  • There is a lot of good movies out there set in these times and i simply love the book, but this movie honestly sucks. It is very boring, i do not like the lead actress at all and the events do not resemble the book.

  • What does Charles do for a living besides hunt?

  • Rupert is so sexy!

  • Kill me but I dont think Anne or Frederick are good looking. They are actually quite....common.

  • I can believe noone has talked about her falling; and him helpping her up; that is SOOO romantic! If that don't show he still loves her I don't know what does!!

  • I see it at the party; he was staring at her for a GOOD minute; hmmm....The way he talks about what he wants in a wife; tells me he STILL very upset/maybe even angry the way he keeps giving dirty looks to Anne. Why do people have to be SOO ignorant and not be aware of their suroundings; if they had be paying attention; they would have notced that she didn't want to hear/much less BE part of the conversation!!

  • god.... i hate that histerical woman

  • I love it when they first see eachother after about 8 or 9 years!! You can totally tell that they still love eachother, how does no one else see that?

  • @123abc13579op Im sorry I see with Captain Wentworth someone upset; but yes; he still loved her as the scene goes on; at the party. You see it!!

  • that woman is so selfish!

  • Anyone else think Louisa is butt-ugly in this version?? I thought she was supposed to pretty?! And Elizabeth is not pretty either.

  • wait why does Charles live in a small house but his family in a big one?

  • He is indeed handsome :)

  • I just love Jane Austen's works!

  • Wentworth is just so tall, I LOVE it!!!

  • i love moonlight

  • @shoobedoorocketship. Maybe it is Captain Benwick?

  • Frederick is ALOT harsher and more rude and ignorant of Anne in this one than he is in the 1995 version. I like Frederick in 1995 because he a little more kind to Anne which is something admirable. But he is awesome in this one too!

  • @hpetersen92 I know it SEEMED that way; like in the letter; he was just upset; how would u feel if someone broke off the engagement with u

  • Had the Moonlight Sonata even been written in the time this book story is set in?

  • @LisaMackXx yup - i asked google. the moonlight sonata was completed in 1801, persuasion was finished a few months before jane austen died, which was in 1817 :)

  • I`m quite disappointed....he is supposed to be handsome ;-s

  • Love the moment when they R trapped in a small place , waiting for the rain to pass..<3. Great minute for a first kiss .

  • I consider myself a calm person but I shrieked like nobody's business when I first saw Captain Wentworth, so pretty!

  • I dont understand the Story,,,help mee, pliiiis

  • @martineluv1 Persuasion is a novel by Jane Austen, so ...

    Maybe do a wikipedia search?

  • Oh if only! I want a man like this, seriously all the "real" men are in movies.

  • Oh my gosh!!!!!! I love Charles Musgrove SO MUCH! I swear, he is so animated.

  • Eek! I played that song once!

  • Personally i love the little looks that Anne gives the camera. It creates a bond between her character and the audience, i thought Sally was a great Anne. This is by far my favorite adaption <3

  • Wow. I cannot imagine how painful that would be O.o

  • "You know I haven't seen a pleasenter man in all my life than Captain Wentworth." Isn't it more pleasent? Not pleasenter? Is pleasenter even a word? I wish people would deel with proper grammar a bit more than they do. Or perhaps I am incorrect.

  • How does she not see him there when she's playing the piano? But then again, if she did it would ruin it. :)

  • the music is so beautiful, :) love this story, hope i find my own captain wentworth!!

  • oh, i love mary!! or at least, the way the actress portrays her...

she does such a fantastic job of being ridiculous, its great. :)

but anne has my heart, she's so lovely.

  • ...Anne's sister makes me angry -_- God, she's annoying.

  • "it is a perpetuous estrangement and tonight I am to be tested once more". - Anne Elliot

  • Ugggh I HATE how Anne stares off into the camera like she's looking into your soul! if friggen creapy!

  • For we may never become acquainted, it is a perpetuous set

  • "the worst is over. I have seen him. We have been once more in the same room. A bow, a curtsy. I heard his voice, and then he was gone. He has not forgiven me. I've used him ill, deserted and disappointed him. And worse I shown a feebleness of character in doing so, which own decided com dint temper could not endure. Once there were no two hearts so open, no feelings so in harmony, now we are strangers, worst than strangers. For we never become aqua

  • I'm so jealous of the women in Austen's novels...I hope that I get to experience love that's even half as passionate as this :$

  • Can you tell me what song is Anne playing when Wentworth is staring at her, not tha one the girls dance to.

  • @cryctalfairy it sounded like "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven

  • Not to offend anyone, but much of the time, Anne's sister literally seems like she's mentally disabled.......O.o

  • I don't like Anne and her sister's hair :/

  • what does mary mean when she quotes Wentworth :" you were so altared he should not of known you again" ? 7:57

  • @moviegurl16 it means she has changed so much in the past 8 years that he wouldn't have recognized her if they hadn't been introduced

  • Wow,ok I love wentworth & I know he is justifiably hurt & Anne did him wrong but he had no right to burn her the way he did @ dinner, that was just too cold & unacceptable

  • Ooooh Frederick took many shots at Anne during dinner

  • Honestly I think anne got the short end of the stick. I mean, as a woman, she already had very little say in who she could marry with a father and family like hers. And its true, wentworth had very little security of getting wealthier, or even staying alive...to be honest I'm not quite sure if I would have chosen to stay with him

  • He said it well.......& now that I know the end from the beginning.......: I'm happy with the results.

  • annes sister is so not normal...

