  • im a freshmen in high school and im better than this

  • I'm a sophomore in highschool and u stutter step when u hurdle u have to stride and get low which will improve your trail leg I go to manchester two highschool no hold state record for shuttle hurdles

  • GET OUT OF THE WAY FAGGOT!

  • Just keep practicing. I am a sophomore and run a 15.4 but I started out running a 19 flat so just keep working on it. You will get if. Big thing is 3 step and attack the hurdle

  • These kids r bad! I'm in 7th grade and run better than these cats

  • I three step im 15 i ran a 16.1 im a fresman i could be runing 14's i just need to practice stop studder steping look up some drills on here they will help big time

  • u need to bend as far as u can when u jump it improves ur time a lot

  • Forms not bad, i three step hurdles and have been for 3 year im a freshman in highschool and i currently run a 14.93

  • you need to work on your speed in between hurdles. (i'm old now 54) but back in the 70's in high school i rane the 120yd(back then yds)hurdles in a best of 14.8 not bad for 37 trs ago. you have to maintain your speed or you start losing momentum for the 6th-7th hurdle etc. also noticed some of the guys are "jumping" rather than running over the hurdle, you want to spend the LEAST amount of time in the air, anyway i like checking out you youngsters of today, good luck and keep it going !!!

  • ahahah i was searching you tube because i wanted to see some funny hurdling videos and i came across this one. it struck me odd. and then i realized that i was in it, im 3rd one in from the center ahah that was awesome

  • you're stuttering before the hurdles, you shouldnt switch legs in the short distance hurdles as it will cost you too much time. you should be getting to the first hurdle in anything from 7 to 9 stridesbut inbetween the hurdles from thereafter it shouldbe three strides so really think about making your strides huge even though it will feel slower. if you are fast and can use both legs, you should try 400m hurdles because your technique doesnt have to be great, you just needa be quick!

  • Im in 7th grade (12 years old...Im 6 ft..ya im abnormal :-/) and I just started 3 stepping this year..and ill tell you..I fell about 1 thousand times! It took a lot of practice but I think you have to potential to 3 step, but it is going to take a lot of hard work and dedication which I can tell you have, if I cand do it you can too! Good Job and keep hurdling! :-D

  • @penguin2cute101 but in 7th grade you run 55m and the hurdles are 6 inches lower so its quite a bit easier to 3 step in 7th grade than in highschool

  • @SuperBakedjake Im in 8th grade now. and I had my sports awards for high school. I ran varsity as an 8th grader. and I can tell you that I ran 110m in 7th grade. I 3 step hurdles for Varsity now. so Hun, reconsider that comment. Varsity for High School and a V letter lined up for next year already, I think I have some talent.

  • @penguin2cute101 Im not trying to be mean... i was just saying that the middle school hurdles are lower and again im not trying to be mean but your also a girl so they're even lower, im a freshman and varsity hurdler as well

  • @SuperBakedjake umm im a guy? Im using my cousins shared account. SO actually, I have the same hurdle height as you :)

  • @SuperBakedjake so I run exactly the same as you.

  • @penguin2cute101 actually if your in 8th grade then its not the exact same as me cause middle school is still lower than high school =)

  • @SuperBakedjake what dont you get about I run varsity for HIGH SCHOOL?

  • @penguin2cute101 so your in 8th grade running for high school, that makes sense...oh wait no it dosent...

  • @SuperBakedjake its called being good...youd know that..oh wait, you dont.

  • @penguin2cute101 lmao do you know how to read? i ran varsity also so yea i do know what being good is smartass ;D

  • @SuperBakedjake cooollllllllllll

  • im in 8th too got 15.4

  • Learn to 3 step its way better than studdering just reach your trail leg out and bend at the waste and sprint in between. It helps me, i PR with 16.10 var, high's

  • im in 7th grade and my fastest time is 17.69.

  • im a freshman in high school and i just started hurdling this year and so fat my best time is a low 19... can anyone help me out with improving my time? i four step and wear sprinting spikes. help please.

  • if your in the 8th grade jv doesnt that mean the hurdle is a heck of a lot shorter? that makes it sooooo much easier than 39in

  • I'm in 8th grade and got a 17.26

  • Haha Martinboy I haven't hurdled in 2 years ... I was forced to choose between baseball and track...too bad track isn't in the fall..

  • yer gunna wanna 3 step that and pull yo trail leg through to get it xD

  • Dont Studder Step,3 step it

  • u are not 3 stepping and ur swinging ur legs up when ur suppose to lift ur knees and slightly straighting it

  • well i am from Piner high and i think tht it was okay but like the others say you need to get tht 3 step beat down

  • Horrible form -_-*

  • try 4 stepping you are taking baby steps between every hurdle i'm serious i used to do that and my pr was 18.1 at the best then i taught myself how to 4 step and now i run a 16.5 which is average

  • @SteelersSuck305 i run a 16.5 also im in 8th

  • check out my vid...and leave a comment..

