He has mixed feelings, but isn't Cricket originally english upper class brought to the islands... And he actually is emphatic about it all a bit... I love this as a pop song but its general position seems racist. Some white guy disappointed by his jamaican experience being not quite as friendly as he hopes and demanding 'some respect', and then telling people how much he loves the things *he* decides are authentically jamaican ... then being all ok because he can consume some drugs and/or some women of colour, and that makes everything ok again. I mean. this is a brilliantly written song. It's just full of white male privilege.
