  • will you use this clutch with the other wheel and a belt on your kart?

  • yes you can heare it is a gokart engine

  • what would happen if you only reved one carb? please respond

  • @pivotboy63 then it's only going to power 1 cylinder. The other will be running on idle, so it will be a big drag on the one that is being given throttle..... why?

  • @1skiinIan no reason, just wondering

  • @1skiinIan don't only rev one carb. it damages the engine by causing said cylinder to run on a lean fuel/air mix, and as it is a 2 stroke, this will damage and overheat cylinder components... too lean will melt down a piston if it is bad enough.

  • have u got a frame to put it on yet

  • im doing the same thing but with a 3 cylinder 600cc polaris engine, that should rip wheelies down the street.

  • bet it will blow up a lot too.... get a big rad

  • @1skiinIan whats up with the wireing on this does it need to be hooked up?? i got one last night i am putting on a lawn mower and the wires were all cut what will i have to do to get it to run or will it just run with out them hooked up?

  • awsum bro look at my 1 5 stars

  • i want that engine i want one soo bad for my go kart where can i find a cheap broken down one.

  • go to your local yamaha and ask for any discarded skidoo engines or something i am buying a 500 yamaha 1980 skidoo engine from yamaha for 200 bucks

  • does it run though i want one that runs for that much but i don't have the money right now thanks though..

  • thats a good idea i i did it with a 1979 scorpion 440 engine on a 2 seater gokart/ dunebuggy and its so fun, but i got some chromolly i need to reinforce the frame with.

  • i want to eventually build a kart when i get the time and room to work on it. i have all the parts though.

its gonna be either a kawasaki 440 fan (60hp) or a liquid cooled 700 reed induction twin. (120hp) i havent decided yet though im pretty sure im gonna use the 700 motor. a-arm suspension up front with disk brakes and swingarm rear suspension with disk brakes. 5 point racing harness and full roll cage.

  • I wanna put my Kawasaki 340cc drifter in a Go-kart but every year you have to rebuild the engine

  • @w1ldyovvnz no u dont

  • yes i do...it always runs on 1 cylinder and don't say no you don't without proof im not going to record it because that required getting it out of the snow getting into the garage letting it warm down draining the gas...

  • I want to find a jet ski engine for my GO KART! I say that becausein Georgia it would bemore likely to find one of those, not a snowmobile engine! We rarely get enough snow to even have a snow ball fight, let alone ride a snowmobile!

  • I got a 440 engine for the go kart we are building.... We got it rebuilt and it looks and runs REALLY good!

  • Its always a good thing to open them old engines up a bit, break some carbon loose. Old AC we have puffed black chunks at idle, opened her up for a bit and now its nice and clean.

  • hello! i have a buggy similar as you but i have a problem it makes too much noise it as a ski doo engine too a 340cc bombardier year 1976 help me please! it as the original muffler on it

  • does it have a silencer, and if it does than repack it

  • Did this come of a sled or something?

  • you need to get out more

  • I take that as a yes. I do kart racing. So it's weird seeing projects like this for me.

  • @1skiinIan lmao good one

  • how much is an enginelike this and where can u get it

  • dude thats cool last time i did that it red lined but my dad was like woa that thing rips

  • damn dude that thing is only a little bigger than my briggs 4 horse! hahaha

  • cool dude. I like the way it sounds

  • I got a 600 engine for my go kart, currently buidling it, it should be quite quick!

  • how do u make 1

  • make what?

  • how much do you want for it?

  • 40,000

    naw just kidding. Already sold

  • I have one of these that I got from Ebay- it's going to replace the Sachs SA2-290 currently on my kart now. (Lowrider v2.0). They're a similar size, but the Sachs was a single carb. I wonder how much difference this will make?....

  • you will notice the difference if you sinc the carbs and have them tuned right

  • i love how they make such big engines so compact

  • looks like its gonna fly when you get it done. and i love the sound of a ol polaris two stroke. i just wish my dad would let me do/work on a project like that becouse our neighboors have two sleds in there barn just rotting away they said i could just have and there both polaris's but i dont know if they run, but the motors are still there.

