I think of Rom. 12:1-2 - being a living sacrifice. Sacrifices were consumed by fire. Psalm 17, the psalmist states "try me by fire, so that no inquity will be found in me." Job states in 23:10 - But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold. This song, I believe is asking and giving permission to God to overtake, to make us new, to shape and mold us in His image. How about Jeremiah 17, He's the potter, we're the clay. Nice voice, good band, but if this is a worship song are the words and format appropriate. Fire in the scriptures is judgment and the repetitive words are like mantras used in several other religions. Liking a song for the way it sounds is the way of the world and I love and play all kinds of music, but what we say in the way of worship to our Lord has got to be pleasing to Him, like incense.

The first is in indeed judgement however, the second refers to purification as in 'a refiner's fire' . Both references are common throughout scripture . This song is referring to the second of the two.
@23mrdarcy God has been revealing to me how much He wants to be like a fire in our lives in a way that consumes EVERY bit of our being; it is SO beautiful. in terms of scripture, at Pentecost, the Spirit came as "...tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them" Acts 2:3 Also, Matt. 3:11 references John the Baptist talking about how Jesus will "baptize [the people] with the Holy Spirit and with fire." Fire is what refines precious metals, which is what God wants to do with us.

Secondly the tongues of fire in Acts is a simile saying it is LIKE fire. Satan will be thrown into a lake of fire. We have to be very careful what we say to the Lord.

I don't find this group to be sketchy in any way, and if you watch their testimonies, it's evident that they are in pursuit of God's heart and are passionate about pointing others toward Christ. Sure, unbelievers have rejected the Spirit so God, being a God of justice, is not going to ignore that.

There is a time coming where many in the churches will fall away because they don’t know scripture and are lead astray with nice songs and false teaching.
@23mrdarcy I understand where you're coming from and I appreciate your concern for the church. If through your reading of the scriptures you see this song as dangerous, that is your conviction. Conviction is on a personal level though. For me this is a poetic reference as in SOS 8:6. I don't agree with you, in your statement that whenever God mentions fire it's about destruction. What about Heb. 12:29? It references Deut. 4:24 which in context is saying that God wants our whole devotion.
@tifftiffgurl3 In both Deuteronomy 4:24 and Hebrew 12:29 this is exactly what we are told to fear, the awesomeness and judgement of God. The reference in Song of Solomon is a poetic personal emotion not the Lords speaking. Whenever He speaks of fire we cannot make lightly of it. I have seen churches looking to certain preachers and high profile figures and then be led further and further away from the Truth.
I look at scripture as the Word (Jesus) John 1 & especially in song it must be right.

So if what you're saying about SOS is true, does that mean that 2 Tim 3:16 is no longer true? (You mentioned that it is not the Lord's speaking, with which I do not agree.) You are right, a lot of scripture references fire in terms of damnation, and that should be a concern of ours. If we are Christians, we have no reason to fear hellfire. 1 John 4:18

I was baptized in the Holy Ghost, Baptism in water, & umm the body of Christ? But I cant speak tonuges. That 1 day, in my worship, I will be baptized in the name of the Holy Ghost. Speaking the Holy Language is what I want to seek in my worship.

@tallliza empty tomb (no-one can explain where the body went!), 500 sightings afterwards, radical change in disciples' character, non-Christian historians of the time writing about his resurrection, no-one at time was expecting it (to disciples who were Jews the crucifixtion proved that Jesus was cursed by God, no thought of making up a resurrectoin story), His mother and brothers suddenly worshipping Him as God - they weren't always doing that lol, something changed there!

@tallliza Herein lies the paradox my friend. We have no solid proof; nothing you can hold , taste,feel, etc. That is why it is called faith. The bible says "now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen" . God asks us to believe in something we cannot see, touch, or feel before we can see touch and feel Him. But I feel Him see Him and touch Him and it's more than you could ever hope for. Ask God to show you what you can't see.

