  • This is unrelated, but I don't have a middle name, and am planning on taking the name Chiyoko. If by some circumstances I become a resident or citizen of Japan, I'll take the name Chiyoko Fujiwara. <3 This movie is amazing, and even after death Kon Satoshi will never cease to be amazing.

  • Best - movie - ever

  • Millennium Actress is one of the only movies that can make me cry on command. Beautiful, engaging, and heartrending.

  • this song is amazing and it changed my life

  • Beautiful story, beautiful animation, beautiful music, and overall just beautiful. One of my favorite films by Satoshi Kon. I'm still torn by his death, he was one of my favorite animators. His work will live on. <3

  • the song is only 3:45 long

  • This movie was too beautiful for words T____T

  • Love last forever...

  • i cry every time i hear this song i love this music the whole movie its just amazing

  • I cried during most of the parts in this movie. It's just so touching, and here I am sitting in my chair on the brink of crying. Such a beautiful movie. Utterly. Beautiful.

  • I love this movie. Is a true romantic movie to the core. So beatiful.

  • One year since the director left us. God I wish he can show more of his world to us.

  • absolutely amazing...i always daydream when hear ths song.

  • very good (`・ω・´)

  • The rhythm bring me back to the movie, the movie of "pursuing". One step forward whole heartily to pursue, the story begins and ends. How sad it is, how beautiful it is. God I love this movie.

  • slow melody of "rotation".

  • this movie just changed my life!!!

  • This is stunning. It gives a real nice rise of happiness.

Can someone explain to me what this movie was about? I was quite confused ^^'

  • @zombiesquirrels8D basically Millenium Actress told the story of chiyoko fujiwara, who back during her youth was a famous actress. of course, along with being an actress, she had met an artist who she let take refuge at her home. along with telling chiyoko's story, the movie was a 'play within a play', so some scenes seemed more confusing than others. pretty much though the movie was about the famous chiyoko's life of acting, plus her own chasing of the artist she had fallen in love with.

  • @EmiieRoxs Ohh. Thanks! Because I was so confused whether if the scenes they were showing were real, like from her past, or movie clips. So I didn't understand what was going on. But now i get it a little more :3 Thanks again!

  • @zombiesquirrels8D It chronicled chiyoko's search for a man whom she fell in love with, and showed the acting roles she was given as an aspiring actress, and how they paralleled her search for the artist.

think of it like she was hallucinating while running after someone.

  • @THEgraphicHALFELF Oh wow. That's so much easier to understand. Thank you!!! *O*

  • In Taipei, this song is used as background music for TV commercials selling newly built apartments.

  • Is the language Thai or Laos?

  • @CutieHoney13 Its thai ^^

  • @CutieHoney13 The language is Thai (afaik). :)

  • This and memoirs of a geisha are kind of the same. Even the names Chiyo and Chiyoko are close. I love both movies<3

  • Now I'm happy

  • great picure and music!

  • This is one of the best animated films ever. I was in awe when I finished it.

  • Love hearing over and over...

  • i feel like crying, Satoshi left us too soon

  • The lyrics are Thai language ! (The lyrics mean "Don't say...don't say...don't say the word 'if' don't say the word 'pass' )

    I was so surprise.

  • @momomimee that's not surprising since the artist got a lot of his influence from Thailand. His name is Hirasawa Susumu and anyone who loves this song will be blown away by his other works!

  • @omnipossum92 Wow!

    Thanks.

  • I love Chiyoko. Satoshi Kon has created such an endearing and bittersweet story. RIP. To Kon and Chiyoko.

  • RIP S. Kon. What a loss for all of us who love anime.

  • Does anyone know the lyrics to this song?

  • @simsc79 No official lyrics that I know of, but I keep hearing "e a ui" for part of it, if that helps.

  • By the way, thank you Satoshi Kon for giving us this masterpiece. I wish you the best wherever you are.

  • @OldbOy2k8

    He's dead :(

  • @LadyMurderMaid I know he is : (

  • @OldbOy2k8

    waaah

  • One of the best movies I've ever seen, including no anime films. This theme it's nostalgic, specially if you saw the movie, but mainly it's beautiful and sends me back into my memories with a magical sense of optimism.

  • Thank you Satoshi Kon. From Paprika to this Mellenium, I am picking up every jewerlly you have left us with.

Thank you Japanese. Your creativity keeping dream what it is in this world.

  • I love Satoshi Kon. He was the best...

  • Super amazing and very touching... i wish all drama movies are good as this one...

  • It is in this moment, I remember I great man... who filled many with the will to continue persuing their dreams. While the dreams of many may appear so distant and fleeting... the provide us with the hope to continue living. To keep striving for what may well be unreachable... but with the hope we gain from such dreams, how could we ever give up?

  • R.I.P. Satoshi Kon, you left us with a legacy of great films that will make you live on in our hearts forever :')

  • R.I.P. ;(

  • whata lovely theme...this is what introduced me to Satoshi Kons films. Now he's sadly dead.RIP.

  • Good Bye Satoshi Kon. Thanks for some of the most fascinating moments in anime and film in general. Sayonara!

So sad, but he must be hanging out with Osamu Tezuka =)

  • @ShinSennju Now you've ruined me. The tears I've held in so well have finally overflowed. Nice image, though, isn't it? Tezuka n' Kon, smiling and having a good'old time in heaven (or wherever they are).

  • I'm going to go and watch millenium actress again for the 20th time and cry : (

  • This is the Requiem for Satoshi Kon...Good Bye Satoshi and good luck in the afterlife...We will miss you and thank you for the legacy

  • Simple Purity. A story about love and never loosing your innocence, even death couldn't stop that.

  • I ljust love this song. It's so... I don't know how to sat that... pure? n_n

  • I don't know why people hate the music in Satoshi Kon's movies. They're always beautiful. I like this song

  • @michaeljacksonyall its cuz theyre not studio ghibli and disney is practically forcing those movies down are throats

  • @michaeljacksonyall When I watched this movie I thought the soundtrack was perfect! It fit the movie so well. I don't know why someone could hate it at all.

  • @hatti369 Yeah It's crazy. I love the whole soundtrack it's so grand and beautiful

  • I honestly didn't expect to get smacked in the face with emotion when this song started, but here I am with watery eyes. Now I need to watch this movie again.

  • i cried so much when i heard this song again it makes me feel so sad to think about what happened in this movie i love it so much but it is so sad.

  • @Anielca22

me too, because her whole life she was just chasing a shadow and the real man never existed, and by being an actress her sad story was told to the world.

  • This song is absolutely stunning. I can't say it any better than that.

  • i like this movie best satoshi kon one yet and one i casn show at school XD thankies so muchies for posting

  • This movie was amazing, I always loved watching this.....this is my favorite Satoshi Kon movie....

  • i loved i too. but it's allways gone when i go to the video store

  • When I saw this movie, I almost cried every time I heard this song. It was such a good movie, and I love this song!

  • The ending to the movie makes me so sad, but also happy. It's a weird feeling....

  • I know what you mean - considering what happened, it's probably the best outcome for her, because at least she can pass on knowing that the moon isn't yet full. It would've been really sad if she'd found out what'd happened to her painter, but there's no way Genya would devastate her like that.

  • Yeah - I just watched it again, and as soon as I heard this song tears started welling up in my eyes. It wasn't even an innately sad part, but remembering everything that happens with this song in the backdrop got to me.

  • yeah I like never cry in movies but this one was different. I hope she found the painter in the end...

  • His music... Susumu... it seems suitable for full length movies... probably not as good for television series.

  • Muy bonita cancion!!! very nice song. thanks for uploading it
