A PowerConcrete® home will protect people’s life in tornado situations!
How much would you be willing to pay if you could protect your home, yourself and your loved ones against any of these catastrophic events? What would an entire city and its people be willing to give if their city would be still standing and lives would have been saved? How much is it worth to you to save lives by building better & stronger communities for our children…? …it’s priceless!
Hey Bob what is that thar thing on the plains? Urrrrh.....dunno Billy? Looks kinda mean and it is coming this way !! Meanwhile the native Americans are shaking their heads heading for an underground shelter wondering why "keemosabbi" is not getting the picture !! The natives are underground eating their soup as the F-4 rages on overhead and in the distance they could hear......holy shit....what the fuck.....runnnnnnn......hide....runnnn...aaaarrrrghhhhh....woosh
@mulletsensepalm how is that fake??????????? huh can you prove it within 10 seconds..............??????? video is evidence............ look look look seeing is believing
Since the May 3, 1999 tornado in Oklahoma had wings right at 318 mph. It is theoretically possible to go beyond that range. Would that make it an EF6...or would they just extend of EF5 range. Who knows?
Not to get into an argument about the strength of tornados, but it's like the hurricane categories, where it really doesn't matter how strong it is, after the cat 5 it just stays a cat 5, even if the winds are 300+ MPH, which have never happened. Tornados can reach 300+, but even if they were to reach 500+, it would still be an EFF 5.
The new scale (EF) has wind speed factored into it, to give tornadoes more accurate ratings. Damage is priority, but recorded wind-speeds area also factored in. Otherwise, wedge tornadoes that hit nothing are rated EF0-EF2. That has happened with the old F-scale.
The new scale estimates wind speed based on damage, but the exact wind speeds for a particular severity of damage are unknown. Actual wind measurements are rare. Radar cannot measure surface wind speed and you could probably count the number of successful intercepts on your fingers. And yes, any tornado that stays in open fields and hit nothing are rated EF0.
what i want to do is throw a camera into a tornado and get some sort of live video uplink so i can see what happens inside it, provided it isnt smashed by debri first though lol.
Well problem of that is you would only spinning images as the speed the winds spin so you would need something stationary to withstand that might get lucky with F1
@twisterfield651 wind speed alone would destroy the lense. its been done though, but not on any strong tornados. its been done on F2's with armored cameras that weigh 150 pounds and are shaped like little flying saucers that stick to ghe ground. most of them ended up getting tossed around and broken but one managed to survive. wish i had the link its spiffy.
More and more I find Rees Stuff posted everywhere. He is Discovery Channels Favorite black sheep chaser as far as I can see. I remember comin across his stuff back in 06 or so. Brilliant stuff to watch.
True some house that aren't well connected to their foundations can get lifted. But otherwise the documentaries have failed to get their facts straight yet again.
You're probably thinking of 74, which saw 123 tornadoes in one day across 13 states and the province of Ontario. There were several f5's and f4's that day.
It was 148 tornadoes that day. But none were in PA. There was another outbreak in 1985. PA was the worst hit state. There were several F4s that day and 1 F5. The only one in PA history.
@Ironman374 From what I've heard a mother and her son were in their basement and miraculously survived without any major injuries. The craziest thing is that the storm lifted their entire furnace from the basement and it was never seen again. It however didn't lift them up with it. Their house may have been gone and thats awful, but they have their lives and could rebuild.
I read a description of the remains of someone who had been picked up by a tornado funnel - the reporting officer said the body was covered with many deep, ugly lacerations - obviously all the flying debris, moving at a much higher speed in the wind than the heavier human was -- think of a rat hosed by a sandblaster - yet another bad way to die...

There are no EF6's. The strongest is an EF5.

Yeah, basically it's up to whoever deals with the EF scale. In the meantime, we can all agree that EF5 is BAD enough.
JasondeLEpee 2 years ago
No, The scale is based on damage, not windspeed, F5/EF5 damage leaves behind nothing more to destroy.

There is nothing on earth that can register that strength of wind at same time good luck putting a device in its path to register it......

"An F4 is powerful enough to rip a hou clean off it's foundation"
WRONG!
An F4 can level a house but not take it off its foundation. A tornado that does that would be rated F5.
dragonridley 2 years ago
normally that's true, but if the house was badly built... who knows :D
Lepa2793 2 years ago

dragonridley 2 years ago
yeah.
Lepa2793 2 years ago
Correct. An F5 is the one that can rip it of the foundation, like you said, F4s can level a house.
I know, because My town here in Ohio had an F4.
I saw the damage. I don't remember much because I was young, But I remember seeing the houses, the damage. Bad storm that was...
vader9596 2 years ago
Was the F4 in 1985? because I know there was a pretty bad outbreak then. People won't stop talking about the tornado that went through Albion, PA.
