Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote in his autobiography:
"The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism."
That was his description of the 1964 Republican National Convention. He also referred to the Republican convention as "the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right."
"I don't think he was a strong enough jurist" means Obama is pissed that Thomas is a black man who has left the plantation. Funny how when it is a liberal appointment, minority becomes such a huge selling point (aka Sotomayor) but when it is a republican minority appointment, doesn't stop them at all from attacking them.
Fox News. This story isn't relevant enough at all to be on any other news station. Who gives a shit what Kmiec says. If you're still watching the channel that gave you "Friendly gesture or terrorist fist bump?" then you're a moron.
First off: I am a Democrat and an Obama supporter.
To be honest, Clarence Thomas is not too great of a justice on the court. He just doesn't seem to have much legal and judicial philosophy.
Only reason why he got put in to the court by Bush is because he wanted a Black man to fill the vacant seat.
And it's not that i dislike conservative judges. I probably am one of the few Democrats who likes John Roberts and Antonin Scalia for their philosophies.
"The founders made the political judgment that, given
the circumstances at the time , the best defense of
the declaration's principles and , ironically , the
most beneficial course for the slaves themselves was
to compromise with slavery while , at the same time ,
establishing a union that , at its root , was devoted
to the principle of human equality."
Clarence Thomas
Sounds like he's still on the plantation....
