  • I did this solo 8th grade year! Sure was a shock when I played "Caprice en Forme de Valse" the next year... very fun!

  • @OpsTeam14 I'm calling BS on that one. There's no way you could've improved from playing this Handel sonata to the Bonneau Caprice in one year, especially as a ninth grader. If you did, you must've practiced for at least eight hours a day, everyday, and even then you would only be able to play it technically well. To really play that piece, you need the musical maturity that accompanies years and years of playing, something that a even a virtuoso 12-13 would have no way of grasping.

  • @TheJeffDing Sorry I meant the next next year. 2 years after. I played "Diversion" in between.

  • The four movement from handel in No. 3 is what im auditioning for college and this is my first song.

  • I'm playing this song.....and I love it. It's very pretty and technical. It takes a lot of air and embouchure to play. I like the way you have played it. It was very fun to listen to. I like the dynamics and am going to listen to this recording for my "tutor". Now, I have the song I can listen to so that I can hear how the song and tempo should be played.

  • Age has no correlation to musical talent. All of those commenting thinking your extra good because you're playing this song earlier in age than this man are wrong. Both a child of 10 and a man of 30 can pick up an instrument and be at the same stage- neither is automatically better. It takes mental work to be great. If you HAVE to compare musicality listen, rather than looking at titles like age. Maybe compare the amount of years the instrument has been played.

  • your good

  • im 12 and im playin this for a solo and ensemble competition next week

  • It's a musical performance, especially considering the player was probably a first year student of about 18 years old.

The one big complaint I have is the poor intonation. The instrument doesn't play in tune...it's up to the performer to identify the notes that are out of tune, and CORRECT them. Don't choose to ignore the problem and just play them out of tune!

The sometimes0brittle tone and the difficulty with the low notes are due to the performer's choice of a square-chambered mouthpiece.

  • I love the tone

  • Very good tone, but you do need to watch out on the break parts and the phrasing needs a little work. Oh and be careful rushing note 16th notes in the first movement.

  • very good. I'm playing this peise for NYSSMA and im 10 years old!!!!

  • @thephindog WTF. im 16 and im doing this. :| prodigy, much?

  • it sounds a little slow but i flayed it faster than this, good job

  • good tone quality. however the general piece is moving a little bit to slow.

  • Don't say something like that. This person obviously worked hard to produce the type of tone that is presented in these parts of Handels Sonata. Even though there were some obvious mistakes in the performance this person made a quiet good performance.

  • shut up

  • you did very good

you messed up on the Allegro part a little

    but you did VERY good!

  • Lol ok?

  • I didn't mean it like that... There's bound to be someone better than him and there also someone better than me out there. It's just how it is

  • Go fuck yourself erikster if you think you are better then you need some hearing aids now go cry to your mom or daddy unless you have two moms you faggot why dont you post a video to prove it and stop putting this nice musician down. oh by the way, your sister gives great head!

  • Lol you need to chill guy below.. Seriously.

  • @Erikster140 I understand the want to show how good you are but no one likes when you make others look like crap to do so.

  • and you're a cocky ass.

  • Lol I'm better than u and I'm still just in eighth lol nice tho

  • dude chiil out and quite being a douche, whenever im better than someone i dont just flat out be a jerk and tell them, you need to learn consideration, this is a hard piece for the most part

  • Awesome job!! I'm on junior high and I am working on this piece for an upcoming solo and ensemble competition!! I'm glad u posted this.. It helps alot to listen to this.

  • No way! This was played on my b-day

  • Using this piece for a scholarship audition. hope it comes out alright.

  • THANKS! im accompanying a girl who is playing this and i'm so happy i actually found someone else playing it!

  • pretty good but on the last movement i would suggest adding some of own crescendos and decrescendos it make the music more interesting and more enjoyable and dynamic for the listener to keep their attention

  • air leakage under tempo

  • for starters marian paulson is a chick.

the shirt is a tad big.

wtf cares if its a girl or a guy

even though the music says everything should be tongued sometimes musically it is better played differently as long as it makes sense to do so...its called musicality...

as for speed...maybe at the time of the performance that was as fast as the person could go and make it sound decent...anyone think of that....

  • actually he's playing most of the staccatos correctly . Sorry but ur solo ensemble 007 grog3 was playing it wrong. (=

you are way slow on ur second movement, second movement is a lot more imppressive played fast.

good dynamics although last movement is kind of boring when you play it (no offense)

  • I liked it (: bravo

I'm working on this solo atm

  • Is that a boy or girl????

  • no its a flat chested girl...

I'm not really sure myself because i dont know if "Marian Paulson" is a girl name its probably a guy since guys have the hair out long now adays

  • this beatiful. why did it get a low rating?

  • he's actualy going at the right speed...

    Adagio->mov. 1

    Allegro->mov. 2

    Largo->mov. 3

    Allegro->mov. 4

one comment tho, put some vibrato into it

  • Dude go faster and dont trip up as much on the second movement

  • What letter or section does he start on?