If you had a physical something (whatever it is) that proved God it would not have a lasting nature as nothing on this earth lasts. So to prove the spiritual with the physical is impossible. God is not interested in us intellectually ; He wants to know us and know our hearts. You must know God with your heart; not your mind. The intellect will then follow the heart. This song is by Melisa How, the 3rd singer in Jesus Culture; although she is not as advertised as the other 2 because she , like the similar guitarist, is a little bit overweight and not as "beautiful" in the worlds eyes; but her voice IS every bit as anointed and beautiful as the other 2. As a matter of fact, her remake of " Oh Lord, Your Beautiful" is now my favorite song; its beyond my description in how it moves me spiritually; All glory to Jesus as he uses her and the rest of the band!

Whenever God mentions fire it’s about judgement & destruction. “2 Peter 3:7.the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men” not the righteous. Just because the song rhymes and the sound is good doesn’t make it right. There is a time coming where many in the churches will fall away because they don’t know scripture and are lead astray with nice songs and false teaching.

@23mrdarcy I understand where you're coming from and I appreciate your concern for the church. If through your reading of the scriptures you see this song as dangerous, that is your conviction. Conviction is on a personal level though. For me this is a poetic reference as in SOS 8:6. I don't agree with you, in your statement that whenever God mentions fire it's about destruction. What about Heb. 12:29? It references Deut. 4:24 which in context is saying that God wants our whole devotion.

@tifftiffgurl3 In both Deuteronomy 4:24 and Hebrew 12:29 this is exactly what we are told to fear, the awesomeness and judgement of God. The reference in Song of Solomon is a poetic personal emotion not the Lords speaking. Whenever He speaks of fire we cannot make lightly of it. I have seen churches looking to certain preachers and high profile figures and then be led further and further away from the Truth.
I look at scripture as the Word (Jesus) John 1 & especially in song it must be right.

@23mrdarcy I agree! We are to fear God! However it's not the fear that we are to have consume our lives. It's God. So if what you're saying about SOS is true, does that mean that 2 Tim 3:16 is no longer true? (You mentioned that it is not the Lord's speaking, with which I do not agree.) You are right, a lot of scripture references fire in terms of damnation, and that should be a concern of ours. If we are Christians, we have no reason to fear hellfire. 1 John 4:18

@tallliza empty tomb (no-one can explain where the body went!), 500 sightings afterwards, radical change in disciples' character, non-Christian historians of the time writing about his resurrection, no-one at time was expecting it (to disciples who were Jews the crucifixtion proved that Jesus was cursed by God, no thought of making up a resurrectoin story), His mother and brothers suddenly worshipping Him as God - they weren't always doing that lol, something changed there!

I believe it with all my head, all my heart, all my soul, my whole being, but not just cos if scripture. I don't follow a religion, i follow someone who has spoken to me, who has loved me, whose presence i have felt as surely as anything. and this person, who is God, says that the Bible is true - i believe Him :-) do i sound like someone who has just been spoonfed tripe without investigating for myself? i know what it is to be an unbeliever, but since He saved me i can't get enough of Him!

@tallliza Herein lies the paradox my friend. We have no solid proof; nothing you can hold , taste,feel, etc. That is why it is called faith. The bible says "now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen" . God asks us to believe in something we cannot see, touch, or feel before we can see touch and feel Him. But I feel Him see Him and touch Him and it's more than you could ever hope for. Ask God to show you what you can't see.

If you had a physical something (whatever it is) that proved God it would not have a lasting nature as nothing on this earth lasts. So to prove the spiritual with the physical is impossible. God is not interested in us intellectually ; He wants to know us and know our hearts. You must know God with your heart; not your mind. The intellect will then follow the heart. If you believe-you will see.

This song is by Melisa How, the 3rd singer in Jesus Culture; although she is not as advertised as the other 2 because she , like the similar guitarist, is a little bit overweight and not as "beautiful" in the worlds eyes; but her voice IS every bit as anointed and beautiful as the other 2. As a matter of fact, her remake of " Oh Lord, Your Beautiful" is now my favorite song; its beyond my description in how it moves me spiritually; All glory to Jesus as he uses her and the rest of the band!
