You can use either nickel (II) acetate or nickel(II) sulphate

The kit that I use has a nickle anode, are you sure that yours is stainless steel?, not wishing to be picky, just did not want people to make mistakes, all the best

Folks - avoid using stainless steel for your anodes. Stainless steel is an alloy which contains chromium.

Using stainless as an anode can cause the generation of extremely toxic hexavalent chromium gas.

There is no such thing as hexavalent chromium GAS! If you find a method to volitilise chromium +6 ion @ 1 atmosphere <300C then you have a Nobel Prize!

Stainless steel anodes do leech hexavalent chromium. While not a gas, I challenge you to refute its toxicity.

@stupidesther - ebay - type in Nickle powder or plating - then get some white distilled vineger. Then mix a little of the powder with about 5 time vineger...
