Why do American dentists use full narcose for a simpel tooth removement? We just get a little injection in our mouth...your mouth gets numb and painless...tooth gets removed and ur completely sober..just with numb lips.. halve of the videos i've seen (okay they are probably the worst case) but they cant even just bite the gauze (if thats how its spelled)

Seems awefully messy method but yea I had my aunt go here to the dentist and she was totally suprised how easy things went :p

@AnthraxSK Having you wisdom teeth removed is a totally different procedure than having any other tooth removed. When you get your wisdom teeth removed, they dont just pull them out, they have to cut your gums open and then rip them out, so it is much more painful than a regular extraction.

Even the last one, which was quite tricky - halfway underneath a molar, and only a very small part visible - came out just fine, thanks to a very skilled dentist. Where I come from, only the really difficult cases go to surgery - most get local anesthesia.

They had to break my teeth in the gums before pulling them out. People don't need more than getting numbed... geeze...

@chriscousino22 I got my wisdom tooth removed twice (separately on each side), this was in switzerland, didn't get get drugged to do it, simple injection thats all. Conclusion is: you don't need it, although i understand it might be easier than to make a precise injection..

But it felt like she was gonna rip my jaw of and i felt a litle vacum when it came out. and i know alot of people who have operated them out without narcoses. But man does it look like fun

@AnthraxSK Well, if it makes you feel any better, I was completely aware during my operation. I didn't feel any pain, but I did feel the pressure and hear everything they used and did. I'm jealous of my friend who actually did get high off her rocker, but she never remembered even getting out of the wheelchair and back in her car afterward. I guess having to hear them cracking my teeth apart and remember it clearly is just something I can brag about.

@whyouh8in no, for example. this is the IV which knocks you out for the surgery. you can have laughing gas, or regular anesthesia (like i did). so you're awake during the entire operation but just numb. little interesting when you see the doctor really giving it to you, ripping teeth out, and blood spilling. my entire operation took less than 20 min. yeah, 20 minutes for 4 teeth.

Thats funny. He has a good momma. I was awake when they cut out my wisdom teeth. I felt everything. It was aweful. It took at least two hours of them pulling, crushing, twisting, cutting, digging and drilling to get my teeth out. It HURT.! Aftermath of it is even worse. Headaches, cant eat, no sleep, extreme throbbing and pain. I also bleed for another 5hrs after I got home. If your getting this done, I recomend them putting you under and taking the pain killers whether your hurting or not.
