First of all you don't even know what you're talking about, calling parts "deal" . Second , that "deal" you want to "flatten" is your trigger connector... mess with that, you're asking for trouble. Do you think you're smarter than the engineers at Glock ?... I don't think so. By the way, why do you need to field strip a Glock so much? It's a glock man... you can shoot the thing under water. You just don't need to field strip it that often. From a gunsmith/ gun enthusiasts. Be safe!
For crying out loud, are you kidding me? My 7 year old daughter could put that gun toghether. Its fool proof. The early Gen 4's have problems? I bought a Gen 4 right after they first came out and have not had a single issue. No malfunctions, didn't have to smooth out the bump on the trigger bar, nothing. The only thing is that Glock has improved the recoil spring and will send you a repacement for free. Jeez.
This is what happens when a 14 year old plays with a firearm. I'm not surprised you're having difficulty reassembling the pistol. Hell, you can't even speak or write English in complete sentences!
RUGER SR40C and SR9C are better than the XD and Glocks and you know it! Let me count the ways, 1) More economical, 2) Lighter Trigger, 3) Adjustable Sights, 4) Recoils less, 5) Much safer, 6) More accurate,7) Feels better, 8) Lifetime warranty, 9) Much slimmer. 10) Made in the U.S.A.
Nice Video, just reinforces my purchase in a Gen 3 Glock 17. The guys at the gun shop told me to avoid the Gen 4's as they naturally will have some issues to work out since they are so new.

