This came out in 1963 and is considered the first true gore film, Though I argue the Hammer Films of the late 50s to kick off the blood red craze. Though this is the first film in which gore was the central element of a horror film. 10/10

Budget has nothing to do with acting talent. There are generally plenty of talented stage actors doing plays with no money. HG Lewis is just a hacky guy who made shitty movies for money, and admits it. I don't think he was too concerned with quality in any area of his movies.

Concerning Budget and Talent:

In a way, I agree... I mean, casting the nudie models as victims, was obviously a way to save a few bucks... but, like you said, it was a hack work.

On the other hand, you are right in that, these actors are awefully directed, and at least some better editing might have helped hide the lack of talent..

Still, I agree the mas was a hack, but then again, the brainstorm behind the whole "let's sell gore" strategy is admirable; the organization,however, was none

Almost all movies made in the 1960's and 1970's have terrible acting.

But that is partially due to the severe budget cuts the movie industry faced during this time.

Movies like Jaws and Star Wars brought higher profits to the industry, resulting in better quality movie-making and screenwriting.

Same with Night of the Living Dead. I saw it the other day and I can't understand why people love it so much.

Actualy, I think that the PLOT of this flick is rather clever and imaginative in a lurid and absurd kind of way,.. an Egyptian religious nut in modern day Miami Florida who worships a blood thirsty ancient godess CUM profesional caterer procuring body parts for for a canibal banquet involving unwiting guests at one of his occupational affairs !

yeah, the movie it's self is good, at least, this part is. The acting is EXTREMELY BAD. I love the gore though, love seeing limbs getting hacked off. Shame it didn't actually show him cutting them off though.
