It's funny somtmes how art portrays life. Ancient works suggest angels running around heaven with no underwear ... fighting demons who are mythical. Fact is that the warfare goes on inside of us all the time. An indian chief was asked about his consternation. "I have a mean dog and a good dog at war inside of me all days". His second in command asked "who wins this battle at the end of the day?" The chief's answer was short and to the point ... "the one that I feed".
I love this opera. I'm glad you've done this. It's an exciting, passionate piece of lyrical drama. This, along with Andrea Chenier remains as two of my very favourite works I hope to see in the flesh one day.
My most sincere thanks for this magnificent poroduction. You just forgot to mention the very important name of the director : Robert Carsen. Thank youa again !

Interesting how Boito anticipated Strauss' "Zarathustra" with those trumpet calls! Bravi Tutti!