Personally I think your gun is jacked up. Weird how it gets stuck sometimes and slides on smooth others. Good luck in getting it fixed. I own a gen4 G17 and have put thousands of rounds through it and I love it. Glock should give you a new one for the issues you got. Great vid on showing the problems clearly too.
i also have a glock 19 gen 4. i have shot 400 rounds through it no problems at all. my friend shot it as well and had the same problem. 15 rouds literally got hit in the face or head with 15 casings. i have only had one hit me in the head and it was from holding it to tight.
@0Kahless0 1911 are great!..but i can tell you from experience from my recent class, Out of 20 shooters, there were only 2 1911's in .45
All experienced failure to feed, numerous malfunctions. Once the mag's were dropped in the sand and dirt, major problems. One was a Para-Ordance LDA, And the other a Wilson combat custom. Simple striker fired pistol like the Glock, were flawless,1200 rounds in two days thru my G19 gen 4 with the updated recoil spring= 0 malfunctions. Love a 1911.
It's a gun. Not a toy. Don't be afraid to use some muscle to lock that slide back into place. The forces exerted upon that weapon during routine firing and cycling are much greater.
I lost respect for glock when they came out with the Gen 4. Dont get me wrong the Gen 3 is good but the Gen4 really sucks. I would'nt EDC that crap. Its just as bad as the Hi Point.
Gen 4 has a very weak ejection. Sigma, M&P,Sig, and XD are way better guns. The Gen 4 is in the same class as the Hi Point. LOL You know im telling the truth.
I'm a little lazy and I didn't read all the previous comments but, what number is stamped on your double spring assembly? Glock sent out the new 04 spring to replace the 03 spring that the first models were shipped with. The 03 spring was shipped in the 40 caliber models.
i have the same issues with the brass in the face and some failure to eject but only when i use tulammo or umc. I usually shoot federal or wnchstr white box and it runs great. premium ammo runs through it really nice too especially the plus p shit. I love my g19 gen 4 and im gonna keep it but i dont think ill ever buy a gen 4 glock again. just dont wanna take the chance..
You might want try different ammo. I had a couple bad boxes of Winchester that was causing me to think something was wrong with my 4gen. I haven't seen or experienced the trigger slide issue. So, far I've fired 1000 rounds, and the only issue I've was the weak Winchester rounds. Also, I keep the slides, barrels, trigger mech all slightly oiled, per Glocks recommendations.
I've had my 19 GEN4 for awhile now and I've had none of those problems. I'm very happy with this pistol. I've put a few hundred rounds through and it shoots amazing.
Does any know if Glock has fixed these issues yet? I will be in the market for a new gun next month and I would really like to know. Thanks for anyone willing to help.
I'm very surprised that Glock put the new Gen 4 out on the market without performing more extensive testing on it. It's kinds like they took what was not broke and fixed it until it was.
not having the shells-in-the-face problem on my 19 G4, but i did file down the bump, and that fixed the difficulty in putting the slide on. i have NOT HAD A SINGLE FAILURE WITH THE 0-3 SPRING. used wolf 115 fmj and federal 115 fmj.
If you dont know why they did something its probably cause you do not design guns for the Austrian gun maker Glock. I would ask before you ruin your warranty...
I returned my glock 19 gen 4 and exchanged it with Glock 30 sf, I had the same problem putting the slide back, since I didn't fire any round the gun shop owner took it back and now I am very happy with my decision as my new Glock 30 sf is one hardcore bulldog.
if you ever have trouble putting the slide back on like you were at some points in the video, push the trigger bar forward so the trigger is in the forward position, then try putting the slide back on. that helps me with my gen 3 glock 17
Well, how many times do you dissamble the gun apart and touch the parts from inside ? In this video you do this 6 times. Gun owners recommed not to do this several times unless you conducting an internal cleaning.
question to you, man. on your gen 3, does your recoil spring tend to set a little out of position when you field strip it? not too bad, but just a little out. i haven't owned a pistol and i'm just wondering if this is normal?
I had the same issue when removing the barrel. Turns out there is a button next to the grove on the barrel that is preventing the mounting to go smoothly. Simply hold the barrel (as it would on the gun) and press that button in (you will feel and hear a small click). Once you do that the barrel will mount the way it should.
And don't buy a beretta unless you want the slide to fly off in battery and hit you in the face as for the shells hitting you in the face that's due to the new process being used to make the glock extractors buying an after market one from lone wolf distributors should solve the problem or you can buy a gen 3 that was manufactured before 2011
@tylermusolf "And don't buy a beretta unless you want the slide to fly off in battery and hit you in the face" That problem was corrected in the 80's. So I'll take it you're speaking from ignorance.
The porpoise of that little bump is to keep the tab on the trigger bar centered on the firing pin safety I have the same thing on my gen 3 21sf just a fair warning getting rid of it will make reassembly easier but it will also void your warranty
Dude all you have to do is send it to Glock and they will fix or replace your pistol for free. It has a warranty. But if you modify it yourself you void the warranty.
As far as the rounds hitting you in the face its almost always operator error OR crappy ammo.
