If I'm dad you better believe I'd be on my knee's saying each and every prayer I could recall. To type this I've paged down and can no longer see the video. I can however hear tires barking, and find myself suddenly lose concentration. I cannot even imagine the self control Dad has to muster while sonny boy is out there firewalling it.
I agree %100 these cars were meant to be driven. I think is more of a shame to lock one up in your garage and never let it see the open road again. I have a 1970 Mach one I drive everywhere
I drive a tank of fuel throu it every summer, but with people texting stupid drivers, it's hard to have fun when you have to look around to see who might hit ya. All the parts are special and locating them is a real pain. I still have a pair of heads I bought as spares because they are so rare
I had a red 69 Fastback when I was a teenager. But when I was 18 it get rear ended, while waiting to make a left turn, by some guy in a huge Lincoln sedan. It actual bent the whole body.
Bizarre... Why would someone teach or allow their kid how to drive a super-rare muscle car like that? $10 says that car is wrapped around a pole the first Saturday night the kid takes it out.
Safety First is our motto, like I said the younger one is a little wild, so he has to be given more driver training behind the wheel. His older bro.. no problem
@belize91 When I was that age my dad had a 66 Canso then a 67 Firebird. One uncle had a 70 Challenger R/T and another an AC Cobra... ah the good 'ol days...
a neat car to learn to drive properly in . . however you know he's only 16 & he may put it into a tree showing off to his friends . . so keep those keys locked up!
You are right it was over 3800 lbs with your mom and sister also in the car.
Nobody would ever be dumb enough to drag race a TRUE 67 GT500, maybe you?
I love the GT500's BUT if you honestly think a car that old/heavy would beat a C-4 Vette with a fiberglass body and mostly aluminum parts WITH MODS VS a "BONE-STOCK" Shelby GT 500 you are sadly mistaken.
I have seen C4 Vettes destroy numerous 60's/70's Muscle Cars and RICE BURNERS at Kirkersville Ohio at NATIONAL TRAIL
@HillaryHitler NO 69 Mach weighed anywhere near your stated weight, period, you're saying it weighed over 3800#, not so. get your facts straight and prove it on a scale lard ass! Even with the BOSS 429, the car weighed hundreds less than your stated weight ,and BTW, a BONE-STOCK '67 GT-500 with a 427 would simply CRUSH your c-4 vette with minor mods. They went 10.90's slicks/open headers S/S NHRA in '67 AND a 360 AMX would NEVER have the RPM capability to get down the track with 4.56 gears.
A '69 boss 429 is a good retirement plan, i saw one sell on barret-jackson for over 500K. I don't think i would give my son the same liberties you do lol. I guess it must be tough to have a car so beautiful (and valuable) that you can't even drive it. sweet ride indeed.
@HAIDARAVEN you must not have a child of yourself then... the best thing you could do as a father is to pass the passion down to your own... if seeing your own kid behind the wheel of a car like this doesn't put a smile on your face then you're a horrible father
@msbaugh440 if it was 1985 and the car was worth 5K I would say go for it,,,,,now worth 80K plus you would have to think about it ......a wrecked car is a wrecked car worth 5K no lose worth 80K big lose
@pegleg1992 Hey dude if you got one of thses 9s new and pulled the timing cover off and reset the crank (not sure) 4 dergrees up this 9 would would wake up and with some slicks in the back it would run with a new 11 SHELBY............. but the factory detuned these so much to be a threat on the street
Not sure what you mean with 9's and 11's as I'm no automobile expert, but I think I get your general jist.
You'd pretty much have to rebuild one of these from scratch with all top grade parts to even match the considerably naf handling of the new Mustangs. There is just no competition except in drags really, as they corner like a ferry.
@belize91 The Boss has Ford racing Nascar history not to mention Kar Kraft and Holman-Moody's involvement in building and developing these cars and engines. The new stuff on the market now is nice, but the Boss has a pedigree that puts it in a different class altogether.
@FederalReserveMan The new Mustangs/Shelbys are great cars. FWIW though, the modern version of the Boss 429 (Ford 460 block with John Kaase Boss heads) makes 700-900 hp normally aspirated depending on displacement.

