I regret FL studio hasn't got more send channels and editing audio clips can be pretty annoying since you have to each time create a new file when applying changes. Also I miss offline processing, but the workflow is very intuitive, big plus for FL!

Your bassline is not bad, could be more bassier, detect resonant frequencies and notch them which would result in giving more punch. Also nexus is in my opinion not a very creative way to make one

FL is best for talentless n00bs who wanna make hip hop. No one is saying you can't make good songs with it... it's just that other DAWs are years ahead in terms of efficiency. The only good thing about FL is the piano roll.

FL studio is just as good, if not better than cubase.

I had Cubase 5 and theres hardly anything you can do on there that you cant do on FL. This excludes vocal editing and stuff coz iv never used that.

People say FL isnt professional just because its cheaper and easier to use, but the quality is outstanding. MANY professionals use FL to make all their tracks. Why? Because it's professional, its amazing.

In my experience from countless internet discussions since FL was first released, the only people who talk trash about it are Reason users and again, in my experience, virtually none of these Reason users have ever used FL or anything other than Reason for that matter.

I LOVE Reason's synths and effects but its userbase, particularly people who use it exclusively, have a massive inferiority complex and insulting FL seems to be their favorite method of feeling better about their software.

as a reason user, and cubase and live and FL and etc etc, I have to say the quality of music produced in FL is lacking, and the real test of the product is the fact that the majority of electronic musicians and producers no longer use it. I started out with FL, as most folks in production, but there is really no comparison to reason. Of course, reason is NOT a very good program either, when you compare it to Live or Logic or Cubase, its just handy for getting ideas out quick.

Unlike "beatsanctuary" I watch tutorials and peoples work to get some inspiration and tips. I am 35 years old and I also use FL studio as sequencer together with vst plugs as Nexus 2, Sylenth and Syntplant.. FL studio is also used by Deadmau5 (nr 6DJ in 2009) , ATB (nr 11 DJ in 2009), also some other top DJ and producer names like Daniel Kandi, Laidback Luke. In the end, It's the ear, not the gear...unlike what a first class wanker like "beatsanctuary" thinks..

Do you know why when i installed nexus there was no categories or presets? Perhaps i could make my own dance music if i had them ;( I am downloading a ten gig 'alleged' full-pack as opposed to the 180mg version i got earlier. Should that have the same list that this video has?

I got nexus1 version 1.4.1 and it say's: One or more sample file's (.NXS) are missing. Please re-install NEXUS or the expansion. The output has been muted." So are that presets for NEXUS1? and wich version?

Hey man, Nice "zippy" bassline there. I usually use one of a couple of bassdrums that I synthesized myself in audition (infected mushroom had a tutorial on it on their site ages ago)

anyway point is you should try and stay away from the FL studio standard drums, and you can acheive a much better sound by creating it *fully* yourself. :)

One of my favourite plugs is reFX TBLBassline.

Very simple and is low cpu eater.

With the right settings, good eq and some compression makes great bass lines :)

Nexus isnt a CPU hog at all. Its a ROMpler so uses RAM ro play samples..

Real Synths with ocalators etc.. use the CPU for calculations.

When you talk about 'you pros' using software. Fruity Loops is as competative as the rest of them. To name a couple, Basshunter and Soulja Boy use it to create their music. Although i'm not a fan of them, there's no doubt that they're good at what they do.
