My cockatoo loves cheese as well, that and a variety of things he shouldnt eat like he loves hot chips and cooked pasta, he only has it maybe once a week so it's not that bad but if I sit there eating dinner/lunch he will squawk and squawk until he gets some
Percy is actually one of the pickiest eaters. He only eats the special prepared food from the breeders which I have to ship a big 40 lb bag and keep in my freezer, a little yogurt and some cheese once in a while , and if he is feeling really crazy he might have a pasta noodle once in a blue moon, but he is as healthy as can be, the dustiest bird I know.
Actually that is not true. I have an excellent vet and he told me that all my birds should have things like cheese, meat etc. I have budgies; reg & english, M2,U2, sun conure, parrotlets, asst finches & a canary. Moderation is the key. Also, when birds humans too, are getting anti biotics they need yogurt with live culture to restore the pos bacteria level in the gut for healthy digestion. Anti-B's kill all bacteria-good & bad. Much has changed lots lately re care & feeding of birds mysweetybird
Easy with the cheese, it's bad for them. Although my severe will always go for the cheese out of anything I eat, so I can't say he doesn't get any, but its rare I let him.
I used to think it was bad for them too, but I had a cockatiel once who had lost her feathers to a cat, and she kept picking out her new feathers as soon as they grew in. She didn't stop until a few years later, after I found out quite by accident, that she loved cheese. Moderation in all things, but... not all bad. So, I allow my cockatoo her cheese too.

birds are not sussposed to have dairy products! too much can kill them because of bacteria in cheese and the fat content.
