  • Завораживающе! Картинки откуда-то из мечты...

  • well I love Peggy Lee's version, but I've posted it on facebook because this girl sings it as it was written. Depression is a bastard, and this song sums up depression for me anyway, no offence meant to anybody,

  • the VIDEITS

  • Hey Nick smack is the gift that keeps on giving eh ?

  • I love PJ, but let's face it.... not a good version, anyway only Peggy can sing this song... Nobody else can do it justice.

  • omg, gimme a qualude and that room and i could do a better job, probably every girl on this threat could, no doubt.. it is whiney and that fake arty style, , just not cool.

  • Good Grief..... way to wreck a song...

  • @billfromwi And you left a racist comment on another youtube clip. How idiotic.

  • loved this video hadn't seen it in 15 years thank you for having it here!

  • and when I didn't I said to myself, "is that all there is to love?"

  • Wow she's young here! Looks like a teenager which surprised me a bit as she's one of those people that doesn't seem to age. Brilliant artist who continuousley gets better!

  • Wow she's young here! Looks like a teenager which surprised me a bit as she's one of those people that doesn't seem to age. Brilliant artist who continuousley gets better!

  • wow... i'm so glad i've stumbled onto this gem, can't believe I haven't seen this before. But I must say it reaffirms how artistic PJ really is.

  • nobody commites suicide on that song ! didn't you hear the song at all you twat ?

  • @rubettes75 hahaha well said

  • PJ....Our soul sister..

  • ……. All hail, the Goddess Polly Jean .……

  • surely you mean creepily SEXY anorexic !!!!!!!!!

  • Love this song! And that is all there is to it! lol }:-)>SINNER!<(-:[

  • and when that final moment comes, and i step through the parly gates, i know what i'll be thinking, ......is that all there is?

  • Love how theatrical this is. Our producer introduced us to this in the recording studio when looking for inspiration. Love it.

  • fuck this dour shit. Check out the version by Cristina from 1980, Blows this away

  • a Buddhist song if ever there was one

  • Great cover! If you're a junkie contemplating offing yourself.

  • she's so creepily anorexic

  • @montecarlostar

And still earns daily what you do a year...

  • @Datura2475 then she should use it to get some food!

  • PJ is one of us who walk among you from all walks of life, as George said.

  • HAHAHA! The most nihilistic lovely tune I've ever heard.... >)

  • Check out the Cristina Monet version too. It's better (at least funnier).

  • Peggy Lee's version is vastly inferior to this version. I am prepared for all the flack I will receive for saying that but I really think that. PJ can go somewhere that makes believe this song much more than Peggy Lee.

  • This is the best pre-suicide song ever.

  • urrrgh. I actually like Polly, but I'm afraid she has butchered this song.

  • What made the Peggy Lee record so great was the string arrangement throughout the tune. Thanks to Randy Newman for arranging that one.

  • from the orpheum in boston to the brixton academy, one of my favorite performers and a first class broad as well.

  • I actually like this version best.

  • "I'm not ready for that final disappointment" lol. This is a great video. She is such an amazing person to look at. Here she has the wisened face of a woman on the body of a pre-adolescent girl.

  • I never thought anyone could get close to Peggy Lee. This girl has talent.

The arrangement of the organ/electric keyboard is masterly!

  • It is splendid! Thanks CapitanJet for sharing it. And yes, it is a different interpretation of the same song by Peggy Lee circa 1966. Peggy Lee's was a big hit as I clearly recall my father's love of it (yep, I'm that old now to remember, I was like 6 yrs old). PJ Harvey's rendition is an artistic achievement and isn't meant to be a remake of Peggy Lee's or to have popular appeal to the masses but to those who know what Peggy Lee was about back then and grasp PJ Harvey's genre, it is solid.

  • Edith Pilaf

  • fantastisch!

  • Listening to this is like listening to one of those people who take forever to finish a thought and you get aggravated and just want to finish her sentence for her just to relieve the torture. It's like the lost theme song from Plan 9 From Outer Space sung by Nico. And not in a good way.

  • @KatManDude

I have always loved P J Harvey, so I am truly sorry to have to agree. This rendition is awful. Awful and unnecessary. :(

  • Wasn't it Dorey Previn who first did this (wrote it?)? Someone like that is lurking in the back of my mind.

  • i know she's British but at times she sounds completely American and at times she has the posh-ist accent that can possibly exist.

  • My favorite thing about POlly is the fact that she has BO

  • Still can't touch Peggy Lee's version

  • @handinside

it's different, not much more depressing though

just different... I can't actually put my finger on how - it simply seems to lack something (like the song says)

  • love it! so magic...

  • So magic... love to Polly, is great!!

  • wow so deep :D!! x

  • Listening to this song, it's easy to imagine Harvey and Nick Cave nodding off together.

