  • Cannon has a proprietary hot shoe, you can get an adapter.

  • u should download audacity, and its free...get rid of that hiss sound in the camera and mic.

  • B&H Photo....online. You can most likely buy it online at any of the music outlets...Musicians Friend or Sweetwater...

  • Where did you buy the mic? I can't find it on amazon :s

  • What you hear there is the air purifyer, the humidifier and whatever other contraption we had running during the winter time...you can even hear the bird clock go off in the kitchen 25 ft away off to one side.

  • is that your camera buzzing in the AT897 test? or is it your AC or summin?

  • Did you buy the windscreen separately?

  • theres a buzz noise in the back

  • Camera tape noise sucks

  • Which would be the best mic for the hv30?

  • It depends on what you will be using it for and if you have an XLR adaptor on your cam. I have a Beachtek DXA-2 mounted to my HV30 which allows you to use microphones with a XLR connector. If you don't have one of these you cannot use mics with XLR. If you are doing an interview or want a mono signal with good side rejection then the AT897 is great but if you want a stereo field then you have other options...

  • The Rode that is....sawed it off and it slides right in there.

  • Yes...I did discover that and use it regularly now! I actually took a hack saw to it! Thanks!!

  • If you file down the tabs at the back of the Rode hotshoe mount so that they are shorter but not completely gone it will fit onto the HV30s hotshoe quite nicely.

  • way better sound than the onboard mic!
