He's certainly incredibly gifted on a technical point of view, but i would like to make a personal remark:
i think there is too much technique and too few feeling and interpretation. Flamenco is not only about playing difficult and complex passages, but also expression and research of the right tymbrical and intensity variations, which i don't see here.
I know many people will disagree, but i repeat that it's just my subjective point of view.
@GigiChitarra: I know Myrddin as he is my youngest brother and I can only say that he is a verry sensitive and emotional person. His music is his language - not the language normally used in flamenco: he only uses flamenco as a medium to express his feelings and emotions instead of using his emotions and feelings to play flamenco. It's a big difference but that's probably what makes him so original. Maybe it would be better not to consider it to be flamenco and just see it as music. ;-)
Mooie introductie. Als het compás begint wordt het mij echter te druk en ademt het te weinig. Teveel nootjes naar mijn smaak. Wel erg origineel en een fantastische techniek.
Hola Myrddin! Great to hear this again after Sanlucar, 3? years ago and 10? years ago or more... Hope you are well, we missed you in Sanlucar! All the best from Peter (Holland)
what a piece !!! he definetly took the buleria compass and fused it with classical tune and you got this wondeful music, what makes the song great is his precision . noticed he uses alot of arpegios & alzapua. but whatever means to create such music.
hello myrddin, i will get in touch with you in march, right now i am extremely busy with many projects! we will be making 2 dvds with stochelo and a gypsy violin dvd in 2 weeks! all this while i'm trying to finish a cd and play some gigs .... but i definitely want to do something with you!
so beautiful. I hope to meet you guys next time I go to Ghent. I enjoy many of the waso CDs with Fapy Lafertin... and i saw the family play with him at samois in 2006!
he's doing rasgueados in their. Just because there's no picado, its not flamenco??? I think you are very confused. What he is playing is VERY MUCH flamenco. AND very orignal at that.
Yeah... it's one of the pieces we always heard when we were kids... I think our father used to play it... I knew it had a origin somwhere but I thought it sounded more Barrios-ish. It's like a childhood memory that found his way in his music... But I can clearly hear some Bach too and some Barrios and old Manolo Sanlucar influences...
One thing I know... it's not a rip because he never studied Villa-Lobos...
Did you consider having this great composition published? I am also a left handed flamenco guitarist and would love to play your music. Do you have any other pieces that you have composed?
I have to say something. I think this is NOT a Buleria from Gerardo Nunez. The same occurs with the other videos: Paco, Vicente, Manolo e Canizares. I saw this before and it seems Waso changed its title. I think he do this to people find his videos faster and easily. Of course, if in the title appears "Paco De Lucia" or "Vicente Amigo" everything becomes easier, right?
I will NOT criticize him. He has a great technique! A great sound! He deserves to be known! Flamenco influece is obvious.
And yes Myrddin studied a lot and very intense. Classical guitar too but mainly flamenco (followed a lot of masterclasses by the likes of Gerardo Nunez, Manolo Sanlucar, Isidro Munoz...). If you want to learn more about him - visit his myspace-page:
But I think none os his musics are from some of the Flamenco's forms. So, from this viewpoint, he is quite original!!!
Waso, I'd like to see some Buleria, Solea, Alegria, Fandango, etc... I think you can play Flamenco. It seems you studied Flamenco before compose this musics.
First of all - it's Myrddin playing, not me... Myrddin is my brother.
I know the titles where a bit wrong (ment to be buleria FOR Gerardo - same for the others
(It was a bit cheap too - I admit).
The form -or compass, if you like- ARE flamenco forms - it is a buleria... a strange one maybe but the compas is a buleria compas (same goes for the other songs... just count it) and it's realy rare that Myrddin does something other than in a flamencoform...
this is truly amazing.. i'm definitely going to do some research on him

Hello,
I heard from my brother Waso, that maybe you want to invite me.
I'm certainly interested in your dvd-project, and it would be very nice to go to your country :)
Indeed, your gessing of the tuning of the song on youtube was right. But I'm always a half tone below, because then a guitare sounds much better.
greetings, Myrddin

This piece sounds very much like what Villa-Lobos might have written, minus the rasgueados.....at 1:50 in the piece especially.

Check out Villa-Lobos's Etude #1 with what he is playing from 1:50 to 3:15 to see what I mean
