@RightBeatRadio Did it myself, it was really easy (if you know anything about cars anyway), at least on this car. It does depend on the car though. Most modern cars have a hub unit, meaning the bearings are in one self contained unit that can be replaced. Some others though have to replace the bearing races themselves, which can be a pain in the ass.

@RightBeatRadio Worst part is it might be pretty well rusted/stuck in there. Took me an hour of prying and crowbaring to get it out.

@rudolphna54 nice... well thanks for the heads up. when i did the tie rod ends they were a b!tch to get off. Had to let some pb blaster soak in for a while before the jam nut on the right side would even budge... was a fun time :P thanks buddy

@rudolphna54 Hi is this a toyota cavalier If so Im having the same problem i got a new cv joint and it turned out it wasnt cv joint it was only clicking under load thanks very much I hope this is the problem.

@rudolphna54 please respond immediately I have loud thumping noise under my car and it feels as if it is jumping up and down. I the noise stops as I turn right or left could it be the same problem. I could not hear the noise your car was making sorry. The mechanic also told me that my flex pipe was broken, Today I also heard grinding while i was driving and I know my breaks are ok so help please

@sarahata22 That could be several things. Could be a bad wheel bearing, but it could also be damaged tire, bad CV joints, or a million other things. Take your car to a reputable mechanic and have them test drive it. That sounds like something that could be extremely serious, and dangerous.

Does the noise go away when verring/turning right? I heard something about that on NPR's Car Talk and took my car in. The mechanic said that was the problem (also needed new brakes).

I have just got a 2005 ford focus and it sounds like a aeroplane when you go along with no change to noise when gears are changed so its not the engine car is vibrating also can feel it under my feet also the wheel is out of allignment about 30 degrees to the right makes the car go straight and it doesn't pull to the side when you let go of the wheel. Noise quietens down when returning wheel straight (but obviously this will make car go to the left) so im  taking it into mechanics this week!!!

you know the last time I heard that noise the car had run over some one and was dragging the body making that sound, so r u sure it is the bearings?? it could be your nobby tires, or all the roads around your town are cobble stone roads, the cheapest thing to do is get out and look under your car if you see some one there then youre ok and dont have to deal with the dreadful expense of replacing wheel bearings....of course I am joking ..and the sound I hear seems to me to be the front bearings.

i have a 2001 ford focus zx3 and i have a squeel that sounds like its comeing from the front write wheel when i turn left. i dont know if it is a bearing. if some one knows what im talking about lent me know

@captonsped A squeal is probably the brakes. Probably need new front brake pads. Replace them with Wagner Thermoquiet semi-metallic pads.

I have bad front wheel earings right now, and this is the exact same noise my car makes. The guy is charging me a decent amount (less than $100) for labor to fix it if I buy the part. It was very comforting to (First) identify that this really is the problem and I am not being scammed--and (Secondly) to know that I can actually fix this myself (If I didn't have my man to do it for me) via the videos that show you how-to.Now I know what direction I need to go in with this! i have haynes repair manual and readed about itt, and i have a bearing puller.

il take my time on itt iff itt must take a whole day to do the jobb!

yes expensive yes cost 4000 NOK krone and that is 661 US Dollars.

the new (inner) bearing only cost 65 US dollars.

but annyway i have a new bearing for the car and i am going to replace itt maby friday ore saterday depending on the weather.

A bit scary to drive with bad bearing.....

but when i turn it to the right then there is a big sound (hum) coming upp i supect bearing is gone becouse off wight on the bearing.

i am driving a old peugeot 306 xrdt (17 years old) turbo diesel.

first i thought it was the tires but it wasnt.

Now i know that is the bearing.

Can this cause a humming sound..I noticed this small buzzing which turned into a much louder engine sound...I can describe it as my engine running harder type of sound. The sound increases when moving at higher speeds, and decreases when moving slower. I notice that the sound only happens when the car is moving.

my cavi is really fucked up idk what the fuck it is i know its a wheel baring but i had my brother take it down the road and he came back and we poped the hood cause i could hear it in side the house making a weird noise and i found a hot red glowing ash of something sitting on the front of the moter where the muffler goes and it sounds like the driver side but i know dam well its the passenger side

something else to watch out for is sometimes when your driving it feels like say for example you think the Drivers side is vibrating but really its the pass side. so be careful with that too.

sounds like what my Bravada is doing.... only after I spent $700 to have the CV axles replaced!!!! Cars SUCK!

Yea, heard it for sure. My 25 year old son's 06 Civic did the same thing. But of course now days rear bearings are called bearing hubs and cost about 1 bill to replace, but he only had 58,000 on it and Honda actually told me it was part of the powertrain warranty and they did it for free. Great dealership, they could of made 100.00 off me easy. Thanks for the vid.