  • dude i have to play this only 7 grade

exept so much faster at around 112

  • Thanks for posting.

  • hey guys i need some help. i have to play the second movement of this at quarter note = 112 for all-state. for a reference, he is playing the 2nd movement at about 90. help!!!

  • I was having trouble with the sections that are just straight 16ths, but I have the movement at about 120 now for all south jersey. Make sure you keep your air pressure up, and keep your tounge light. It also helps to accent the notes that aren't pedel tones, so the notes on 1 and 2 and, as opposed to the notes on e and a. One last tip, you can keep the B flats, A's, and C sharps from cracking by dropping your jaw a tad right before playing them.

  • hey man thank you sooo much i will try that the next time i get a chance, bc the straight 16ths are the only thing that i cant get up to 112. u dont no how much it means to me that you gave me these tips. Thank you

  • no problem "man" (I'm female, haha). One more thing to keep in mind that I forgot to mention. The Rascher arrangement doesn't say sim. over the repeated sections of 16ths notes, but they should all be slur two tongue two just like the first set. That might help a lot...sorry if you already knew that. I didn't at first, and it was basically impossible.

  • oh sry lol. r u serious? bc thts what was gettin me. i couldnt do the tonguing all of them, but i no that i could do the slur 2 tongue 2. thanks alot

  • I played the Rascher version for solo onsemble, and and everything from 2 measures after B on is supposed to be tongued in the first movement...

  • Also, measure 23 , the 16th notes that aren't slured should be staccato...

  • the sheet music doesn't have any staccatos, on 16, or anywwhere else

  • o jese

  • i think personally think that the beginning was way too slow. and the trill in the first movment shuldnt be there and im not talkin at end. alittle sloppy in the seconnd movement. the 3/2 part a bit fast and stay wit the piano in the begginging. the last movement was pretty good. and nice sound

  • there are a lot of mistakes in there. alot of wrong notes and rythms. the only good thing was your tone

  • that was supposed to say slow, not clow, Im sorry

  • beginning was way too clow. Work on a better tone and better technique. I played this when I was a freshmen in highschool and loved the piece. What type of horn and mouthpiece do you use?

  • i know this is a solo and all, but you need to have just a bit more of a steady tempo. it's ok to push and pull with it here and there once in a while, but sometimes it dragged and rushed just a little bit too much. you also need to work on the response on your low notes. dynamic contrast was a little lacking. try not to cut off your eighth notes when they come right after a sixteenth note phrase. everything pretty much comes down to phrasing.

  • You need a lot more work on the section before A in the second movement. There were places throughout the piece with wrong rhythms, and either rushing or dragging. There was almost no phrasing on anything that had sixteenth notes in all the movements. Articulation was plain wrong in many areas. You do have nice tone, though.

  • first movemetn sounded great but its rele slow lol. im playing the same piece but im takin it a little bit faster. but good sound too. im rele tenor player.

  • Has a decent tone, work on the vibrato. But, you weren't playing lots of rythms correctly, your accompianist had to pause many times to figure out where you were. You need more expression, not just articulation. But overall, probably a c+ to a b-.

  • He might be using a different arrangement

  • No, obviously not. First off, it says Sonata No.3... G.F.Handel/arr. Sigurd Rascher, then I could that the melodies are the same. I know this because I have played it. All of the notes are the same (except for the mistakes). I can tell this from experience in playing the alto saxaphone.

  • oh yeah, you're right.

  • i think the fourth movement needed quite a bit of work. you have a nice tone, but dynamic contrast was lacking. only a few minor intonation errors. i would have liked a lot bigger sound in the end of the first movement. i played this song for my high school solo/ensemble competition, and i went to state. i know how tough it can be when there are no rests in the piece! its annoying! anyway, it was a very confident performance, and you did a good job.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! You did a great job and now I now how it's supposed to sound when I start learning this piece on alto as well. That always makes it easier! Great job again!

  • i also am working on that peice for saxophone and this was a great help :P

    thnx!!!

  • The staccato in the second movement is unnoticeable. It is no different than your other notes. You have a great tone and vibrato however. Also, the wrong notes and such are a sign of lack of practice. Try working on your interpretation with emphasis on the articulations and dyamics of the piece and you'll be great!

  • sweet dude i play the sax to and im workin on that piece but NICE PLAYING!!!!

  • Very nice job. I'm playing the second movement on my own right now, and your performance is good to go by.

  • I have to play this for private lessons, it is actually pretty easy.

  • nicely done! does anybody knows where i can get the sheets for such a song?

  • Really good. Doing this soon for a try out

  • Veery good I'm doing this as a solo too. It's pretty hard!

  • Wow, that's pretty good! I'm playing this solo this year for solo and ensemble, it's REALLY HARD!!!! AHHHH!!!! FREAKING OUT!!!!!!