ive had the same problem with my gen 4, over all i like the grips of gen 4 but other than that i kinda wish they would have stayed with just gen 3 models right now. luckly you can still buy them, im thinking wait and let the problems be fixed and maybe a year or so ill get another one, but ill stick with my gen 3 for the mean time
i had those problems with my gen 3 using remington fagget umc 115gr shit, its loaded like a pixies dick. never use that shit, not to mention all the brass it leaves behind.
Ive been anti glock for quite some time. I have the xd and realized that the glock is just a superior firearm. I was just about to purchase a gen 4 before i saw these vids. Why fix somthing that isn't broken. I think I'll just get a gen 3, glock was the last company that i would expect to do something like this. First my rem 870 gives me shit and now the glock. I think I'll just get a sword!!!! Nice Vid.
@yluj0407 the new spring is intended for +p 9mm ammo as requested by the field testers for the gen4. honfire would know that if he used a search engine for more than five minutes to research the issue.
the only purpose of the bump on the trigger bar is to make the bar ride more in the center of the firing pin block many people have ground it off with no problems and then their glocks go together fine, or u could sell it and buy a M&P!!
Perhaps it's not broken in yet? Fuck it, I'm sure you know more than I do TM. I'd just call Glock and see what they say. But lately a lot of the Gen4's are having malfunctions.
Change your extractor to the older one, look at your extractor from the side, if it has a little cutout on the top you have the newer one, But an older extractor and it will fix your problem ($12.00 part)
On my gen 4 glock 27 the glock armorer told me that when putting the slide back on, when it gets to that point where the slide feels hung, pull the trigger rearward and it goes right on. It works for me, although i have absolutely no idea why the hell its like that.
Truly an odd problem with this particular weapon maybe you just got the 1 in a billion glocks that have problems. In may peoples opinion the glock design (including the gen4s) is still the absolute most reliable design. I share that opinion. Now I'll be honest I've only ever owned 1 glock, an older model 23 but with over 1000 rounds in the first 2 months never had a single failure to fire.
i donk know y its hard to put the slide bakk on. mab its suposed to be like tht for the 4th gen. i mean if u want change the housing. but mab u jus have to pull it bakk hard thats all unless someone have a g19 4th gen and they dont have that problem. ask glock they will tell u if its pose to be like that.
I think they used the heavier recoil spring in the Gen4 9mm because people are wanting to use higher pressure 9mm rounds. Does the problem get better with P+ ammo, vs standard loads. ?
okay, did you just call your audience, "bitches"? i'm not about to even watch a video that starts out with the speaker calling me a bitch. just an fyi
I have a Gen4 Glock 17 and I have put about 1000 rounds through it and field stripped it MANY times and have had NO issues. I also still have the original recoil spring and it run's like a mexican from the boarder patrol...FLAWLESSLY...
Remove the bump.I had this gun and it screamed buyers remorse.I removed that bump, that was NOT on older models by the way.Allmost all the issues have been caused by the bump. The new rsa gets the blame but most of it is the wear from that bump slowing the slide causing failures.I took it off carefull. Now it has not had any ftf, fte, nothing.By the way if the bump is removed and the glockmeister rod installed, with 17 pound stock spring,it is a gen3.While it pissed me off it is now fixed 30$.fix it.
Yes... Reset the trigger before putting slide back into place. Just push that little lever forward till it clicks (the one with the bump you pointed out in the video) and you should have no trouble putting it back together. Give it time... I'm sure the gen. 4's will prove themselves worthy or the name Glock.
I have had several problems with my Glock gen 4, too numerous to get into here. I previously had gen 2 and gen 3 and they were wonderful products. The gen 4 is a piece of shit. I am getting rid of it as soon as I can find someone dumb enough to like these gen 4's. I know a Glock rep who told me that Glock has really slipped. He no longer uses a Glock for home defense/carry. That really told me something.
@billwright331 Why don,t you simply sell, trade in? or whatever, you can bad mouth and complain from now till dooms day. I have a Gl 19 gen 4, and shoot Walmart ammo, with both the 3 and 4 spring, and it works like gem.So many complains about Glocks all guns cars, even toilet paper have problems. Even great things like Glock and Toyota, have problems over time. Glocks rock, Gen 4 included. Buy something else and chill a bit.
The GlockTalk forum has an expert who addressed the "bump" issue on the trigger bar. I asked him what this bump was for? He said it does not come into contact with any internal parts, its strictly for identification purposes. So filing it down may make the slide go on easier but would not decrease trigger pull. He did say the trigger bar on the gen 4 kicks up higher and takes longer to release from the striker, hence the hard trigger pull. Put a 3.5lb connector a 6lb trigger spring on it.
You need to depress the two side buttons in order to put the slide back. There is a internal gate that is remaining up when you are trying to put the slide back. You should not force the slide back!
Did you get the new spring yet from Glock. and did you get all the problems fixed My newer gen 4 19 came with the new spring and i have yet had a problem with it. If you can do a follow up vid on it
Ive had ejection problems also! I dont know exactly why but even with a firm grip you still get more eject failures than normal.??? hopefully its something that will just go away because i love the gun as a whole
