God doesn't seem that holy, when he banishes people into eternal hell fire just for not believing in him. You could be the kindest person in the world, and get sent to hell just for not believing in a god? That seems just about batshit crazy to me.
@Ejet1223 Sounds crazy to me too. That's not why he does it. He does it because he rightly evaluates us as evil - and also WANTING TO REMAIN EVIL. "Believing in him" is tied up with change. If we want to change, if we see what we are and don't like it, he will rescue us. Most folks tell him to buzz off, not because they want a hell, but because they like to run their own lives, and that means "evil" unfortunately. All of us. Who hasn't lied, stolen, lusted, hurt someone at least once?
@RDD756 You are correct. The whole subject lies at the very edge of our perception, and science can't get to it at all. Still, there are so many many anecdotal accounts occurring just at the moment of death, in addition to a few very detailed accounts from near death experiences. The biblical account matches these descriptions. I even have a friend whose cousin's father-in-law asked for his relatives to put out a fire "in his hospital room" that he saw the very moment he died! Could it be hell?
Actually science CAN get to "it all" in these cases. It's called a DMT trip. Your brain releases a massive amount of the stuff in near death circumstance, and also to a lesser degree in sleep.
There has been extensive research by a few people in this area, and the evidence strongly suggests that DMT is largely responsible for alien abductions, out of body experiences, heaven and hell experiences, etc.
That's not to say there isn't a soul. But the idea of heaven and hell with god responsible is both appalling and unreasonable. I'm sorry but I've experienced this. I also have two friends, brothers, who died for minutes each. There isn't a heaven or a hell. There is a place with unimaginable potential, that cannot be pegged by a black/white view of heaven and hell. You can make it hell, you can let it be heaven. And that's the best way to put it as words don't do the trick.
@RDD756 Just keep pretending that there is no justice in the universe and then find out for sure once it's too late! Good strategy! (Insert evil laughter here!)
@HypaSonicDeathMonkey So, I take it you've been to hell and back and therefore speak with authority? Thank you for another statement of religious belief, but I prefer evidence. My evidence is NDEs here. If you have evidence, please reply, but no more religious remarks without evidence please.
@HypaSonicDeathMonkey How do you explain someone who is unconscious on a hospital bed, but can recount a conversation that occurred at the same time in another part of the building? Your naturalism does not hold up.
evidence and perception are not the same thing. the fact that you use that as your justification, and also are an opponent of post-modernism is XD XD XD awesome.
@HypaSonicDeathMonkey You'll find out for sure one second after your death. In the mean time, keep pretending there is no justice in the universe so you can keep on believing and doing whatever you want!
@CntthnkO15 It's a little harder to write off the incidents where unconscious patients have recounted conversations at the operating table, or even in adjoining rooms. People possess a spirit - we're not just meat and chemicals.
@alyosha24601 All that says is the mind wasn't sleeping, just the body was. Does not mean you can go around making shit up by saying it was a spirit. That's called being delusional.
@CntthnkO15 It's delusional to claim a spiritual nature when an unconscious hospital patient later recounts a conversation, event, or object a hundred feet away? I'd say if these things really happen, that your materialistic, naturalistic worldview is seriously in error. You need to align with reality. Of course, if they are not happening anywhere on the globe, then sure, I am delusional. Yes, if there are no miracles, no God, no knowledge of the future, etc., then I need to join the party!
@alyosha24601 All that says is the mind wasn't sleeping, just the body was. Does not mean you can go around making shit up by saying it was a spirit. What I said still stands... Nice little tangent you went on there though. THE MIND IS AWAKE, THE BODY IS PARALYZED. This is called a lucid dream or NDE. You can purposefully induce yourself to either of these things. It is quite easy, YouTube it. I bet you'll love it, MAGIC, haha.
@CntthnkO15 Look, I'm not mad at you, I'm not just trying to argue, but just let me point out the logic: A person's mind may be awake, but how is it possible to recount an event that happened on another floor of a building? You can dream but you can't accurately relate an event you were not there to observe. This is exactly what witnesses relate. I don't think you are just chemicals and electricity CntthnkO - you have an eternal spirit.
@alyosha24601 Being a skeptic, I wouldn't believe nonsense like that for a second. Just like any of that UFO bullshit, the crap the media feeds you, accepting Jesus will get you a one way ticket to Heaven after you're dead, blah blah. No thank you, you got some proof? I'd love to see it.
@CntthnkO15 How about fulfilled prophecy in the Bible? Only God predicts the future accurately. If you recognized that certain predictions were made and fulfilled regarding the future, would you be shaken and ask God for mercy? What sort of proof would you accept?
@alyosha24601 If everything in the bible was 100% true, I'd believe it. Anyone can make guesses and say I'm right if they get one out of a hundred correct. And show me all the prophecies that came true. And it doesn't prove God's existence because the contradictions in the creation story wouldn't allow God to exist. Unless God lied in the bible about how the earth was created, or made a mistake or something like that; but God doesn't make mistakes, he is all knowing, all powerful, omnipresent...
@CntthnkO15 There are prophecies in the Bible that were fulfilled 2500 years after they were made to the exact day! I know of three of them. Hundreds of exact prophecies, not including those about the future, which you're about to see. There is even an amazing code beneath the text, and a "web" of sevens, in addition to other mathematics. I've been studying the Bible 40 years, have a Master's in OT, and still find more and more. It's there, but your heart isn't ready. You won't see it.
@alyosha24601 My heart isn't ready? What the fuck. Why don't you just say, I'm not delusional enough to fall for any of that bullshit. And you haven't shown me any proof of these hundreds of prophecies. And still, the creation story is bullshit and you haven't honestly responded to that yet.
@CntthnkO15 I take a lot of time every day to answer objections. Yours are not unique nor especially difficult. I have studied prophecy for 40 years and can indeed show you some amazing proofs. I can also explain creation - just read some of the hundreds of posts on my channel, I know my science. But when I read your comments, I can just tell you don't really want to know. I'm not being mean, I just feel like you're looking for another Christian to bash. You won't hear God till you really want to
@alyosha24601 40 FUCKING YEARS AND YOU STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF CONTRADICTION? What that tells me is you wasted 40 years of your life on magic and that I should stay away from anything along the lines of prophecy. Thanks, I didn't think you would help, but you did.
You're saying all this like you have been there... No one has obviously been there, all this is just fed to you to scare you into believing their delusional bullshit. Grow up and think for yourself. Question the unknowable.

I can tell you your romantic notion of Buddhist monks is inaccurate! All people are self-centered and potentially insidious in the right circumstances. The trick is to see God's perspective, not ours.
@Mirewood God has a very different perspective than we do. Our ideas of "good" and "bad" are based on comparison with each other, so in practice we all just compare ourselves to Hitler and conclude we are "good". God isn't like that.
