by heart before media-appearances, taken over from the PR-teams.
suddenlyitsobvious 1 month ago
Of course, the problem is most people have overriding investments in denying reality, they can't handle facing what suckers they are taken for, & ARE. They need to pay their bills working for the economy, need to BELIEVE their kids are receiving a great education, that the medical system helps them stay healthy & that politicians are there for their benefit, turning the world into a beautiful bright place...
How deluded can people get?
She's just a dissociated narcissistic media-creature.
suddenlyitsobvious 1 month ago

This is the official position of the Argentine Navy, Thatcher had the right under International law to sink the ship.
cbsman95 1 month ago 20
@cbsman95 "Right does not mean justification", and Thatcher did not, at the time, have the knowledge that you have now. The moral issue still stands.

Argentina were the invaders here, not us.
whitbyjet65 1 month ago
The socialists on this video abusing Mrs Thatcher for defending our troops, defending our ships, and engaging in a war which was brought TO US, are utter scum.
If it was down to socialist scum, the falklands would be in the hands of the argies right now, and this country sold down the river to Europe along with the pound.
Kozzy06 1 month ago
@Kozzy06 It was Thatcher that made the spending cuts that left the islands virtually defenceless despite noises coming from Argentina that they were planning to take them. One would almost think she engineered it. It certainly gave her failing an unpopular government the popularity boost she needed and allowed her defence minister to fall on her sword for leaving the door open. Its amazing what a bit of jingoistic flag waving can do as far as pull the wool over the eyes.
psy7ch 1 month ago
@psy7ch Another socialist clown who is not qualified, it is amazing how the sheer spite in yoyur hate for Mrs Thatcher makes you comment. It is better that we think you clowns are fools, than you write any more and remove all doubt!
MrMickroach 1 month ago
@MrMickroach so just a rant about 'socialists' instead of addressing my point. Speaks volumes but I'm not surprised. Thatcherite's don't like to talk about how the Argentinians were allowed to walk in to a virtually defenceless Falklands.
psy7ch 1 month ago
@psy7ch The virtually defenceless Falklands was actually a product of the disgusting labour government of the 70s. And you sau "just a rant about socialists"...I would say that is pot calling kettle, considering all you "people" do is snipe at the one true leader Great Britain had in the 20th century. You are driven purely by childish spite. And like the goon obugger, tell us, what are your credentials for commenting.
MrMickroach 1 month ago
@MrMickroach Rewriting history now. The Thatcher defence review announced the removal of HMS Endurance the only defensive naval ship in the area. The 1981 UK Citizenship Act also withdrew full British citizenship to the islanders. Thatcher didn't give a monkeys about the islanders until it was politically expedient to do so. They eventually were given full British citizenship AFTER the war with the hastily prepared British Nationality (Falkland Islands) Act 1983. Bit late if you ask me.
psy7ch 1 month ago
@psy7ch HMS Endurance was a research ship with no offensive capability at all, And Isee you still studiously avoid the question of your military credential to comment! Fact is, you and your "Billy Bragg mates" would attack English muffins if you were told they were an idea of Mrs thatchers. You puerile and risible ranting shows only pathetic hate!
MrMickroach 1 month ago
@MrMickroach Still no answer as to why the islands were left virtually defenceless by the 'Thatcher' government. Considering the Argentinian junta pledged in 1981 to take the islands before the 150th year of occupation in 1983 and they has also got a pledge of neutrality in the event of an invasion from Uruguay in early 82 do you not think it was sheer folly to leave the islands defended by a handful of marines? Or is it to be another you are not a member of the military nonsense so shut up.
psy7ch 1 month ago
@psy7ch Indeed, you are a rather sad and pathetic armchair strategist, a PC warrior who wants to blame only Mrs Thatcher, because of a "billiy bragg" style hate rant! So you have no military credential, and that is just as I suspected. More craven fools who think they are are experts..And it matters not how it happened, what does matter is that action was swift, relentess and bold. People like you show only your contempt for our military, through your own shame for not having served
MrMickroach 1 month ago
@MrMickroach I note amongst the series of name calling and insults you slip in 'it matters not how it happened' astonishing. Contrary to what you rant I do not hate the military. If Thatcher had paid a bit more attention to actually defending the islands when they were under threat instead of sending the wrong signals many more military personal wouldn't have needlessly been killed for Thatcher to bask in her personal glory. I'm surprised defence of the islands was such a low priority for you.
psy7ch 1 month ago
@psy7ch The run down of protection for the Falklands was as a result of the odious and dire labour government. Obviously you cannot remember just how bad it was in 1976 till 1979...and as always "your sort" seek to blame the Baroness for everything. I am still waiting for you to give you military credential, or better, what have you done for your country. As for defence matters, it is quite obvious you are out of your depth and have only your own shame to live with!
MrMickroach 1 month ago
@MrMickroach The invasion happened on Thatchers' watch. The Argentinians were making plans invade. Thatcher reduced the defences to 33 Marines and allowed an easy invasion. That is negligence. I can understand why you are constantly playing the man instead the ball. I will stick to debating the facts. You can carry on with the insults. A sure sign you are struggling.
psy7ch 1 month ago
@psy7ch No struggle from me at all, in fact it is enjoyable to read how craven people like you like to comment on things that you dont understand. Your only motive is your hate of all things baroness Thatcher..the fact that you and you billy bragg mates are whining shows that no one really cares what you think. Fact is, we went and took it back, destroyed an evil dictatorship and many brave men were killed or maimed and you believe you have the moral high ground...you dont of course!
MrMickroach 1 month ago
@MrMickroach "craven people like you" "only motive is your hate" "you and you billy bragg mates" "whining shows" I think you have illustrated my point perfectly. Too busy dishing out repetitive, irrelevant and moronic insults to reflect on the fact if Thatcher had done her job in the first place and provided the islands with a proper defence the 'many brave men were killed or maimed' would not have been put through their tragic and preventable ordeal.

MrMickroach 1 month ago
@MrMickroach What the hell have the IRA and terrorism got to do with the Falkland? This is what I mean about your racism - you conflate "Irish" with "terrorist" - if you had ever been to Ireland or knew any Irish people, you'd know that most of them are opposed to the IRA.
obugger 1 month ago
@obugger Anothet tactic used by the craven, you are now obfuscating and trying to cover your shame..There is no racism invloved in telling IRA supporters what they are. and yes old son, I know full well that a lot of Irish people are opposed to terrorism, your pomposity is risible. But those irish who support, are quite aggressive supporters, as is your mate billy bragg!
