@TenyoS I think the same thing happened to me. I never saw myself touching this show with a 10 foot pole, but I had to watch it to see what all the fuss was about. I gave Twilight time to steal my mind, and here we are. Of course, it helps that the creator worked on several quality shows and she could bring that experience and her sense of humor to the project.

Lauren Faust just filed off the serial numbers and gave them new paint jobs. Not to mention more interesting personalities. Surprise and Posey wound up swapping races to mix things up so they wouldn't have two energetic pegasi and two low-key earth ponies.
