the Black Panther has always been a force in the Marvel universe. He defeated the 1st super hero family as his debut. I really like how BET is airing the show and that the production team is at least half if not more made of black people. The accents are horrible. Putting fake African accents on top of black american slang/lingo at times does not work. They need more authentic African voices(aside from the Black Panther's) for the characters.

Of the list you have, and those of others, how many of these characters currently have their own comic, headline a major motion picture, or television series; after 4 seasons of John Stewart in the animated JL series, it's Hal Jordan who rated a full length DVD release.

Technically Static Shock was the first cartoon to feature a black super hero in a lead role (good show btw) but Black Panther definitely has more recognition. I look forward to seeing this show. :)
The animation is the same stop motion that they use for the X men cartoon they show on Hulu. Fuck a cartoon T'Challa needs his own movie but I'll take what I can get......for now. This will go hard as long as they don't try to water it down for Saturday morning.
@TurkeyCannon A cartoon is nothing without a good story and from the eps I've seen, it looks like a good one. Some X-men made a little cameo and there is a scene where Juggernaut takes out Nightcrawler in a way that made me laugh out loud. :D
The BP vs Cap scene was a flashback depicting a time in which not even "the best" American soldiers were able to infiltrate Wakanda's borders. Cap, at that time, was arrogant and inexperienced and BP put him in his place.

I think that is not fair placing the blame on him regarding BET and it's issues. You have to remember that isn't anymore different than other network that displays what a number of people want to view. I hope the Animation is as good as or better than transformers. But don't forget Power Man or Cloak and Dagger, even tho it a interacial love story, Cloak was Awesome. I hated the Blade sequels, Morbius king of the vampires was never seen but he was blade's arch enemy in the comics.

Think about how long those shows stay on.
Static Shock and Green Latern had the longest run that kids could watch. Not reffering to Spawn or Blade which is more adult. Catwoman was horrible Halle Berry should have not been Catwoman. Who wrote that script oh for crying out loud.

@3R3MITE Dude, do you know how long ago Steel came out? And in the comics Nick Fury is usualy portrayed as white. And it's not like Storm and War machine have ever had there own show or movie. And niether has Falcon. Plus, not too many parents would allow there little kids to watch Spawn, and how could kids look up to a "super hero" like that anyway? Static Shock has a week fan base.

Except breef momments in which John Stewart and Storm fulfilled the role of leaders ONLY The Shiled agents Ultimate Nick Fury and Gabe Jones were the true leaders of their pack.
This is the 1st time a black char is the lead, a king and his own boss all in 1, and 1st time its black against black in equal rights fighting to coexist instead of race card or rapper toughies.

@3R3MITE I find it amazing that white folks can claim all sorts of achievements for themselves, deserved and undeserved, but let one person of color acknowledge that this would be the 1st cartoon series devoted to an African title character - not as a supporting character - and you want to get up in arms. This series would not be one with white supporting characters to draw the white audience since its set in Africa. It would have a serious approach to the storytelling, not like Static Shock.

Of the list you have, and those of others, how many of these characters currently have their own comic, headline a major motion picture, or television series; after 4 seasons of John Stewart in the animated JL series, it's Hal Jordan who rated a full length DVD release.

You know all groups like to see a reprensentation of themselves in heroic terms. Asians were very proud of Bruce Lee, and Whites were very proud of Larry Bird and said so. No one accussed them of playing the race card, and no one should.

ACTUALLY to anyone watching this, if you know anything about any GOOD comic book heroes, you'll know that Black Panther wasn't the first animated black superhero. (It was created first though.)
BUT, Spawn the animated series? Come on! The main character Al Simmons (Spawn) was black, and voiced by fucking Keith David!

Yep. You're right, Rawman. I can't stand BET. There was a time (long, long ago) where I thought BET might be a positive thing for African Americans. After being on air for more than 20 years--it's a joke of network. Why couldn't one of the very few black superheroes come on the WB? Or the Cartoon Network? What's the problem Marvel? Technically Static Shock was the first cartoon to feature a black super hero in a lead role (good show btw) but Black Panther definitely has more recognition. I look forward to seeing this show. :)

The animation is the same stop motion that they use for the X men cartoon they show on Hulu. Fuck a cartoon T'Challa needs his own movie but I'll take what I can get......for now. This will go hard as long as they don't try to water it down for Saturday morning.

@TurkeyCannon A cartoon is nothing without a good story and from the eps I've seen, it looks like a good one. Some X-men made a little cameo and there is a scene where Juggernaut takes out Nightcrawler in a way that made me laugh out loud. :D
The BP vs Cap scene was a flashback depicting a time in which not even "the best" American soldiers were able to infiltrate Wakanda's borders. Cap, at that time, was arrogant and inexperienced and BP put him in his place.

I think that is not fair placing the blame on him regarding BET and it's issues. You have to remember that isn't anymore different than other network that displays what a number of people want to view. I'll admit they were trying too hard to be the black MTV which has the exact same crap that he created.
I just find it ironic people especially people of color complaining about "BET is making blacks look bad" but then don't say a word about MTV

Blacks are more critical and when we have the opportunity, the companies should change and grow just as any other business....MTV was "anti-Black" in the begininng but realized the potential when Michael Jackson boosted their ratings...
There are many black business that have grown...BET just stays with the one thing they think that draws viewers....

BET is trying to reform its image after almost 30 years of rump shaking glorification of all things bad in the black community and Black Panther is a strong series that sure to help and it may even bring a new demographic for the network.
With a larger viewership BET will be able to become the station it should be and not MTVs colored brown.

I hope the Animation is as good as or better than transformers. But don't forget Power Man or Cloak and Dagger, even tho it a interacial love story, Cloak was Awesome. I hated the Blade sequels, Morbius king of the vampires was never seen but he was blade's arch enemy in the comics.

is it just me but are the people at BET suggesting from this trailer that just because hes a black superhero it seems that they're mainly aiming him at a black audiance...hell im white and black panther is my fav superhero along with blade, it seems to me that they dont realise how good black panther is as a superhero and that he has much more of a wider appeal then they think. theyre just playing into the stereoptype here. and thats a shame.