also, that bump on your trigger bar tab is to keep the tab centered as it engages the striker safety. look through the mag well as you pull the trigger and then compare the movement of the trigger bar tab versus your gen 3 g19 trigger bar.
i don't have time to read all your comments. the gun won't go back together because you need to put the striker in the forward position before trying to reassemble. press the striker safety and let the striker forward before putting the slide back on the frame. also, your ejecting issue is not a recoild spring issue, its a.... wait for it.... ejector issue. don't worry about what everyone on GT is saying. get a new trigger housing.
hey I was having the same issue field stripping my g19. In my case it was the new recoil spring catching on itself. Check and see if the recoil spring rolls smoothly on a table / flat surface. If not try having glock send you a new spring
My Gen 4 Glock runs flawless. Just the opposite of yours. No jams. No issues. Glock perfection. And it has the heavy recoil spring too. Reassembly is smooth as butter. I got a few buddies that don't have any trouble out of their gen 4's. Their's all run perfect too.
Have put nearly two thousand rounds through my gen4 17 and have never had a single issue. Never misfired, field strip goes without a hitch, and always ejects perfectly... just how you put it "flawless".
I dont know if anyone has told suggested to you or not but pull the trigger forward before re-attaching your slide. it should help your hangup prob...
First round stove piped in my 4, several FTF and FTE after that. Like a bad woman I kicked her to the curb cause I just couldn't trust her. Traded for a Gen 3 and life is good. Glock, you all screwed up with that Gen 4 p.o.s.
I've got extended magazine releases for my Gen 3 G17 and G19, I don't care for the look of the Gen 4 grip and adjustable backstraps seem un-necessary for me at least. Those other changes sound like fail.
When reassembling, depress the firing pin safety. Some of the gen3s are this way as well. Glock is making the "04" guide rod assembly with lighter springs for the Gen4 G19 and they just started shipping them, call them and tell them what's happening with yours and ask for the 04 guide rod. Another possibility: Glock has bad runs of out-of-spec extractors once in a while, you might try replacing your extractor if the 04 guide rod doesn't solve the problem.
@voyager4520 Are you serious!!!! Glock made a correct 9mm spring weight for the Gen 4 9mm's? how can I get a hold of one? Do you have to call glock? Or is there a way to purchase on over the internet? I've always bought parts over the internet and never had a problem, does an internet site carry it?
I would say that the bump on the trigger bar probably helps keep the trigger bar from flexing as much as the gen 3 which contributes to a mushy, creepy trigger. As for brass ejection have you verified by inserting a dummy round that the ejector is hitting the brass where it should? Sounds to me like it might be hitting to close to the center instead of the left.
the first thing i noticed abt my gen 4 g19 was that on the last round it would throw the brass and hit me right between the eyes. ddnt feel good either however after 500 rounds or so it quit doing it. i have been told that the little bump is to keep the trigger bar centered on the firing pin safety.
Anyway, I just don't get it. Of all things the G17/19 were never broken. The fucking best running handgun ever in the history of mankind. Why they would change the recoil system in those guns is beyond me. Sure, change the frame texture if you must and of course the mag release is long overdue and the backstraps are a good idea as well. Copped from the Magpul MIAD which gives every shooter the ability to customize the feel of his gun. But the spring? Why? It WAS perfect...
@TMHonfire102 My brother in law has the same gun and his usto jam a lot the first 3-4 times he used it, i would say about 4-5 rounds for every 200-250 round session. But after him putting more than 1500-2000 rounds into it a year or so later I think the recoil spring loosened up a bit because now it only has 1, maybe 2 jams per 250 round session, not bad, but still a problem, some people say it can also be the mags because my gen 3 G31 mag are different on the feeding mechanism of the mag at top
@RobbieGTV Its really simple... economics. They can buy more springs for all of their .40 calibers so they can either get them for cheaper from whoever is making that for them, or they can minimize personnel, downtime for changing the machinery to make a less stiff spring, transportation cost for bringing in a metal of different hardness for a smaller or greater k value for the spring, save space, save time, make the manufacturing process more streamlined... and these are just a few.
If you recall, before Gen 4 ever came out after 20+ years of shooting Glocks I said the same thing about the Gen3 .40. Glock has a REALLY bad habit of copping out lazy and just swapping parts around between calibers like it doesn't matter. They did it with the Gen 3 .40s using the 9MM spring which is too heavy and causes the gun to have way more flip and shoot marginal at best. Now they did it opposite with a .40 spring in the 9MM.
Glock really messed up the GEN4, They make you get a RTF, they made changes that hurt performance, and you still have to replace the parts at 3-5000 rounds. I think they are falling off. I will only own Gen 3's.
i don't know what they did but i am sure i will start getting these coming into the shop. i haven't gotten a fourth gen in yet but after seeing this i am sure it won't be long. i will let you know if i find out whats up
First of all you don't even know what you're talking about, calling parts "deal" . Be safe!

