Stone Temple Tower's fairies give you the Great Fairy Sword, but only if you've already collected and received the prizes from the other fairies. Those prizes being the upgraded spin slash(Woodfall Temple), 2x magic meter(Snowhead Temple) and 2x hearts(Great Bay Temple). Link currently has his default magic gauge and we can tell by his hearts that they're not surrounded by the barrier that represents the heart upgrade.