  • I'm 14 and I run a 15.8 FAT, you just gotta get that 3 step down, and in between hurdles pump your arms as fast as you can to get to that next hurdle, and try to hit your head on your knee

  • You need to bend and lean into it. Try and keep your arms in control. Your left arm has to be close to your body and then your right arm pinned right against your back. Practice full speed through at least 3 hurdels a day, to get that 3 step down, and this will help out alot. Stretch also before you hurdle, hurdle stretch will help you keep low to the hurdles, and practice the arm motions while in your stretch, to get a feel and trasition to keep your arms in place and in control.. Good luck!!

  • All you need to do is stride out, dawg. And work on your trail leg, but other than that your doing alright for your first year. Try to get that 7 step down to a three.

  • haha 5 step???

  • Imagine you are going through a small door, the bottom being the hurdle. Use your lead to attack the space just above the hurdle, while reaching for an imaginary door knob. keep your body compact as you go over the hurdle, don't flail your arms. a good drill for three stepping is just run(not sprint) at the hurdles and in between each take 3 giant strides. after a few times, sprint it, and you should get close to 3 stepping.

  • K I noticed that u dont stride inbetween u need to attempt to at least get 4 steps inbetween the hurdles the best is 3 steps. Right now based on this vid ur doing about 7 and 6 steps in between. Other than that ur looking okay but u have the freshman disease of crazy arms dude try to contain them.

  • well I'm 14 and get 16.7. and I 4-step the whole flight. and all i can see wrong with yours is that you need to pull your trail leg over, instead of legging it kind of drag. and focus on 4 stepping, and instead of having both arms practically straight out. your left hand should reach to your right lead leg, and other arm tucked like your gonna punch someone. and vice-versa depending on your lead leg=)

  • sorry if your 14 running 110m hurdles at 39 inches and 4 stepping.. you cant run 16.7

  • well, idk if your trying to say that because it seems too good. but its true. and actually in my second to last meet i got 16.5, and my last meet, i tried 3 stepping, and it messed me up and i ran 16.9.

  • you should still learn how to 3 step rather than 4 because it will dramatically decrease your time. when i learned to 3 step i dropped 2 seconds off my time and now run a 15.5

  • damnn my first year in hurdles. lol kinda scared

  • omg dude , im in the hurdles team at my highschool .. its my first year there, i cant wait to race

  • may i bring your attention to the guy in lane 1.

can someone give me an average for how many 2-inch steps he takes between hurdles?

  • lol this is jv

  • 13.99? Did you go to nationals? Im number 1 in the state of VA with 14.5

And i am fast, i place in the 1-200's as well, i cant imagine shaving half a second off of that.

  • the number 1 hurdler in the world for i think its the second highest hight of hurdles hes from victoria australia 13.30!!! sick ay

  • Yeah 14.5 was my first year hurdling. Im now down to 14.2. And im just starting my senior year. wish i would have started as a freshman =(

  • I'm 14, and I run a 16.7 4 stepping the whole flight. This is my second year, Last year I got 18.9 so I improved a lot.

  • Thats impressive, keep up the work, i wish i would have started that early.

  • I'm 16 and I do Hurdles in high school. my best time is 14.3 and the biggest thing you have to do is, as FManStory said, learn to 3 step. also, do not jump over the hurdle. you have to stride over it. Do not be afraid, you look timid and scared. attack the hurdle wit hall you can and ge through them. also, be aggressive off the start. it helps a lot. i used to run about a 17 which is pretty bad but since i learned all these things, i cut time off. remember: practice and learn to not be afraid!!!

  • i broke my record and ran a 13.99:)

  • good job. i was a freshman 2007-2008 and i just started hurdles last spring and i didnt do so well. ive been practicing over the summer and im getting a lot better. my time was like.. 19 because i studdered stepped, jumped over the hurdle, and 5 stepped. I've been practicing a lot and im not studdering anymore and i am striding, i just need to learn how to 3 step.

  • i'm 16 and my best time for 110 meter hurdles is 14,86.

you have to try to do only 3 steps.

you should not jump over the hurdle, because then you lost speed and you can't keep 3 steps technique.

  • attack the hurdle, drive your lead knee up and kick straight out, go over as low as possible with your trail leg out to the side and your toes up, bring your trail leg around as far as you can to get the 3 step

  • well for your first time, that's really good form! three stepping is huge, just don't do it like you're triple jumping.

  • im in 7th, my best is 20.1 but that trail leg is where you can really cut your time down, my main problem is not bringing my train leg through

  • my main advice is to sprint, run it like you would the 100 meters. sprint to the first one, then sprint between each hurdle. you want to take 8 steps to the first hurdle, then 3 steps between every other hurdle. the key with three stepping is your mind, you think you have to take an extra step to clear it, but you really dont need too. your lead leg needs to clear the middle of the hurdle, then your trail leg will come over and you want to snap it down as fast as possible. just stay relaxed

  • when your about to hurdle.. lean forward and life you leading leg.. then when your leg is over in... quickly snap it down...

