It is not by Wayne Houchin. It was published in a 1967 book called the blood writing test and dates back to the US civil war before that. Houchin just remarketed it to earn a quick buck from unsuspecting new teenage magicians who dont know it is an old effect. basically you just scratch your arm beforehand and the blood fills the scratches when you hold the wrist and people actually pay money to learn this! I could have told you for free.

There is absolutely no way you can tell the initials that someone is thinking of unless they are written down, or you can read minds. There is no way he could have known what the spectator was thinking of unless they planned it and faked it.
