Sure, any dog can be trained to be whatever the owner wants it to be. But pittbulls are one of the dogs with the biggest amygdala (the part of the brain responsible for aggression and defense mechanisms) compared to their size in the world. Thats why they have a reputation as being an animal with aggressive outburst. At least that is what they told us in our neuropsychology-class.
I feel honestly sorry for those whom think pits are a breed that is born to kill, EVERY animal has the ability to kill.. Lets sit here and think for a second..The human race.. There are so many people that can be sick and extremely disturbing, but does that mean we should die out or be done with? No it d doesn't.There are very few decent people in the world, that should not be considered bad just because of the bad ones, just like pits, there is amazingly sweet ones out there.God put them here.
Very moving video...I have a Pit that I rescued and he is as loving as can be. I am a Police Officer and I see how cruel people are to there dogs especially the Pitbulls.

These dogs have fighting and killing instincts, although rare they can snap because they are a very instinctual reliant animal, and when they do snap, they will cause a lot of damage as they have been bred for fighting, they will not stop until they die its just how they are. @whatigot2say started raising pit bulls with my father at 7, admittedly a self taught back yard breeder in baltimore. We and our whole clan here love these dogs and are looking to get into raising ambassador dogs and helping to purify some of the bloodlines drifting around here. They are one of the largest positive influences of my life and have taught me patience and understanding. Not a flunk move on my fathers part

And to your comment about the equality, yes I do believe that no matter how big or small a dog is, if it has bitten someone or is aggressive, it needs to be put down. My dogs, are NEVER without a collar & leash, unless in their kennel which is padlocked&cemented so they can not get out or be let out, & if my nieces are around, so am I. RESPONSIBILITY.

@qsbird I have looked into their breed, they were bred specifically for bear baiting, bull baiting, and fighting. The "pit" in pitbull is in reference to fighting in the pit. Regardless of how you train a dog they have inherit breed specific traits they exhibit, collies have a natural instinct to herd, even if they've never been trained to do so in their life. It is HUMAN'S fault for creating a breed for violent and immoral reasons and they should cease breeding them for domestic ownership.

an old english bulldog is a companion dog and most of the terriers were used to hunt foxes and rabits at the time
@ilia2010100 The roots of all dogs were wolves but breeding has changed those features and temperaments dramatically. Even within the terrier family you have the toy russki terrier which is miniscule 3 to 6 pounds bred for killing rats. Pitbulls were bred for fighting, fighting is no longer socially acceptable so the breed should be culled. It's sad but meat heads like you have flocked to the breed and have ruined it for all the decent responsible owners out there.

@botchalism Yes, I think it would be beneficial for animal shelters & breeders alike to do background checks or require people to have veterinary & other references & home checks before adopting a dog out. @botchalism do you know what disproportionately means in this case? it means that across the differences implied by size and health etc, there is no significant difference to be found. Of course a chihuahua will have a weaker bite because its muscles are smaller. however taking into account the difference in size, a pit bull's bite is not significantly stronger than a chihuahua's bite would be were it the size of a pit bull or vice versa.
@seere3rd Temperament comes into play, pit bulls were bred to possess great tenacity. They'll bite down and refuse to let go unlike most other breeds of dogs. Just like collies naturally herd other animals, it's an inherent trait. Pitbulls were bred for bear baiting, bull baiting and fighting. Their temperament reflects those roles. While obedience training might curb some of their tenacity, it only does so much, and most owners don't bother to spend the extra money and time to do so.
@seere3rd They bred the animal to have huge and powerful muscles in the chest/jaw/neck region. It has been made to have an extremely powerful bite, people have had to kill these dogs to get them off, they will no let go because its what they have been made for. They will have a much stronger bite than that of a chihuahua if it was the same size because that breed does not possess the same structural traits as a pit bull.

As I posted on another link, I have had many pits. The only aggression is when I grab up one of my kids and turn into the tickle monster...they squeal, my 70lb white pit comes runnin, ears back, hair up, growling. Stays that way till the kids stop squealin. When I chase them, he stands between me and them. He barks at the doorbell, then lays down. I had a German Shepherd that would eat you on site, NEVER my pits, look at my facebook page, they lay on him, tug on him.etc. Not the breed, the owner

pit bulls are great dogs but its in there blood to be aggressive. friends of mine had a pit bull with young kids never was aggressive and one day it snapped and bit a kids head and got lock jaw an wouldn't let it go.

Seven years ago I HATED pit bulls and pit mixes---until one stumbled into my life and I discovered for MYSELF what outstanding, loving companions they are in the hands of responsible owners who take the time to learn about them and who understand that certain precautions need to be taken. Dog aggression, high prey drive, etc., can be issues. If you want a dog to take to the dog park forget about pit bulls. If you don't want a "yapper" forget about little dogs. Learn before you get ANY dog!

They tested her first before accepting her, as they test EVERY dog that applies to join. My dog loves other dogs, she's always really excited to see her "friends" on Tues and Thursdays.

