How to Play Videos From Your iPad to a TV

would you recommend just connecting the ipad2 to my tv or should I also get the apple tv? I am interested in watching netflick and youtube. I am concern that the quality of the movies will be bad..? I have an ipad 2 and a full hd sansung tv. do u know if the nextflick play in full HD with the ipad2?

Bad:

- requires the Apple VGA Adapter.

- the external screen stays black with most apps (including Safari), except when playing videos.

Good:

- There are apps(*) out there that let you project web pages + video on the external screen

- The Apple VGA Adapter works also on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th Generation.

lol...if you look at the APPLE store under comments, you will see a crap load of complains about this VGA...IT DOES NOT mirror the ipad desktop...it will not protected video you purchase at Itunes...it only plays basically limited videos...there's alot of people bitchin about the how they are paying overly priced APPLE crap and fed up with it...but APPLE doesn;t care..they're out to make money.

I didn't read all of the comments, buy sorry if this is a double post.

The iPad will not play movies downloaded from iTunes or any video that is in a protected format via the VGA adapter. Ironically, you can play pirated movies with no problem.

Important to note: The VGA adapter currently only works with videos, youtube, and pictures. 

It does NOT work with the ABC TV app or the Netflix app. Also, video on the iPad does not update while viewing on an external monitor. For me, the VGA output was a huge letdown.
