They are all products of their academy. Chelsea have started to promote their youth again. From their academy they have Terry then they are now starting to give McEachron, Bertrand, Van Aanholt a chance. City have Richards, that's all.

The only decent Chelsea academy graduates in recent years other than Terry are Carlton Cole and Robert Huth.

Man City has a good academy. Shaun Wright Phillips, Joey Barton, Stephen Ireland, Daniel Sturridge have came from there.

Real Madrid are spanish and spanish teams focus more on youth than english

Terry is the only player. McEachran is going out on loan, how can you say he's breaking through?? Even if I agreed with you, how is McEachran possibly having a future at Chelsea much better than Man City's situation? If he manages to break through and be a star at Chelsea it will be the first academy graduate to do so since Terry 10 years ago.... (No players since Roman took over)

Allowing young players to play around bought talent will only help them, they can learn and compete for places. If they can't break into the first team because of good players then they will leave having become better players for the competition. Even if they don't get into the first team (Richards did) then they'll go improve another team.

I don't want to talk ill of youth, maybe he has a bright future but isn't the finished article right now. Maybe he is a centre back and doesn't have much skill (though why would they pick a CB for a skills contest?....), whatever the reason, he isn't that skillful whatsoever. Even on the simple keepy ups he is almost losing control of the ball and is constantly on the verge of losing his balance, Falcao destroyed him with ease. Again though, probably very young.

Maybe 1 out of every 30 but that is football at the top level, you don't weaken your team for sentimental reasons, and the important thing is City train them well for a good career. City have ex-academy making thousands of pounds a week all over the place because they were well trained... look at Joey Barton and Adam Clayton for example. Several of our current kids will break through anyway, someone like Denis Suarez is too good not to.