So I'll take it you're speaking from ignorance.
aaronscrewme 6 months ago
The porpoise of that little bump is to keep the tab on the trigger bar centered on the firing pin safety I have the same thing on my gen 3 21sf just a fair warning getting rid of it will make reassembly easier but it will also void your warranty
tylermusolf 7 months ago
Dude all you have to do is send it to Glock and they will fix or replace your pistol for free. It has a warranty. But if you modify it yourself you void the warranty.
As far as the rounds hitting you in the face its almost always operator error OR crappy ammo.

ive had the same problem with my gen 4, over all i like the grips of gen 4 but other than that i kinda wish they would have stayed with just gen 3 models right now. luckly you can still buy them, im thinking wait and let the problems be fixed and maybe a year or so ill get another one, but ill stick with my gen 3 for the mean time

Nice Vid.
yluj0407 9 months ago
@yluj0407 the new spring is intended for +p 9mm ammo as requested by the field testers for the gen4. honfire would know that if he used a search engine for more than five minutes to research the issue.

the only purpose of the bump on the trigger bar is to make the bar ride more in the center of the firing pin block many people have ground it off with no problems and then their glocks go together fine, or u could sell it and buy a M&P!!
trippyhatesu 9 months ago
Perhaps it's not broken in yet? Fuck it, I'm sure you know more than I do TM. I'd just call Glock and see what they say. But lately a lot of the Gen4's are having malfunctions.

Change your extractor to the older one, look at your extractor from the side, if it has a little cutout on the top you have the newer one, But an older extractor and it will fix your problem ($12.00 part)

On my gen 4 glock 27 the glock armorer told me that when putting the slide back on, when it gets to that point where the slide feels hung, pull the trigger rearward and it goes right on. It works for me, although i have absolutely no idea why the hell its like that.
ucantcloneme 10 months ago
Truly an odd problem with this particular weapon maybe you just got the 1 in a billion glocks that have problems. In may peoples opinion the glock design (including the gen4s) is still the absolute most reliable design. I share that opinion. Now I'll be honest I've only ever owned 1 glock, an older model 23 but with over 1000 rounds in the first 2 months never had a single failure to fire.
tubevideoguy762 10 months ago

i donk know y its hard to put the slide bakk on. mab its suposed to be like tht for the 4th gen. i mean if u want change the housing. but mab u jus have to pull it bakk hard thats all unless someone have a g19 4th gen and they dont have that problem. ask glock they will tell u if its pose to be like that.

I think they used the heavier recoil spring in the Gen4 9mm because people are wanting to use higher pressure 9mm rounds. Does the problem get better with P+ ammo, vs standard loads. ?

This is nothing to do with it. Standard Glocks handle +P ammo just fine, and have been rated for it for decades.

4's will prove themselves worthy or the name Glock.
handy777 1 year ago
RESET THE TRIGGER!!!! Generation 4 Glocks must have their trigers reset before sliding the slide back on after dissasembly.
=) Try it and let me know if it worked

