Its probably because his respect for both of them. He knew she wanted Griffith at first, then when Guts came along and stole her heart with his rugged manliness.
I always wondered why Judeau did not tell Caska how much he really cared for he I guess the fear of rejection because she was so fasinated by Griffith and Gutts
Judeau was probably one of my favorite characters of the whole series and the manga. His death scene is very emotional and they executed it very well.
my fav char, still hope he'll be ressurrected in the manga somehow :P