  • @tobiasaurusrex if you still haven't done it check out Pj's The darker days of me and him, the version added by downbythewater73. Zhen the camera zooms in on her eyes i wonder wasn't it after all her in cave's black hair and green eyes... or rather who could it be if not her:)

  • she is soooo thinnn almost like anorexic. But i like her that way. That's part of her personality lol

  • incredible

  • People are comparing this to Peggy Lee?! Give me a break. Two completely different interpretations. Both genius. And to call PJ "another amateur freak" is ignorant. Clearly this person has no idea of the brilliance that is PJ Harvey. Live and learn.

  • I just heard this in after hours, great movie

  • @SWTinFLA Exactly. And you're doing no good for the legacy of Peggy Lee when you kick down PJ. What modern artist/musician/performer/rock icon has ever paid any homage to Peggy Lee. I personally love when someone pulls a cover slipping into obscurity and brings it back. She didn't choose to cover Patti Smith or RollingSTones, she covered Peggy Lee! Amazing. If you don't get it then I have to ask...is that all there is??

  • just greatness in the video and song....

  • Just wow

  • I like the original better, I like PJ but the original by Peggy Lee is just classic, and classic is what came first.

  • Polly Jean Harvey is possibly the sexiest woman alive.

  • Great styling. Not enough. PJ rocks and makes me happy but once and again, she can't channel everyone.

  • Peggy's better.

  • Triple AAAwesome..she nailed Peggy's intent..pure Genius

  • I love it!

  • I wonder how many times cops found this song on scratchy repeat as they walk into a suicide scene ...

  • then the guy did'nt listen to the last refrain

  • last refrain always felt like they were trying to turn the train around when it was already going down the wrong track ...

  • @maddymud LOL--brilliiant observation!

  • @maddymud Enough to haunt their dreams?

    ...Nah. Police don't have feelings.

  • @maddymud lol shut the fuck up

  • there are some nice touches to this video, though I prefer Peggy Lee's version. The red dress, the dark hair, the empty ballroom evoke the pointless of trying to enjoy life. It's an excellent example of emptiness. And her voice captures the sadness of her experience.

  • that is the story of my life

  • Genius Genius Genius

  • I love this song, I love Polly. one of the greatest artist ever

  • for some reason I find something dark in this song

  • it's not sort of bright song, is it? ;)

  • lol ... "for some reason"?

in the end she sings about suicide, how dark do you want to get it? :-P

  • keepin it real.

  • I love this version, it is beautiful and haunting

  • thank you for the Peggy Lee reminder, you know your music. I would love to listen

to Polly Jean sing 'Fever' someday.

  • To byrontheone :

    "Me too! :-)"

  • What I love about this woman is that she isn't the least bit glamourous. She's just plain good. Period.

  • Love this song soo much!

  • oh no!

  • i red the whole short story that this song was inspired by

  • what story is that?

  • Girl Interrupted

  • this was a Peggy Lee song.

  • awesome!!!!

  • id like to do some heroin to this song

  • indeed.... ☺

  • I'm down and i'm loving this song.

  • i dont get pj. the wind is fucking unbelievable tho

  • When you do get PJ, you will become a rabid fan like me.

  • thought provoking

  • watch and weep...

    or giggle

  • sorry

  • No comment...simply PJ

  • great expression of how this world is nothing but a sh..t hole. no matter what you do no matter where you go or no matter what you succeed you'll come to realize that there is nothing more to life..

  • it hurts so much

  • It's a bit like Mullholand Drive, isn't it?

PJ is so creeply lovely here

  • waaaaaay too slow. and impersonal

  • Thank you so much!

  • Thanks for posting this. I couldn't find out who sang this in Basquiat (film), now I know. A haunting song.

  • Oh hell, you are my new hero for posting this. Thanks so much.

  • That's all there is...let's keep dancing..cause that's all there is....I love you, your song and video...

  • To be honest, yes, that is, in fact, all there is.

  • why have i never seen this before?

  • i am seeing her and John Parrish in Amsterdam in May! Owyeah!

    Love this song and video

  • I so much love to look at her!!!! She's so special......

  • ....you just don'ts gets it.....

  • this woman is something else. she's especially welcoming.

  • This song is so funny.

  • I want her!!!!!

  • P.J.Harvey covers this absolute classic once sang by the great, great, Peggy Lee... Now the question is: WHY?

  • because she's amazing, dumbass.

  • if the song was covered in the same manner, with the same musical style, vocal style, etc., as the original, then yea.. that would be truly pointless and worthy of a "why?".

    but this isn't.

  • I CAME!!!

  • haha

  • sfglkjafgkl (L)))))))))

  • I wish I was beautiful like her!

  • I'm sure you are.

  • (*_*)

  • Very nice song, I love her.

  • Like a David Lynch movie! Love it!

  • Utterly mesmerizing! What a unique video! So strange. Pollyladolly is perfectly right; it reminds me a lot of David Lynch's movies, especially Twin Peaks for the red and blue lights...

The lyrics are so deep... It suits Pj very well.

  • she reminds me of a friend a lot!!

she look a lot like her.

  • this is a bit lynch- esque, saturated and engrossing. reds and blues..........

  • Strangely disturbing and yet hilarious all the same.

  • Beautiful.

  • Excellent lyrics; best performance since Peggy Lee 50 years ago.
