  • so sad the sound quality SUCKS ASS

I saw kirk do these tunes in th 60's in LA jazz clubs.

You may now all ask me how fucking great it was.

  • Wow this is incredible.

  • @petopalaj Kirk was one of Jimi Hendrix's idols as Jimi's father was a huge fan. Gave Jimi the idea to imitate sounds.

  • @clarkewi interesting .

  • Thanks for digitalizing this!

  • that's the great vernon martin on bass! no one else played like him, he was amazing...and a real nice person.

  • @joshuasound woked with Vern for 7 years (piano) in the Creative Spirits in Toledo Ohio.

Never a dull moment musically and he is really missed.

  • @joshuasound : joshua Vernon was like something else! great sense of humor always too!

  • this is blues...

  • What a superb artist!

  • One man band

  • Saw Roland Kirk live in London blow out a club with Sal Nistico

  • That's my esteemed mentor on bass--the late great Vernon Martin. I met him in Ventura CA in 1984 and became one of his students, along with Tracy Waninomae. We learned his original songs and made a few recordings and played some great concerts and gave some interesting lectures at UCSB where I based my research on Vern's mastery of the jazz idiom and how that related to his life experience.

  • @dsparham2004 Cool story bro

  • no mames se rifan ese cabron

  • that looks like the great vernon martin on bass!!! he was amazing

  • Yes. He took Coltrane's place. He took sound to another level

    Humbled to listen to this.

  • Great video, but sad that the camera men decided to use the cut of Roland adjusting his mic stand instead of getting a rare early shot of Andrew Hill soloing!

  • how much did he play at one time, he probably has neck problems now dose instruments r heavy

  • roland Kirk at his finest. Technique that no on else can copy. He found his own. Love the flute playing - spitting, singing, humming, growling and making a sound he loves. Just enjoy.

  • Roland Kirk, with

    Andrew Hill, piano

    Vernon Martin, bass

    Clifford Jarvis, drums

  • Why does he clap for himself at the end?

  • @af4k why not fool

  • @af4k

jazz artistist like to here clapping and like to clap

  • genio onnivoro, splendido Ambulante

  • Vernon Magic Finger Martin on bass, miss you uncle vernon...

  • nothing new- al jolson, elvis, most of american & british rock and roll stars owe their success to the influence of afro americans on music!

  • Roland Kirk is Thijs Van Leer and Ian Anderson's flute Father.

    Genius!