This comment has received too many negative votesshow
if that is a real, all original boss 429, and that is the way you drive it; then you are an idiot. the part when you slammed on the brakes, really gave me chest pains
@5literimporteater OMG!!! The Boss 429 Mustang is a 70's era super-car! It was made to deliver adrenalin to drivers via brute force! It was built heavy duty to run the quarter mile & deliver high speeds & low ETs.
It's not made to be beaten or mistreated, but if it isn't museum quality, don't treat it as such! Right now, this car has purpose! Drive it like it was meant to be driven! If it can't do that, then it is useless junk. Restore its original purpose & use it as it was meant to be used!
Relative of mine has a 70', I believe around 15K miles on the 429 engine, replaced it with a 351 Windsor so he wouldn't put as much mileage on the 429 engine, if he were to take it for a spin which he hasn't in years.
I don't drive it much cause of the problem of getting parts for it. In fact I have not driven it at all this year. I may take it to work to burn out a tank of fuel I put in last fall
@belize91 there is this place i just saw on the show gearz that makes heads and even complete engines because they noticed that the parts were so rare. forgot what it was called though you could figure it out.
Wow look at that sound! I love it ! :) Thats one of the most beautiful restoration i have ever seen.Btw your son is so lucky(not to have a father who owns a mustang-to have sb like you as a father)
Sweet car!!! The Boss 429 motor looks so far ahead of its time.. i wish i had a dad when i was 16 to do fun stuff like this with. I bet your son had a blast! And he now has some bragging rights because i have never had the pleasure and probably never will of driving a 69 Boss 429 mustang... love it!
nice, that has always been my favorite color for the 69 boss 9. but nice job restoring it though, the scoop is supposed to be black, not white like the rest of the car. i hate it when people can't even paint the car the right color. i know it looks cooler with a white scoop, but if u want it to be right u should make it the right color.
With all due respect you need to get the facts straight. I have owned it since 1980 As the 2nd owner. I restored it to what it should be not what looked cool in regards to the paint. I added a little chrome to the engine conpartment and the next owner can paint it if he wants.
The 1969 model had the scoop the same color as the car. The 1970 model had the scoop painted black. I have owned both
Thanks for educating 1p90luvr with regard to the paint scheme. The '69 Shotgun has always been my dream car!
Had a '69 Black Jade Mach-1, 390, 4spd and bought it from the original owner complete with all paperwork. The clock still worked and the spare had never left the trunk! Like a dummy, I sold it for all of the wrong reasons. In a nutshell, never get rid of your BOSS!!!
Thanks, I keep thinking abour selling it cause I am afraid to drive it much. The cost to repair is high because of all the unique parts. Some dude chatting on his cell phone could ruin my day while I sit a a light
if i ever get a boss, i wouldn't restore it 100%. i'd drive it all the time, and i'd drive it hard. and i would make no apologies, because history isn't going to love that car half as much as i would.
im 23 and have a '66 with a 289 and baby the hell outta it. if / when i have kids im not even gonna let them touch that......let alone if i had your car lol
I think for the street the 428CJ is a better motor, the B429 was designed more for the big round tracks. In that format the 428 could not keep up. For under the hood appeal and investment value you can't beat a Boss 429
that is seriously unfair. u are the luckiest man on the planet and u have passed ur luck down to ur son. I will probably never get to even touch one of these beauties let alone drive one. still unfair BOSS 429 IS THE BEST CAR EVER!!!!!
My god how can you let your 16yrl treat that car like that. Does he even know the value of a Boss 429. That is my dream car and I would not treat it like that I can understand the burn out but donuts
69 BOSS 429: white w/black lettering or the reverse... HANDS DOWN sexiest car EVER. Love 'em so much, I'll happily trade my rough '65 coupe w/ an injected 5.0 and ONE night with my 22yo wife for a solid '69 fastback shell to build a clone (I couldn't have the real deal even if I could afford one, would feel too guilty 'bout customizing it). Show me yours I'll show you mine, just don't be too old or fat, or she won't go for it.
Your funny, I may sell it, it dosn't get driven too much anymore, I am afraid of breaking somthing. We are going to make a vid in the spring with it again and my Ford GT driving together, should look good. Sorry guy I have a good wife, only thing I could trade now is cars. I have a vid of the GT with my other vids under my name Belize91
you got this '69 AND a GT!? Luh-key BAHSTAHD! And, yeah, that being the case, I guess safe to say you DO have a good wife... unfortunately for me, even if ya do decide to sell, sure the fair price'll be a touch or two outside of my availible reach... and again, even if I COULD afford it, honestly not looking for a genuine BOSS, I'm too partial to "adding my personal touch" to my rides (i.e.-fuel injected 5.0 in the '65)... not generally too smart to "resto'mod" a pony that rare and valueable
if my dad told me to hop in that car and drive it, i would crap all over myself lol.....if he told to hop in a ford GT and drive it, i would go into a coma lol.
I know right? None of them even look at my Chevelle(its not like its unnoticeable it has a blown 632 with Glasspacks so you hear it)...its all about the Mustangs...I love Mustangs so dont get all pissy
He was learning to drive a stick, it was his first attempt, In fact in the beginning he started out in 3rd. I told him to stay in first while I filmed. going over 40 in a parking lot could be risky for a new driver
he said he was 16 once and loved to race his dads car. That was a 66 Mercury in the 70's. He is pretty cool about it as long as I know my limits. He wants me to drive his Ford GT but I am afraid it would get me in trouble, it' over 550 horse.
The fan shroud and air cleaner are stock. He chromed them and the support in front of the radator to personalize it. He figuers if somone wants to buy it they can sand blast it off and paint it
Trans noise, it is rebuilt , but sounds like it did when it was new, the rear end has a 3.91 so you get a lot of gear noise in 1st and second

