The world record for the fastest house is 2 hours 45 min. The Building Industry Assoc of San Diego County held a contest in 1983. Four 1500SF 3bd2bath houses with landscaping were constructed with the last two build as a race between two 350 person teams. A video is available from the building assoc.
The house didn't take 4 months to build; there were no tricks or dupes in this. Watch the video again, and take note that the forestry doesn't change, and that this never shifts to night.
Wow, what a bunch of cynical, miserable people you commenters are. What's the matter, this place looks a whole lot better than the rundown, dilapidated trailers you live in? Jealous a little? Why don't you drag your sorry butts away from the tube for five minutes and do something for someone else. Might improve your moods a little.
I think the fastest stick build house NOT prefab is 6 hours 45 mins with 300 workers with all the stuff laid out 2x4's all the borads siding, fast drying cement Truck for the foundation ect... at the starting line
Wow that as fast, every time they do one like that im too busy to go watch, id love to see one being built with a beer in one hand and sitting on a lawn chair lol ,
what a bunch of crap, how long did it take to prefab everything,, does this time not count, how about delevery time from companies, yard sorting and misc time spent designing, organizing ect, add up all the officail times and your talking reality, i like what the company stands for, just give us the real deal and not the bull. congrats
yeah i agree with you on that... they were only adding up the time spent actually erecting the house and what not and not all the others... delivery, etc....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
They sped up the video that's why it *looks* like it only took several hours to build. It actually took them 4 months to build it. You can do all kinds of tricks with cameras these days!
Hey say what you want but that was an awsome experiance...I worked for Rives Construction at the time and I was on the wall crew...we had one day of prep to get a pattern for how we would do all that. Then I helped set the roof in place, insulate the attic and lay sod in the yard.....I'll never forget that day...still got the t-shirt hangin in the closet!!!
According to a video by ManicTrader How to Build a House in 3 hours pt2 the time for fastest home built is 2hr 53min. I dont know which one was first but they used drywall and landscaped the home.
while I agree with the efforts and will of the charity, I don't think this deserves the prize of fastest house. Atreyu is right, why not just drop a "prefabbed" house down? What I wanna see is you guys have an acre of forest, you can cut down trees, maybe cut up some rocks, build a freekin' castle... K GO *SHOOTS GUN*
There is also no sheetrock in the house because it would have taken too much time for it to set and dry and be sanded. The ceiling is made of MDF. But none of would have been possible without the Associated General Contractors and the dozens and dozens of contractors who volunteered their time and equipment and money, as well as Alabama Power and Lowe's.
BTW, the voice at the end of the video announcing the time is mine.
I was in charge of this project. It took months to plan. And no corners were cut. We operated with a set of critieria established by previous Habitat speed-building projects. The foundation wall and decks were built ahead of time, per the rules. We were also allowed to run any wiring, plumbing, etc. under the deck. The walls were pre-fabbed but not assembled. We started with the walls stacked on top of the deck.
well.... damn.. ok i can break this record with my ass straped down. ill rip up a small villa with a crane. take all the eletric into one freakisly large plug. stick it in the ground. drop the house. BAMM 2minutes!!!!
I've seen this video a very long time ago, but still awesome... just, it was plain house build in fast-motion, not some close captures of the guys building it....
By the way... I love the music used on the credits and when they are building the house... does anybody know if it is avaible somewhere?
A tornado could probably knock that house down from a mile away! The record is false if you take into account the months of planning, prefabricated walls, the foundation, and not to mention the 200+ labor force. Bullshit!!!
all the pre fabricated parts took more than than three hours plus to build its no record to me pre fabricate a whole house in a factory and drop it on the block thats faster.
thats freaking amazing! these guys should build homes for a living imagine leaving for work in the morning and looking at an empty lot across the street only to come home and see a brand new completed house there!!
People will only accept fast computer technology but not in other fields even seen w/ their eyes. You have to take into account how many people they had working too. That and it HAS to be cheap, its H.F.H. for God sakes, its had to be affordable to families who don't have home or can't afford a nice one. They are going to take what they can get
Half of you cannot even construct a grammatically sound sentence; if only ignorance were as silent as it were bliss...The house is 15 mins. away from my house & is still enjoyed by the original owner, a friend since I planned the constr. of her home, w/ the help of 75+ qualified sponsors and the final appr. of a cty. home insp. Ms. Lily is grateful to own her "speedy" home, as prior to its constr., she had NO home. It just goes to show how easily the "have's" THANK NOT.
why are they arguing about someone trying to have something decent? Jealous can blind many on lookers. It proves that ignorance can fry our brain and make us forget about what is good.
