That's just it, he didn't do anything. They "awarded" him the prize based on what he says. Like others have pointed out, he's a very good speaker, but that's it. I really think it's based on him "changing" history. Since he's the first black President, and he's said some things that can motivate people, he was rewarded for that. Which is absolutely insane. He hasn't done anything for the Economy or the War and he won't. He runs his mouth saying the right things just like how he got voted in.

I never said that our system is better than nationalized healthcare, in fact, I know it's not. But just because something is a little better doesn't mean it's the best way to do something...Why can't they afford healthcare? Because of the insurance companies, not because the government doesn't give it to them for "free". Regulation and an insurance-free system would be much more cost-effective. I think he was mainly awarded for correcting a lot of foreign policy mistakes that Bush made, like actually communicating with nations we have a problem with instead of just going to war. I don't think he should have been awarded it, but I congratulate him on the honor. I hope that him getting this award will further prevent him from going to war with Iran. After all, how could a Nobel Peace Price laureate actually go to war?

Well first off the Nobel Peace Prize is not given as part of a contest. The nominees don't even know they are nominees until they either win, or 50 years after the winner is announced.
Second, our President, is the only world leader thus far to make strides in ridding the world of Nuclear Weapons. So much so, that he is the only US President to be considered to speak at Hiroshima's annual rememberance and mourning of the dropping of the Atomic Bomb.
He also got the US moving on closing GITMO!

Back in the day of Martin Luthor King Jr and Nelson Mandela, the Nobel Peace Price actually meant something. FYI, I'm an atheist and support Obama. Mandela and Luthor King were in fact awarded Nobel Prize for their accomplishments. Go read some history books! Obama is potentially transformative (why I voted for him) but is still the freshman in college, so to speak.

I found out he won yesterday early in the morning, so I soon told a friend of mine and he was so pleasantly shocked, looks at me and says " we'll, he really deserves it, you gotta admit ".
at first, I thought he was joking. turns out he wasn't.

The Nobel Committee awarded Obama the prize. There is no other way in which one could 'win' the award. The Nobel Committee is not an American institution. It has little to do with American politics.
