social workers aren't robots and a lot of them don't have the passion for their job after 10 or 15 years into it. they become jaded because the work never stops and people dont treat each other any better even when there are so many more options out there

Maxine should not have informed Amy the way she did. She can be cruel in the manner in which she is inconsiderate. One of the interesting things about the show is Maxine's flaws as a mother and as a person. She is harsh and she can be too demanding and she never apologises.
