This song was sung by probably 20 different groups including the Doobie Brothers. And it's known as Drift Away (Give Me the Beat Boys). So yeah. The guy that posted it isn't exactly wrong. Dobie Gray did it best. John Henry Kurtz did it first. d21lewis did it all night long.

actually john henry kurtz recorded it before dobie gray covered it. and this version, it's actually the doobie bros' cover of drift away.