My 1969 Mach 1 with me in it, is over 4100 lbs and I am 250lbs
I could take the money it takes to buy a NEW Shelby and buy a C4 Corvette with some minor mods that will blow away any mustang
I could buy an old AMX and set it up with 4:56 gears and little work on a good 360 motor would eat any new Shelby

Darkgod171990 2 years ago
I don't drive it much cause of the problem of getting parts for it. In fact I have not driven it at all this year. I may take it to work to burn out a tank of fuel I put in last fall
belize91 2 years ago
@belize91 there is this place i just saw on the show gearz that makes heads and even complete engines because they noticed that the parts were so rare. forgot what it was called though you could figure it out.

can you please come be my parent this weekend? haha i'm 16 and this is my dream car
stealthsniper96 2 years ago
That's funny. Ask your parents to buy you one for graduation, that is what I would do. They could do it instead of a party
belize91 2 years ago
Sweet car!!! The Boss 429 motor looks so far ahead of its time.. i wish i had a dad when i was 16 to do fun stuff like this with. I bet your son had a blast! And he now has some bragging rights because i have never had the pleasure and probably never will of driving a 69 Boss 429 mustang... love it!

Buddy you need to post more video's on your car. There are just not enough videos on you tube on Boss 429's. The ultimate mustang in my eyes.

nice, that has always been my favorite color for the 69 boss 9. but nice job restoring it though, the scoop is supposed to be black, not white like the rest of the car. i hate it when people can't even paint the car the right color. i know it looks cooler with a white scoop, but if u want it to be right u should make it the right color.
1p90luvr 2 years ago
With all due respect you need to get the facts straight. I have owned it since 1980 As the 2nd owner. I restored it to what it should be not what looked cool in regards to the paint. I added a little chrome to the engine conpartment and the next owner can paint it if he wants.
The 1969 model had the scoop the same color as the car. The 1970 model had the scoop painted black. I have owned both
belize91 2 years ago
Thanks for educating 1p90luvr with regard to the paint scheme. The '69 Shotgun has always been my dream car!
Had a '69 Black Jade Mach-1, 390, 4spd and bought it from the original owner complete with all paperwork. The clock still worked and the spare had never left the trunk! Like a dummy, I sold it for all of the wrong reasons. In a nutshell, never get rid of your BOSS!!!
ITSFHSP 2 years ago
Thanks, I keep thinking abour selling it cause I am afraid to drive it much. The cost to repair is high because of all the unique parts. Some dude chatting on his cell phone could ruin my day while I sit a a light
belize91 2 years ago
restoring a car like that makes it history's car.
if i ever get a boss, i wouldn't restore it 100%. i'd drive it all the time, and i'd drive it hard. and i would make no apologies, because history isn't going to love that car half as much as i would.
heck of a machine you got there.

