I live near the Geysers. If you expand your search to include Cobb and Anderson Springs, you may see more quakes. Thanks for putting this on vid, because I have been posting about this for a while on The Mists of Avalon. PEACE Troy
@DSummerMan - Hey Troy, no problem. I started looking at this area because of the constant clusters I'd been seeing for months there, and finally started looking deeper in google earth.
The more info I've been digging up about the water injection for production, the more it seemed to be the cause for quakes. They pumped 35 billion gallons into the geysers! Crazy.
Do you feel the quakes if you're close? They all seem quite shallow, so I assume small ones you'd still feel.
@DebTLw - thanks for the info. I figured there must have been some news video out there on this as there's been so many EQ's in that genereal area. Possibly because it's not in as populated an area that it doesn't get the coverage for the Geysers project.
I'll look into the Cerro Prieto field you mentioned. Thanks for passing along that info.
Excellent info as always, thank you! Definitely concerned about this process. There was coverage in the news here in SD about the link between the easter 2010 7.2 and the plant that you point out at the end if your vid. There's an Article in geoscience world: Major earthquakes in Mexicali Valley, Mexico, and fluid extraction at Cerro Prieto Geothermal Field. E. Glowacka and F. A. Nava.
What is the environmental impact of earthquakes in the wilderness?