I have had several problems with my Glock gen 4, too numerous to get into here. I previously had gen 2 and gen 3 and they were wonderful products. The gen 4 is a piece of shit. I am getting rid of it as soon as I can find someone dumb enough to like these gen 4's. I know a Glock rep who told me that Glock has really slipped. He no longer uses a Glock for home defense/carry. That really told me something.
billwright331 1 year ago
@billwright331 Why don,t you simply sell, trade in? or whatever, you can bad mouth and complain from now till dooms day. I have a Gl 19 gen 4, and shoot Walmart ammo, with both the 3 and 4 spring, and it works like gem.So many complains about Glocks all guns cars, even toilet paper have problems. Even great things like Glock and Toyota, have problems over time. Glocks rock, Gen 4 included. Buy something else and chill a bit.
surfside006 11 months ago
The GlockTalk forum has an expert who addressed the "bump" issue on the trigger bar. I asked him what this bump was for? He said it does not come into contact with any internal parts, its strictly for identification purposes. So filing it down may make the slide go on easier but would not decrease trigger pull. He did say the trigger bar on the gen 4 kicks up higher and takes longer to release from the striker, hence the hard trigger pull. Put a 3.5lb connector a 6lb trigger spring on it.
oldairforcedude 1 year ago
You need to depress the two side buttons in order to put the slide back. There is a internal gate that is remaining up when you are trying to put the slide back. You should not force the slide back!

Ive had ejection problems also! I dont know exactly why but even with a firm grip you still get more eject failures than normal.??? hopefully its something that will just go away because i love the gun as a whole
Anthonyclaunch 1 year ago
also, that bump on your trigger bar tab is to keep the tab centered as it engages the striker safety. look through the mag well as you pull the trigger and then compare the movement of the trigger bar tab versus your gen 3 g19 trigger bar.
jbarbaresi 1 year ago
i don't have time to read all your comments. the gun won't go back together because you need to put the striker in the forward position before trying to reassemble. press the striker safety and let the striker forward before putting the slide back on the frame. also, your ejecting issue is not a recoild spring issue, its a.... wait for it.... ejector issue. don't worry about what everyone on GT is saying. get a new trigger housing.
jbarbaresi 1 year ago
I can't really say I'm familiar with Glocks but everyone who pays attention knows that Glock is famous for their reliability.
I don't understand why Glock would mess with the mojo. If it works, don't try to fix something that isn't broker.
bsrman36 1 year ago
My gen4 glock 17 was doing the same thing. The lip of the recoil spring would get stuck on the slide too when I was stripping it.
16dNails 1 year ago
hey I was having the same issue field stripping my g19. In my case it was the new recoil spring catching on itself. Check and see if the recoil spring rolls smoothly on a table / flat surface. If not try having glock send you a new spring
jcootch 1 year ago
My Gen 4 Glock runs flawless. Just the opposite of yours. No jams. No issues. Glock perfection. And it has the heavy recoil spring too. Reassembly is smooth as butter. I got a few buddies that don't have any trouble out of their gen 4's. Their's all run perfect too.

When reassembling, depress the firing pin safety. Some of the gen3s are this way as well. Glock is making the "04" guide rod assembly with lighter springs for the Gen4 G19 and they just started shipping them, call them and tell them what's happening with yours and ask for the 04 guide rod. Another possibility: Glock has bad runs of out-of-spec extractors once in a while, you might try replacing your extractor if the 04 guide rod doesn't solve the problem.
voyager4520 1 year ago

RobbieGTV 1 year ago
@RobbieGTV ya the damn 40 cal spring in a 9mm is not the best thing glock done
TMHonfire102 1 year ago 9
@TMHonfire102 My brother in law has the same gun and his usto jam a lot the first 3-4 times he used it, i would say about 4-5 rounds for every 200-250 round session. But after him putting more than 1500-2000 rounds into it a year or so later I think the recoil spring loosened up a bit because now it only has 1, maybe 2 jams per 250 round session, not bad, but still a problem, some people say it can also be the mags because my gen 3 G31 mag are different on the feeding mechanism of the mag at top
SSSDiaz7 6 months ago
@RobbieGTV Its really simple... economics. They can buy more springs for all of their .40 calibers so they can either get them for cheaper from whoever is making that for them, or they can minimize personnel, downtime for changing the machinery to make a less stiff spring, transportation cost for bringing in a metal of different hardness for a smaller or greater k value for the spring, save space, save time, make the manufacturing process more streamlined... and these are just a few.
garzac7815 11 months ago
Man you always manage to have problems. lol.
