Are all the gymnasts in this compilation diagnosed with eating disorders? If not it isn't really fair to include clips of someone who might actually be healthy. Not every gymnast has an ED. And before everyone starts screaming, I went to ballet school so I have seen my fair share of girls, and boys, with EDs and I can add myself to that list. EDs are terrible and with the obsession with perfection in media/films/fashion today I am surprised how people still eat rubbish and diet at same time.
@tedsler sorry if my video was unclear only the gymnasts mentioned by name have come out with information their eating disorders. I understand not all gymnasts have ED's it was not the intention of my video to say that.
I remember reading about Cathy Rigby's struggle with bulimia. It almost killed her 2 times, when she was rushed to the hospital for severe chest pains after a couple of severe purges. Her story is very remarkable.
@unevercalled Well theres not a lot of doubt that she lost a lot of weight within that time. But she hasn't ever come out and announced to the public the cause of that (not that she has to because it's a private matter). Other speculations beside eating disorder: Her coaches pressured her to lose weight, or she once claimed when she was injured she wasn't as hungry because she wasn't training as hard.
@unevercalled Right which is also a possibility however she lost it doesn't make it healthy wheather it was natural or not (which is why I included it) seeing as she was never at a weight where it would have been necessary to drop pounds
@iAngelaKara it could be she wasn't taking the right nutrients and that's why her tibia was so weak? I just couldn't see her coaches doing anything detrimental to her because they always seem so nice not like the Rybeckis or Karolyis
@iAngelaKara Also, working out a lot (too many hours) can suppress your appetite very greatly. I remember when I ran track in high school. We'd run and workout so much and so long that I was just too tired and/or too worked up to eat dinner. I had lost a lot of weight by my senior year on the track team (I started my sophomore year at 125lbs. By senior year I was around 110). And I wasn't dieting or anything. Just lots of running and didn't feel like eating at every meal during the day.
Thank God I never had an eating disorder as a serious gymnast..I was able to eat anything and not gain weight...But I do have to say that gymnastics actually stunted my growth...I hit a second puberty at age 27 when I finally grew into an actual womans body, and out of a little skinny muscular power house!! I finally grew some boobies!!!

@iAngelaKara I never noticed she lost a lot of weight unnaturally because I thought it was just a matter of the amount of training she was doing
