also how do you record you bass? I can never get a good sound

with this cover I just plugged the bass directly to my computer sound card. It's an Audigy2 Sound Blaster. I EQ it raising the mids for a less "muddy" sound. lately I've been just micing my amp using a dynamic mic. To me it sounds a little clearer anyway. (still EQ it right after though)

Agreed. good ear for noticing that. Yeah, I tried to hide it as much as i could but the drum sim that I have can sound horribly fake with poor mixing. So other than just a real kit, any tips and suggestions?

I awesome Nirvana covers! your singer sounds just like Cobain. He's got that raspy I-got-marbles-in-my-mouth Cobain vocals down real good! Great job!

you use beat craft right, I downloaded mine so dunno if you have the same

but try using the smart loops kit or use the low-fi drum kit - it sounds more real.

it's the snare drum and bass drum that gives it away

That's sounds extremely good considering you just used a sound card's line in to record. I especially like the tone of the bass and the vocals are nice and clear. Overall GREAT cover.

you're playing it perfectly right. but thats maybe the problem. although it's a cover i think one should recognize that you're another band. cause you're doin it the same way weezer do, without the loud parts of singin and stuff. sounds like a nice version of the song.. without rocking and feeling the song, if you got what i mean??

Thanks! Still learning the art of mixing stuff lol. I think Rivers used a humbucker on the album to get that dark warm tone. I believe he uses an SG live. I used a Strat single coil (bridge position) which is probably why the rhythm distortion is bright (and i'm terrible at mixing)

The Marshall I is a combo. The speaker is the stock - Marshall heritage G12. It's been good to me. I like to use it for recording because it has an XLR output. But this is usually used as a practice amp. Hope this helps. Glad you liked the tone.
