As a Montessori student i have been taught that the child should be allowed to first "play" with the LMA alongside using the sand-paper letters. When they can recognise a few letter sounds they can then be introduced to this kind of activity where they are beginning to "word build" and eventually "read" the word.
Just wondering how fellow montessori teachers present this then if you cant read with it? My first presentation is getting the child to just take the letters out and put them back in to get them used to the layout and the feel of the letters,
then i take my first pink box and just say i take out a cat i ask the child to listen to the first sound of cat and to find it and place it beside the cat, i then ask to find the next sound and so on.
(ran outta space heres the rest)Then i say something like the sounds "c" "a" "t" make the cat, reading it putting my fingers under each sound as i say it. I would call that reading with the LMA. so if you cant read with it id be interested to know what way you present them?
Are you even a TRAINED Montessori Teacher, or a day care teacher?... you should know that when you give a presentation on the movable alphabet you should never READ the words the children are only writing with this material!... with all due respect, you should not be giving advice and posting videos on how to give presentations if you don't have the training! seriously!
Unfortunately, Montessori is not trademarked so pretty much everybody can open a day-care center and call it Montessori. Sometimes they call themselves Montessori teachers because they watched a few Montessori videos online on how to give presentations, but they don't read Maria Montessori's books. If this lady was really a truly trained Montessori Teacher, she would know that you are not supposed to read with the movable alphabet. Maria Montessori said so herself in one of her wonderful books

The striped mat looks so busy. It would be less distructed to use solid color mats, would't it?
