Good effort. I did notice some mistakes. Most have already been picked by others. But I also noticed when you introduced the spitfire. You showed a formation of mustangs. Possibly P51Bs'. They have the earlier type malcolm cockpit canopy.
Very similar to a spitfire. So I can understand the mistake.
@noonsight2010 You pathetic little piece of scum, and I can smell you from here. Go on, keep it up, I fucking love writing to cunts like you and getting paid whilst doing it. I'm at work now. See ya, YOU CUNT. ''''''''''''''''''
@echo599ismybitch You only demean youself with such postings, you sad, inarticulate, uneducated imbecile. Incidentally, I wonder if you will keep your job if your employer is aware. Police can obtain your details from internet servioce providers, as you have committed an offence.
There has been a long debate over the decades about the outcome of the Battle of Britain. I think the general consensus is that it was at least a winning draw for the UK in that it achieved what it set out to do and the Germans hadn't. BTW, it was not the RAF alone that did the work but all the advantages of having the worlds first integrated defence network including rapidly repaired communications and, of course, radar! Also, we had the big advantage that downed enemy crews had no way home.
Actually Whittle invented the jet engine and described BOTH main forms of it in patents. Also realised that centrifugal type would be less powerful than axial flow, and would be easier to make and more reliable with metallurgy of his time, and that axial would have good performance but a very short service interval. UK chose to develop the reliable one. Von Ohain chose to develop powerful one, and as Whittle predicted it had reliability problems, short service interval, and was very expensive
glostermeteor - was not the first jet propelled aircraft. The gloster Whittle was. The meteor was the RAF's first operational jet fighter. The first picture of the tempest was a spitfire!
If it was your first shot at this good effort - if not, well a bit of work needed!
@dpsherry Although jet engines invented in UK by Whittle, due to idiocy of UK government Prof von Ohain, Germany, got technical details and teamed up with Heinkel to make World's first jet plane, He 178. Gloster EH 101 "Whittle" was first British jet plane (experimental), and led to Meteor which became first British jet in squadron service at about same time as Messerschmitt 262 became Germany's first operational jet.
@CaptBubble Really? I certainly don't doubt the level of stupidity exhibited by the then and now British governments but that's another story. As the British jet engines have no resemblance to the German ones at all - completely different designs - I would argue that history demonstrates that the German, British and Italians were working on the same tech at about the same time albeit on different designs. Design limitations in the British jet engines though, gave the Germans the edge.
@dpsherry British, German and Italian desgners were all working on jet engines. But Whittle was years ahead, having conceived and worked on it as early as 1926 and having patented it in 1930.
Couple of things. The Buffalo was made by Brewster in the USA. As stated, the first spitfire shot was of a Mustang and the final shot was of a Spit. Just not a battle of Brittian one. It's a clipped wing later model.
@OsamaBinLadenx The RAf had pilots from all over the world serving and who participated in the B of B. This included not just Commonwealth pilots but Isrealis, Czechs, Americans, French etc. The Poles had the highest kill ratio of any nationality and had superior aeriel combat tactics to the RAF. For example, they refused to fly the RAF three aircraft formation which often resulted in the loss of "tail end Charlie". The lesson was learned by the RAF.
the p51 was named the mustang by the RAF

My favourite piece of music, and if I may say so - very fitting as a remembrance for all the people that died during WWII, it is so beautiful.
Anyway, according to many sources the Spitfire, although certainly well represented, wasn't the mainstay of the Battle of Britain - the Hurricane was.
