I'm 5'10 170 and ride a 5'10 RNF. The board is sick in small waves and I suprisingly feel very comfortable in head high to double overhead waves on it. It just flies. When its small I throw twin fins on it and when its big I throw a standard tri-fin and it works very well. Experiment with the fins.
works from 0.5 ft to 6fts but for headwaves and some shoulderwaves it depends how good surfer you are, you need a lot of technique..I ride on fishboard 5.9 20 2 1/4 epoxy its awesome an board
@waker1010 How good is your hynson quad riding?? Im in love with that quad... I lived in the Canary Islands and now at FL, so everybody is telling to me here the waves don't have power enough and its better the 5'11'' model for these waves :S
RNF is the most versatile board iv'e ever surfed Im moving to Indo in Jan and will be taking mine as it works in everything! If you get one you won't be dissapointed!
I have the Aviso 5'10" version of this board and it surfs great. With the twin finner set up with which it comes its way more skatey than a traditional thruster. If you change it into a traditional thruster set up it makes wider arcs but feels more solid.... and it does not ding easily.
I've still got a 5'10" fish Thruster from 1985/86 it was made in Forster NSW an Aussie Life Guard sold it to me when he went back to OZ after spending the summer here in the UK. It's lovely board and I still ride it and I'm nearly 50 now! I can't ride that long board shit! I almost gave it up this year thinking I wouldn't be able to do it on this board, but we got some waves and man it was like I was 28 again F*****g amazing I was so stoked!
and where are the wings in the footage? same as the monkfish video, they mysteriously disappear. nice waves, though, but i would rather see it go down the line on really small waves, that is, do what a shorboard can't. personally, i would be on a shortboard on waves like those.
would these boards be good for someone who is just starting to learn tricks? i been surfing for about 2 months on a 6'8" funboard and want something faster and more agile.
I've the 5'10" rnf, it surfs very good I recommend it if you have a experience!