  • whao this was hella cool i started watching this video cause i have a track meet tomorrow. and im in this video. im the 3rd one from the right. that was such a trip lol

  • Yea, 3-stepping is crucial. You get that down you can't even help but run in the 15-16 second range. From there, it's key to keep momentum going, it's what i need help on too. so always lean and pump yourself forward. staying low over the hurdle is a must too.

  • the only thing i can think of is try to control your arms more, get a bit lower, and 3 step it.

3 stepping isnt hard, but 3 stepping with good form is. i have a track meet tommorow and i can only 3 step every other hurdle.

  • yea dude your studderin at every hurdle.. you look all the other kids on my team they all studder and 5 step.. I am the only kid on my team that 3 steps and im the 3rd shortest out of 10 kids.... But yea try three stepping it will cut your time by atleast 3 seconds

  • alright thanks

do you know whattime you got on the 110m hurdles as a freshman

so i can compare with mine

  • haha im actually only in eigth grade but my best time for 110 meter hurdles so far is 17.46... but we have only had 1 meet so far so it will probably improve.... Yea my team blows the next best kid gets liek 20 mabye a 19.9 19.8 but thats it... but im actually really bad compared to this kid who showed me how to do it last year he used to get like 16's when id get like mid to high 18's

what times do you get as a freshman.. i have practiced on High school hurdles and its a huge difference..

  • last year i got 18.3

I am still learning to 3 step!

  • yea 18.25 was my best time in 7th grade... the whole year i was 5 stepping till i learned four step by the last two meets... My times went from low 19's and high 18 to a 18.33 and a 18.25 on my last race... So yea once you 3 step your times go way down its real big

  • @geonyoung i can 3 step...and im in 8th grade...

  • @beastmodez im in 8th two ur times pretty good yester day i got 16.5 i broke our record

  • @beastmodez sounds like my team, in gettysburg. i ran a 16.8 as my best time (beat the middle school record) and our second best hurdler was a 19.2 ill post a video soon, but the quality is pretty bad. just add my account and youll see it

  • i five step between hurdles

    im trying to four step

    but doesn't that mean alternating

  • yes. and you need to learn to be versatile.

4 steping takes more time to learn

  • Trust me I'm no expert at hurdles. I'm a freshman and it's my first year doing them. But I lead my team of all underclassmen (3 Fresh and 1 soph) to a 3rd place finish in Varsity Shuttle Hurdle. In no particular order the most important things you need to remember are: 3 Stepping is always faster, Your arms move your legs and strong uppercut will pull your trail leg over faster, and keep your balance all the way through.

  • ur studdering thats why u lost ur lead. try 3 stepping ik its very hard. i know tht bcz i cant get it down. but keep trying harder!

  • what's your time in 100 metres?

  • stay on your toes throughout the race

    keep your knees up

extend your trail leg over the hurdle and snap it down when you clear it

and yes the biggest improvement will be 3 stepping every hurdle. it takes a lot of time and practice, but it will shave at least 3 seconds off your time

  • i also started running hurdles from scratch(unprepared). i wasnt very good at all. and after 1 year(1 track season) training and form work i made it to state . all i worked on was 3 steping. after that my time went from a 18.0-19.0 to a 16.0-15.0, once i 3-steped every hurdle. and, when i was at state, i was the only one not using blocks, and, contridictory, i was the 1st one to the 1st hurdle, so sometimes you have to reconsider starting blocks.

  • haha, thanks a lot man.

but my legs are a little short you know. :/

  • dont worry im 5'4'' and have short legs but i run 110HH in 15.65 what was ur time??

  • @geonyoung You probably still can learn to 3 step. you really need to learn 3 step if you want to put down a good time. Like Isufan said you can cut off like 3 seconds.

  • try taking 8 steps to the first hurdle and when u get over the hurdle with ur lead leg try to strectch out ur trail leg forward so a three step will be easier and dont studder between hurdles make it a sprint

  • 1st u have 2 be a developed sprinter... 2nd u have 2 be flexible... and lean ur way into the hurdles more and u have 2 have a foward lean in bettween hurdles and work on ur lead leg anb and that good pull ur trail leg through faster

  • ughh lol

dont listen to the bottom guy because it doesnt matter how tall you are to 3 step

just hurdle as much as possible to get your technique down then work your way up to a 3 step

start by 4 stepping then when you make that a sprint in between the hurdles start 3 stepping

it will be kind of slow at first

but just keep workin at it

  • try taking 4 steps and alternate the lead leg over the hurdle. the 3 step is REALLY hard to do unless you're fast enough and your legs are long enough. also work on pacing so you dont have to stutter between the hurdles.

  • haha well first of all u should attempt to get the 3 step. once u got that, everythings good
