I bought this camera to replace my TZ5. The TZ5 is a great camera: awesome lens, easy to use, HD video, 3in high-res screen. The problem I had with the TZ5 is that it wasn't portable enough to `carry on me'. I finally made my rounds with the FX150 and got rid of my TZ5. No regrets! The FX150 fit the bill as a 'carry on me' camera. The ...

i reccomend that you do your test in concert, to test also microphone and how the cameras handling lightshow :) im looking for camera so that i can record club events and everything is okei with tz10 until that blooming effect comes along. Other youtube videos show that sound recording with tz10 is very good. So if anyone knows what camera is the best filming in nightclubs let me know please :)
Once u r using some profesional editing software and setting the contrast/brightness/gamma etc during editing- u better off with HX5 for one reason - in all of those videos u can see taht theres a less contrast = less black color in the standard form = more of a contrast setting for all colors before the black colors get way too black... And yet - those light streaks of Lumix are so annoying - once u point the camera towards the sun or bright lights - u r cocked up..:D Sony FTW...
Generally the TZ10 seems do be better in the area of picture sharpness and contrast. The main disadvantage with that seems to be that when a full frontal glare of light (here the car lights or in the park scene the reflection of sun light in the pond) vertical lines marr the video. So overal I would say the Sony lags behind.
@hal00475 that is called "blooming" and is a overlightning fail of the CCD. but I thing the TZ 10 takes much better pictures and videos than the HX5V as shown in this video if you can handle with this blooming effect.
Ok what's the difference between Lumix ZS7 and ZS3 for video & sound quality? I ended up buying ZS7 when i initially wanted to get the ZS3. After watching Concert King's video I am beginning to doubt my decision.

hi! i've already see how quick is too use panorama mode in the Sony DSC HX5v. But I never saw how is in the Panasonic TZ-10. how is it? fast? a bit slow? we can do it in a crowd? thanks
for me i rathe go for GERMANY made XMOR R C-MOS sensor perform a superb quality image altought it just 10megapixel only and video also ccan captureto FULL HIGH DEFINITION 1920x1080 50p active focus during take photo an capture video too overall is SUPERB QUALITY and got GPS & Geotagging.
@better8276 Actually it can capture 1920x1080 interlaced not progressive. It cannot capture 50fps, only panasonic camcorders have the capability of 1920x1080 50p...
actually i can see the winner here is obviously penasonic win at this round coz low light king is the penasonic lumix win but in sunlight the sony hx5 win so i can say is both this digital camera also great wnderful masterpiece for me.
It does show significant disparity with the TZ10 and quality dominance over the Cyber model from Sony. Great comparison given and TQ for sharing this detail. Much appreciated. I started out on this comparison anticipating the Sony to be better advance but I now am of the impression, Sony charges too much with such low mediocre research devoted to compete when they simply are not ready for this segment :((
Everyone is forgetting to mention that the Sony Hx5's audio SUCKS. Who cares that it has much better video, when the microphone is so bad? Try listening to concerts with it. You'll see what I mean. Do a search. Then listen to concerts recorded with the tz7 or the sx210. They have much better sound.
Right now I've narrowed it down to the sx210 and the tz7. I'll probably return the sx210 because of the pop up flash and the lens shadow on close up objects.
Thats matter of opinion, how u change the color, brightness and all other things in the both camera settings to be a better picture or video record ... this Comparison is not crucial ... I have see another Night records from Sony HX5 here on youtube and that was so much better quality like this here !!!
i like the brightness of the lumix by yeah.. what's up with those blue streaks?! yikes. were they set to similar settings cuz I thought the sony would be better than that. It's almost always to blurry and dark to watch?
TZ10 is better, and i'm sick of eveyone complaining about great products, just to make it more difficult for beginners like myself to choose a fucking camera. Oh, and I personally wouldn't get a DLSR because they are stupidy big and complicated
That’s true.I am not a pro.I already brought Sony HX5V.colors are pale ,soft on Sony. panny colors are bright.I am able to correct Sony Pictures to clear images on PMB sw with autocorrect option. But can we process Videos.Night pics on Sony r also not that clear with auto settings as boasted abt Exmor,HDR,etc. But if you take pictures, video with manually settings they make a lot of diff
This a a great idea to make a legitimate comparison of these 2 popular cameras - HOWEVER, unless both were set on complete default auto while videoing, then without knowing the settings you selected for each camera a comparison such as this is quite worthless and can easily mislead anyone who views it. Were both cameras on full auto while videoing?
I really was expecting the HX5V to perform A LOT better than it did in this video or, at least, better than the TZ10...
I own a TZ7 and was looking to upgrade to the HX5V but not sure if I like the less punchier video of the latter. Anyway, I've seen some raw video samples from the HX5V and they look way sharper than those from the TZ7/ZS3 (something to be expected by the greater resolution, though).
@LumixTZ7 Thanks. Perhaps if you find the time, you could prepare some sample footage and share your results. I'd be interested to see how the TZ7 is performing for you.
@0TheFreshPrince0 I have the TZ-1 too (has it been that long 2006?) Wow. And still, the sensors haven't been improved by Panasonic regarding the light streaks. I already have Pro SLR's, so for me I'll just wait for Pana to come up with 1440x1080 video and get that one. Didn't see a bid difference from my TZ-1 to TZ10 because they only went to 1280x720? So, hopefully within 6-8 months.
@LumixTZ7 The TZ10 is widely regarded as the best compact in-class currently on the market, whereas i've seen some comparably bad reviews for the HX5v and the SX210

Thank you so much your video saved me! I was justing thinking if I should get HX5 lol
Low light condition for TZ10 doesn't seem that bad huh? But the blue streaks look really funny and annoying...

That's a clear win for the Lumix! (Yay! That's the one I got hahaha)
If you need convincing check out the GNYBerlin channel. She makes all her videos with the TZ10 and they look awesome!
