S-"submersible"
G- "guided missles"
N-"nuclear powered"
not to be confused with SSBN (B stands for ballistic missles, aka-nukes. Guided missles are not nukes but trident missles) hope that helps.

Yes, it is different. Sort of like the difference between a pick-up game at your local playground and Game 7 of the NBA Finals. You see, any schmuck can pick up a basketball and play. But only a lucky few make it to the NBA. Think about it next time you're doing cannonballs off of your grandpa's old dinghy in the pond behind your house.