  • yeah. 30+ years later and they still have that destinctive exaust note

  • to this? "I see. I know certain Craftsman lawn tractors could come with an 18 HP single cylinder 2 stroke engine. (I think Kohler) "

    my bad.

i thought you meant the polaris came off a tractor.

  • never heard of that. and this ingine is out of a early-mid 70's Polaris snowmobile

  • Comment removed

  • my apologies asshole.

i live in texas. so polaris = quad.

    and you said lawn tractor..

  • came off a quad retard..

  • 2 stroke?

  • well, yeah

  • I ended up selling the motor for 350. I got it for 50 so I couldn't really refuse a 300 dollar profit haha :P

  • Don't forget ear protection.

  • turn down your sound then

  • how much did you get it for?

  • 50 bucks canadian why?

  • If I was going to run a 340 on an on-road go cart what would the best way to keep it cool? Thanks

  • well, is it fan cooled? if not, don't even bother. even better would be to find a liquid cooled one and mount the radiator above your head behind your seat.

scrole down and read some of the comments about heat.

  • That sounds nice!

Was it 2 stroke or 4 stroke?

  • 2 stroke. a 4 stroke would never smoke like that, unless it had a seriouse problem...

  • OK thx. I figured it was because of it's sound and the shape of the exaust pipe, but I have never heard of 2 strokes that big!

  • 300cc is nothing. the biggest 2 stroke snowmobile I have seen and heard of, is 900cc. yamaha makes 1000cc (1L) but they start going 4 stroke after that

  • I see. I know certain Craftsman lawn tractors could come with an 18 HP single cylinder 2 stroke engine. (I think Kohler)

  • Bombardier used to make 1000cc twin 2 strokes for the mach z but no longer make then but the biggest one ive heard of is 1300cc in the redline revolt

  • yeah. bobi stopped making the 1000. it was a bad engine

  • not really.

  • i love how you can take the spark off one cylinder and it still sounds fine...

    really reliable.

  • you were saying it ws meant to be run in cold temps but do you think you could run one without problems in 80-95 degree weather?

  • oh ya, for sure. just don't make it work too hard, like floor it for 2 minutes

  • what do you mean? it's a skidoo engine. it's designed to run in wither temps

  • i have a 350 on my gocart i bought the thing with a running engine (runs real nice) for $75 the gocart has a full cage on it too i think i got a good deal

  • i had that same engine in my polaris 340 tx

i just gave that engine away

  • not the same. this is a 295 not a 340

  • i have that same engine but itis a 340cc do you know where i can find some parts?

  • check your local polaris dealer. mine told me where to buy parts

  • how mutch for it??

  • already sold it for 200 bucks, sorry.

  • how many power had this type of engine??

  • i don't know. should be around 16-18

  • my friend put a 300cc kawasaki motor on his go kart and its sick. nice vid, that motor would make one fast go kart

  • Sweet She Should Move That Car Pretty Good.

  • ya thanks. well, it was going to be... the go kart project is cancelled :( the drive train was going to be the original cvt clutches and chain and sprocket. This engine is now for sale. I had absolutely everything figured out on the to-be go kart too. just don't have the time in college

  • That'll make a killer motor on a go kart- most snowmobile motors are pretty small- ive had a few of em- heck my 79 Arctic cat eltigre 500cc motor is about that size. That'll also be a killer drivetrain setup.

  • what parts did you replace?

  • cracked air case, spark plugs, fuel filter, and I added a fuel pump. I've got another engine block like this for free, but it is blown and there is really bad cylinder and piston damage. not even worth rebuilding. Now I have to get my lawn tractor working...efficiently

  • 1972 lol pretty old but runs good for it's age. as you can see, I cleaned it and replaced some parts...

  • nice lol hard to belive that thing is 300cc just by seeing it but it sounds great!

  • yeah, thanks

  • yes when i said hard to belive its 300cc looks and sounds like more! what year is it?
