So i have seen a couple of your videos, and i have no idea how i got on here, can someone please tell me what the point of this is, all i can see is that your making electomagnets?!?!?!?
The bifilar pancake coil is designed to be used for either really high voltage (single wire transmission) or with a current of high frequency. This coil is not to be driven as an electromagnet its intention is to be placed BEFORE an electromagnet... because with high voltages or high frequencies the induced voltage creates a high capacitance which cancels the induction..... NO BACK EMF....its all in the patent... yet nobody cares to actually read it....
@gilligan80 Thanks for bringing up these points. In the time since I made this simple comparison, I have read a couple of the transmission patents (for running motors and such). My CD coils are really small compared to what Tesla was describing, so I would need to get a better signal generator get into the higher frequencies needed for these small coils and learn how to safely generate and measure higher voltages for some of the larger coils I have made. Thanks for the comment.
@hydro4f3a yeah, i was just going back to read it again and he was describing a coil of a 1000 turns.... the biggest ive ever gotten to was about 50 turns... theres no noticeable effects at 50 turns....im using thicker gauge wire also.... and a piss poor method of winding them....
@gilligan80 : I have some other videos using coils with finer wire and these are about 400 turns. I also did a few "stacked coil" experiments using CD substrates to increase the number of turns, but I think the larger single plane coil would be good to replicate next.
