  • Secretariat- "Come on! Lets run again!"

  • @HermaferditicDude Haha I don't think they used steriods. I know he was on other drugs though. ALL racehorses are on drugs! =)

  • Someone likes to brag.

  • @mritaliano lol who's arrogant? Hmmm not Americans, not Italians......Just YOU! :) cheers!!!!

  • Oh yea what the guy says in video is so TRUE! 1s time i got a good look at him was before the Derby on TV (he was getting a bath) and the camera got him at a good angle that showed him off well and I stood up pointed at the TV with my eyes poppin and said (practically shouted) THAT is the next triple crown winner! I was in high school at the time! There was just something about that horse!

  • that jockey needs to learn how to sit a buck.. sheesh noob mistake

  • @englishjumper123 Uhhhh Secretariat never bucked..sheesh learn about race horses!

  • @Militarylove2012 Me? Learn about race horses? I am only 14 years old and work with training Rolex and Pre-Olympic eventers. I pay all of my expenses with 5 jobs I've landed myself and I run a thereupetic and pony party business? Me learn about the equestrian world? Think again.

  • @englishjumper123 Learn how to read...I said RACEHORSES.

  • @englishjumper123 HAHAHAHAHA. Yeah right!

  • @englishjumper123 You can't have a job at 14 you don't get your NIN until 6weeks before you turn 16. The most you can get before then is a paper round.

  • @DeathKitty123456 No, you actually can. Not a certified job under law, but an equivelant not under law. I have had many offers from pro barns and I do them all my self with my own communications. u jelly?

  • @englishjumper123 no i am not jealous i am happy studying at college with hope to work in conservation one day and i doubt you are telling the truth but hey what do i know, all i am saying is if i was a pro rider or owned a pro barn i would not employ a 14 year old child to train my horse, muck out some stables maybe but certainly not train :\

  • @englishjumper123 just my opinion

  • Perfection.

  • Mrs. Tweety, said that Secretariat, did not like roses.

  • Is that Lucien Lauren in those crazy pants?

  • @Tsarevna303 I don't think so. The checkered pants belong to Eddie Sweat, the groom. At the end, the shorter man removing the blanket of roses from Secretariat's withers was Lucien Laurin, the trainer. Immediately after, Eddie is visible in the crazy pants.

  • look at penny standing there soooh appya nd so young so pretty

  • I think it was more that this horse had a personality and an identity and it tolerated humans as means to achieve what it wanted to. Ronnie has said, many times, that Big Red ran and he really didn't need to call on him to do much of anything.

Ron was just along for the ride.

  • With all his wins he must have been thinking... NOT AGAIN!

  • The announcer is correct. Secretariat's beauty, speed & perfection has never been duplicated. He truly was the "miracle horse":-) The only supernatural being ever recorded on earth. He had it ALL.

  • Awww thats the secretariat we knew and loved 

  • You can see at the 12 sec. mark a hand pulling the barrier rope (or cloth) out from under his tail and it breaks causing him to bolt to his left the first time. Then his bit ends up over the barrier as Sweat tries to control him and get him loose. As he backs up then his tail gets over the barrier again and spooks him a second time. Now look at him as he settles down, his balance, his conformation. Secretariat was a very majestic animal even under these circumstances.

  • never ever get tired of looking at that magnificent horse or hearing about him. He is a legend.

  • Truth is, a horse like Secretariat loved what he was doing..he was a natural and it was what he was born and bred to do. Sadly, though, the truth is that many many of the not-so-successful race horses are treated very badly and sold for slaughter for dog food. There is a fairly recent news story about a mare that was bought for 35.00 to be sent to slaughter...she was very near death from starvation and maltreatment. A kind soul picked her up and rehabbed. She was a descend.

    of Secretariat.

  • @jeanwye wow

  • 55 there is his oner ye shes soooo old now lol

  • Best looking horse ever? --Swaps.

  • Someone tried reaching to touch him. He knocked Eddie right into the rope, left a nice burn on his neck.

  • it was the rail guard that spooked him

    not the roses

    hes gorgeous

    RIP Super Horse

  • he looked great so shinny.Ya he was like get this lion off me. When they put the roses on him.Such a lovly horse.

  • penny you fucking whore.

what did you own, OMG, he is so magnificent.

  • This horse got to live every American male's dream. Warm place to sleep, top drawer food, and all the women horses he could chase.