These dogs have fighting and killing instincts, although rare they can snap because they are a very instinctual reliant animal, and when they do snap, they will cause a lot of damage as they have been bred for fighting, they will not stop until they die its just how they are. We and our whole clan here love these dogs and are looking to get into raising ambassador dogs and helping to purify some of the bloodlines drifting around here. A child should never be left unatteneded with ANY dog ANY size, that is not being a responsible parent or pet owner. @qsbird I have looked into their breed, they were bred specifically for bear baiting, bull baiting, and fighting. The "pit" in pitbull is in reference to fighting in the pit. Regardless of how you train a dog they have inherit breed specific traits they exhibit, collies have a natural instinct to herd, even if they've never been trained to do so in their life. It is HUMAN'S fault for creating a breed for violent and immoral reasons and they should cease breeding them for domestic ownership.

Even within the terrier family you have the toy russki terrier which is miniscule 3 to 6 pounds bred for killing rats. Pitbulls were bred for fighting, fighting is no longer socially acceptable so the breed should be culled. It's sad but meat heads like you have flocked to the breed and have ruined it for all the decent responsible owners out there.

Of course a chihuahua will have a weaker bite because its muscles are smaller. however taking into account the difference in size, a pit bull's bite is not significantly stronger than a chihuahua's bite would be were it the size of a pit bull or vice versa.

@seere3rd Temperament comes into play, pit bulls were bred to possess great tenacity. They'll bite down and refuse to let go unlike most other breeds of dogs. Just like collies naturally herd other animals, it's an inherent trait. Pitbulls were bred for bear baiting, bull baiting and fighting. Their temperament reflects those roles. While obedience training might curb some of their tenacity, it only does so much, and most owners don't bother to spend the extra money and time to do so.

It has been made to have an extremely powerful bite, people have had to kill these dogs to get them off, they will no let go because its what they have been made for. They will have a much stronger bite than that of a chihuahua if it was the same size because that breed does not possess the same structural traits as a pit bull.

As I posted on another link, I have had many pits. The only aggression is when I grab up one of my kids and turn into the tickle monster...they squeal, my 70lb white pit comes runnin, ears back, hair up, growling. Stays that way till the kids stop squealin. When I chase them, he stands between me and them. He barks at the doorbell, then lays down. I had a German Shepherd that would eat you on site, NEVER my pits, look at my facebook page, they lay on him, tug on him.etc. Not the breed, the owner

Ok @YouToobWatcher3 you are the reson that this video was made because you are as bad as the "Drug Dealing Pot Heads" who think it is funny to watch two dogs fight till one of them is dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you sould go down to your local pound and ask them to visit with the Pit Bulls they have, and most of them will be in one area that is called "death row"!! it's funny because even an abused pit could learn to love again. My pitty Baby is proof, through the torment she went through, and the jerk who owned her, she fought through that. The Jerk literally sliced her, and yet she didn't even think to bite, even for self defense. If you can call a pit a monster after that, then you are the true monsters. They do nothing but show their love, and it's time we do the same.

My mom made me put my pit down becasue he bit my moms bf and he had to get several stiches. He only did that because he was beating my mom and my pit took him down and pit him. She told me he was to dangerous of a dog if he was gong to bite people. :'( I miss you O.G. RIP

@MaximumRide61 Thats truely sad that dogs are smarter than some people. Did you know that apbts some how can tell when when they need to protect their family. They have some innate ability to do this more than any other breed. Once my mom was walking my apbt abby who is a lover of all people, this guy was shadow boxing on the other side of the street. He saw them crossed over immidiately putting my dog on guard. She stopped gave a hard stare and a low growl. Only time she ever growled at anyone.

No, you need a head injury. Pitbulls are useless. They cant guard for shit, they cant track for shit, they are not good off leash and take alot of time to train. You better off getting a dutch shepherd or GSD, rottweiler ect... Owning a pitbull is like getting a harley davidson, they can cost you alot of money to own, and your not going to win anything, except maybe if your pit attacks a small dog, that is what they like to do.

my pitbull just turned one year old :) hes 98 pounds... and he thinks hes a cat. ive had dobermans, german shepards and for some reason i ended up with a begal... pitbulls may not be the smartest dong out there, but there the most loyal and the most fun to have around, one things for shure, i dont have to lock my doors at night :)

pit bulls are great dogs but its in there blood to be aggressive. friends of mine had a pit bull with young kids never was aggressive and one day it snapped and bit a kids head and got lock jaw an wouldn't let it go.

Seven years ago I HATED pit bulls and pit mixes---until one stumbled into my life and I discovered for MYSELF what outstanding, loving companions they are in the hands of responsible owners who take the time to learn about them and who understand that certain precautions need to be taken. Dog aggression, high prey drive, etc., can be issues. If you want a dog to take to the dog park forget about pit bulls. If you don't want a "yapper" forget about little dogs. Learn before you get ANY dog!

@dollyrocker98 My 3 year old female pit goes to doggy daycare twice a week and runs all day with all the other dogs . . . it's not the breed, it's the individual dog's temperament. They tested her first before accepting her, as they test EVERY dog that applies to join. My dog loves other dogs, she's always really excited to see her "friends" on Tues and Thursdays.