im 23 and have a '66 with a 289 and baby the hell outta it. if / when i have kids im not even gonna let them touch that......let alone if i had your car lol

Whats the fun of having a nice car if you don't ever beat on it?
11hrona 2 years ago 2
I think for the street the 428CJ is a better motor, the B429 was designed more for the big round tracks. In that format the 428 could not keep up. For under the hood appeal and investment value you can't beat a Boss 429
belize91 2 years ago
thats true, y do u think that they always used the boss 9 in all the talledegas (the race cars, not the stock ones).
1p90luvr 2 years ago
Not sure, I never followed the oval racing, I heard that they were faster than most and Nascar made the motor illegal, so they were dropped
belize91 2 years ago
is the 428 cobra jets a faster engine??? i have been wondering this for a while
austinden611 2 years ago
u had a boss 429 when u were 17?!?!?!
that is seriously unfair. u are the luckiest man on the planet and u have passed ur luck down to ur son. I will probably never get to even touch one of these beauties let alone drive one. still unfair BOSS 429 IS THE BEST CAR EVER!!!!!

Thanks I know a few women race drives over the years. What you mean like they like there we built? Loose, noisy, and fast?
belize91 2 years ago
My god how can you let your 16yrl treat that car like that. Does he even know the value of a Boss 429. That is my dream car and I would not treat it like that I can understand the burn out but donuts
omar302stang 2 years ago
He drives it like I did when I was 17, I owned the car when I was 17 and it still runs great. today. He is not allowed to go over 5000 rpm
belize91 2 years ago
He does, and is afraid to drive it far which is good

69 BOSS 429: white w/black lettering or the reverse... HANDS DOWN sexiest car EVER. Love 'em so much, I'll happily trade my rough '65 coupe w/ an injected 5.0 and ONE night with my 22yo wife for a solid '69 fastback shell to build a clone (I couldn't have the real deal even if I could afford one, would feel too guilty 'bout customizing it). Show me yours I'll show you mine, just don't be too old or fat, or she won't go for it.
shynsly01 2 years ago
Your funny, I may sell it, it dosn't get driven too much anymore, I am afraid of breaking somthing. We are going to make a vid in the spring with it again and my Ford GT driving together, should look good. Sorry guy I have a good wife, only thing I could trade now is cars. I have a vid of the GT with my other vids under my name Belize91
belize91 2 years ago
you got this '69 AND a GT!? Luh-key BAHSTAHD! And, yeah, that being the case, I guess safe to say you DO have a good wife... unfortunately for me, even if ya do decide to sell, sure the fair price'll be a touch or two outside of my availible reach... and again, even if I COULD afford it, honestly not looking for a genuine BOSS, I'm too partial to "adding my personal touch" to my rides (i.e.-fuel injected 5.0 in the '65)... not generally too smart to "resto'mod" a pony that rare and valueable
shynsly01 2 years ago
There is an advantage to making it your self. Good Luck, Go Fast!

My mom want even teach me how to drive. :( They will Pay!
darthisaiah 3 years ago 3
i wish i could have learned stick on that car rather than my moms sxt neon. :/
suprbird 3 years ago
nice car but its funny how whoever was driving it can't drive a stick. they stayed in first the whole time of the video
videoman742 3 years ago
He was learning to drive a stick, it was his first attempt, In fact in the beginning he started out in 3rd. I told him to stay in first while I filmed. going over 40 in a parking lot could be risky for a new driver
belize91 3 years ago
Boss 429's only have sticks, he can't drive a stick, that was the point of letting him drive it
belize91 3 years ago
Wish I could talk my Dad into letting me romp on his Mustangs like that... how did you drug yours? Why the chrome air cleaner and fan shroud???
carconnoisseur 3 years ago
he said he was 16 once and loved to race his dads car.