  • Whoa MarianC44, don't hold back on our account. Please, tell us how you REALLY feel. Don't be afraid to express an open opinion.

  • If Horse racing is animal abuse then so are dog sleds and keeping pets. Horses love to run, they love to compete, and are very well treated. They are athletes. Very few horses are drugged, in fact it's illegal to drug your horse and if caught can suffer tremendous charges and the animal could be taken away. Ask any horse owner or jockey and if for a second they don't think their horse is sound to race they scratch!

  • @MarianC44 these people did he was a part of thier family and they are treated with repsect and they are fed nicely and put down humanely if needed

  • @horsesaremylife31899 I rememeber reading the info at the Ky Horse Park years ago on how the vets were crying when they put Big Red down due to that painful hoof disease that also killed Barbaro.

  • @MarianC44 Secretariat won most of his races on his own will. Jockey Ron Turcotte seldom ever used a whip. MarianC44, you know nothing about the industry, you speak out of your ass.

One cannot force a horse to run. It takes an exceptional horse to even qualify to run in a race. Once qualified, the horse has to demonstrate heart and the will to win, this is something that no whip or drugs can instill.

  • @MarianC44 You`re from peta aren`t you?

  • where's the rest of the show?

  • It's not the Roses people, the barrier rope got under his tail and spooked him. Look closely.

  • @flyindiamond He was freakingout a little already before the barrier, but the berrier added to it.

  • @flyindiamond Looks like he was agitated before the rope got under his tail.

  • @flyindiamond i can see it! thats what i thought before i saw ur comment

  • @flyindiamond I have to agree - It's obvious! Also, if one has seen other numerous Secretariat victories, he is rather docile.

  • @flyindiamond I seen it

  • @flyindiamond actually if u look even closer ur partially right but he was spooked before that happened cuz after he spooked then he got it cought under :)

  • @flyindiamond it looks like the rope went over the tail and i don't blame him all horses spook and thoroughbreds are exspecially frisky and strong headed but you got to love there big hearts

  • @afleetalgebra You can see at the 12 sec. mark a hand holding the barrier as it snaps coming out from under Secretariat's tail. If you type in flyindiamond on you tube you can view my tribute to Secretariat - 1973 triple crown. He was an amazing animal.

  • @flyindiamond yeh,they tickled his little rear

  • @flyindiamond Look closer and you will see him spooking into the barrier rope...becuase of the roses

  • SECRETARIAT: "Take these damned roses off my shoulders someone or I'LL take them off!!!! Then I'll take off!"

  • Too bad they lost the recipe..

  • look i was on an elvis site when i commented somehow it got on this site.not my fault.its you tubes.sorry to upset you

  • Like mshobohorse asked, why are we having a discussion about Elvis? This is a video about Secretariat, the king of horses. Not some over the hill over-rated over-weight burned out singer who was a DRUG ADDICT.

  • thanks for calling me an idiot apreciate it.I know elvis was addicted.I am not denying that. All I am saying is give the man credit like other great artist and stop tearing him down all the time .He was human like the rest of us.we all have faults.christ

  • @savammy, um why r u talking about elvis? this is a video of secretariat, not a singer.

  • @mshobohorse sorry replied to the wrong video by mistake somehow

  • @savammy Why don't you take this crap to a Elvis site where it belongs, and you can argue till the cows come home? Don't you think that would be more appropriate than here? How many ways are there to tell you, this is a video about the KING OF HORSES? Not a site about a burned-out over the hill drug addicted "singer" that's been dead for over 30 yrs.

  • It looks like he wants to "man handle" or in his case "horse handle" Eddie Sweat. It looked like it took all Eddie Sweat to control the situation. Secretariat wanted to shake him around like a rag doll.

  • its not that he didnt like them. they rested them too high on his withers

  • Thank God it was Eddie Sweat there with Secretariat!

  • Of course, his record in the Derby still stands after 36 years... 1:59 2/5.

  • That's amazing footage. Barbaro hated the roses too! He wouldn't even let them get the photo with them on. After Mine That Bird's connections put them on his statue, I found it cool of them- but funny since he would have tried to pull them off with his teeth.

  • love Eddie Sweats outfit...dynamite...nice hoss

  • First time I've seen this clip and I search for Secretariat stuff every week!

    Kudos to you!

  • Lol cute!

  • Never saw that clip before. Interesting indeed.
