Clearly just pollen falling in the Missouri breeze as it often does. Sad that there is this much attention and fuss being made about a video that caught pollen. Even sadder that the first reaction was to associate it with the paranormal. Guess people will believe anything nowadays...

I took the tour with one of my friends during the early spring and it was really cool. We wanted to take the ghost tour, but ended up taking the history tour so we could write a report on it for english class in the following weeks...but anyway, i do believe in the paronormal/ghosts/spirits or whatever you wanna call it. I just dont think that this is somerhing like that. It can be debunked as too many things like a glare or something falling from the sky like one of those pieces of fuzz thats

Just took the tour Sat. April,16, 2011 and it was more intresting than I thought it would be. Our guide Mr.Green was excellent.. Can't wait to take the 4 hour tour.

I just read on the CVB website missouripentours (dot) com that there are more tour opportunities this 2011 season including a possibly limited, but overnight paranormal investigations! We hope to explore this more and it may allow opportunities to recreate this! by the way, I hear the CVB is looking for inmate or guard stories related to the location- if you have one drop me a message and I will get you in touch with the person collecting them!

Looks like a dove landing to me. if ya ever observed doves/pigeons coming in to land than ya will probably see the resemblance. Every detail is out of focus, so I can understand the "blurriness" while in flight. Watch during the slow motion you can see the wing tips towards the top of this "anomaly" an flap down during the "controlled-fall(flight)... I'm open-mind but FFS this is ridiculous!!! I guess it just goes to show how shut in most of the world really is... get out an enjoy NATURE!

that river behind the prison is lined with cottonwood trees...just a drive down McCarty street will give you a snowstorm effect when the trees are releasing their seeds.

This was only found upon video review. I did not see it as I was filming live. Not to mention it was a guided tour which I was already lagging behind so as to keep filming with less people in the frames, get more of the facility. Even had I had the chance to note it the ability to check it out may have been limited. I did take another tour and check out the area closer, but they were weeks apart.

cottonwood seed ? orbs will evade or show intel. looks like gravity and wind to me. I think its smaller and near the camera.I have seen real orbs. what trees are in the area?

As a child, I lived on Lafayettet St. across from the prison and my older sister would scare me every night, that the BAD guys werte gonna break out and get ME! And the lights were scary! Well, no bad guys got me, I bet some were wrongfully convicted. Now That would make a spirit dwell there, so sorry, if that's the case.

I lived in an upstairs apt. on E. Capitol st. directly where the wall collapsed and 6 prisoners were found hiding inside of the wall itself,..I used 2 throw "things" over the wall and @ the guard towers. Not 2 mention,..I have been inside the prison on transfers over 10 times,..just a refraction of the lighting.

This is a tough call ! I don't think it was a clump of lint, like someone else said, because it changed direction too much. If it wasn't paranormal, I'd say the most obvious cause would be a bug of some type. Bugs will certainly appear as orbs on video. It didn't seem to give off it's own light, as a real orb should. I think I'd have to go with the bug, sorry !

Appreciate the input! I have to agree with several of your points but fairly certain it is not bug origin. I should also add that the DEVA mentioned in the video also places this more than 6" from the lens which is where most traditional "orbs" take place. Again, not saying paranormal, but without recreation ability- can't be certain of anything!

I spent 17 years living at this prison. I am very familiar with its quirks and oddities. What you caught on tape most likely is just some clump of lent and dirt that accumulated and floated down to street level. Jeff Barmann #150072

Best explanation I have heard yet. Would that be common for the area? Thanks for the comment! Not saying it is paranormal, but curious. Would love the opportunity to recreate it with a control cam in the area for a while under similar circumstances. I understand no more cams on day tours :( Thanks again!

@April0610 Very good! I noted the rules said no video when I commented on this, but nice to see the guides are allowing! Hopefully 2011 will bring more opportunities at the location to not only recreate and debunk, but maybe to explore more! We volunteered with a "clean-up" day this fall and they are constantly expanding the tours!

There are many deaths at the facility, but I am not aware of any like you have described. There was one death of a guard, who not being allowed to leave post during a tornadic storm, was struck by lightning and then fell. However, it was not this tower. I am sure many prisoners may have dreamed of scaling "the wall" but up close and personal.. not likely they ever did and those who did escape, chose another method.

It's not lens flare or a reflection. The lens flare would move at the same rate that the camera is moving. And if you notice that there is dust on the lens moving at the same rate that the camera is. And reflections don't just appear in the middle of air...

Thanks for the comments! I have not ruled out lens or other contaminations, but there is some inconsistency of known lens flare and glare. However, it is difficult to get into the location for proper reproduction and they no longer allow video on the tours. However, if I could get 1-2 hours to recreate some variables it would be great. I do love to hear stories and accounts from people who have worked or lived there and again, appreciate the comments!!

Personally, I think it is the sun on the lens of the camera. I used to work that tower, day and night. Nothing strange ever happened at the towers but I have seen strange things inside some of the buildings. Housing Unit 4 and OPC were the worst.

I worked there, and for many people the paranormal is all staged. I have had staff members see ghost. One was so real the officer left the building to see where that inmate went to. Couldn't see him, he walked around to the corner of the building to talk to the tower officer about seeing the inmate. This officer was visibly shaken, because the inmate he was talking to at the time had also seen the inmate. Both were visibly shaken from the encounter.

As mentioned above, there are now video restrictions on the tours according to the MSP website. Amused by it, no, would love to see respectful redevelopment of the area, and more access for those interested for any reason, historical or otherwise. Mark Schreiber is a great wealth of information on the location.

I can certainly agree with the skepticism, but not sure on the climatic changes. It was a hot day, about 95 degrees, sunny with some humidity. Constant throughout the 2.5 hours the video was shot. This was about 1hr 55mins into the total video and we had not been indoors for about 15 minutes at this time so the camera was acclimated. Not to mention the facility has not heat/ac controls in use in the various buildings.

Wow I took that tour just yesterday and Deputy Warden Schreiber asked us not to take any video footage. My brother lived there for ten years as did many of my very; very good friends..I kind of get the feeling that you're amused by this and I hope that's not the case because this was their home & believe it or not they still miss it; I went to take photos for them...the real live people that lived there are the ones haunted; not the building because they took the ghosts with them when they left