  • @TheWandnj she sure isn't and ithought i was the only one who was thinking like that,

  • @TheWandnj yes, but if she hadn't been so complaining and kept Anne with her as much as she did, anne and wentworth would never have been thrown together so much and he may never have realised how he felt.

  • how i love that hideous sister ;-)

  • Ouch, that stings... I don't know who to feel more sorry for, Anne or Capt. Wentworth

  • My heart weeps for her...

  • The men in this one are handsome. In the other ones they don't have much going for them by way of looks.

  • Anne's sister reminds me of Professor Tralawney (Harry Potter) O.o ...

  • @BubbleyBeck now that you say it... yes she kinda seems like her O.O

  • @BubbleyBeck She ought to, she is played by Sophie Thompson who is Emma Thompson's sister who plays Professor Tralawney.

  • @lesababy Oh wow! That explains it then, thanks :)

  • this fredrick wenworth is very good looking but he doesnt look like a weather beaten captain of 8 or 9 years.

  • @shoobedoorocketship I agree; the actor that plays him in the 95 version; Ciarion Hinds looks the part more; but they BOTH are handsome!!

  • anne is considered an "old maid", but in the book 4 men fall in love with her at some period of the book.

  • @shoobedoorocketship Captain Wentworth and Charles Musgrove fell in love with her for herself, Mr. Elliott for her money, but who was the fourth?

  • @shoobedoorocketship 4? Are you sure?

  • to be hounest i feel more for anne. she did what any women was expected to do at the time but she still gets the short end of the stick

  • LMAO at her laugh at 8:25! haha

  • Captain took some nice shots at anne during the dinner. Cant blame him though, i would have done the same thing , if i were in his position.

  • @shaqdaddy11 but you have to understand in the time this was written women where expected to marry as well as possible and those that did not could be cut off from there familys. with are modern wayy of thinking we could say that is unfair, but in the time this was written its jus the way it was

  • @luna1632 Yeah thats true, you can also see why her family persuaded her not to marry him. He had no fortune and during that time fortune was important, still is lol.

  • Oh Jane , you're the most romantic writer ever <3

  • oh how his words cut. i rewatch this and cringe each time. :/

  • Woah. Stop! Stop! My make up is running!

  • 7:45-9:02 if words are arrows, anne is probably dead by now...

  • The first moment he looked at her for just a little too long, you could tell he'd never stopped loving her.

  • i hate her hair -_-

  • I hate her family.

like i want to push them off a cliff.

  • Oh my God he is so cute!

  • If jane austen had lived in our days she would have made a big fortune with her books , not living such a poor life like she did.....................Time say everything

  • My heart aches for her everytime I watch the seen in which she speaks in her diary about him

  • 2:01 2:03 i think this look means... that his past with her come to his mind.......

    soooooo lovely

  • "Once there were no two hearts so open, no feelings so in harmony.

But now we are strangers...Worse than strangers, for we may never become acquainted."

These lines break my heart for i know how true they are , I have loved and lost. We grew up together and were friends for a decade. Now we can berely stand in the same room together , with half glance and half smile...the pain that beats within never stops ...for we are worst then stangers never to become acqaunted nor meet again...

  • moonlight sonata!!! she is playing moonlight sonata!!! i jumped in my seat, absolutely giddy...

  • It looks rather silly just 8 of them dancing, hardly the occasion.

  • Much prefer Anne as a woman to any of the Bennett girl's.

My kingdom for an Anne Elliot.

  • the casting in the 1995 version is closer to the books description, but this version is so beautifully shot and wentworth is pretty gorgeous one cannot help but love it

  • Oh the dramatic irony!

  • Heavy sigh at 6:29 :D

  • mary is soooo insane/wierd. I love it.

  • Comment removed

  • OMG.... really my hearts beating... when I saw that Wenworth saw Anne but how the way he act like he didn't care at all with her...

if I was Anne it will break my heart and scattered it into pieces...

but also I have to admit if Wenworth if damn handsome... ^_^

  • @ippoyo1 I think I would have been shaken too. But I'm sure that if Anne had bursted into tears Wenworth would have run to her and stopped acting like that. He loves her too much to make her suffer. That what's so sweet about him. OMG why there is no such men in the real world ?

  • Why is her hair like that? I'm just wondering

  • @PinoyAkoPh well, in those days that was appropriate, its nice i think. its not messy like nowadays people wear their hair.

  • @avpgm ohh ok, it just doesn't suit her i think. Ive seen pictures of her, it looks better with it down. O btw her sister is so funny! Shes not graceful but her comments are hilarious!

  • anne s sister plays verywell in this scene.they are always asking question to anne but never wait her answer.

  • 3:29 to 3:31....awwww :'(

  • Anne's sister scary me with her laughs.

  • Oh Anne I feel your pain.

  • What a wonderful actress she is.

  • The look he gives Anne, when Mary says "really, but Anne has never said a word about it" poor Anne!!! "....and tonight I am to be tested once more"....

  • @ghpoulsen

I noticed that too. He was not pleased. He gave her a similar look when his sister introduces them at dinner and Anne says "We met briefly yesterday." He is pissed. I can just imagine what he was saying in his mind - "Oh really Anne? Did we meet yesterday?" His anger is understandable but that same anger is what makes their reunion take longer to happen.

  • Anne's sister is such a nitwit.

  • 6:35, is Wentworth really there, or is it a representation of how he is on her mind?

  • this is hands down my favorite jane austen book. i freaking love it!!!

  • Oh Mary...

  • i cannot stand the sister's voice!

  • I really like the intense stares that Rupert Perry-Jones had Captain Wentworth give Anne when she wasn't looking. It's a clue for the audience that he's still in love with her though he is attempting to be indifferent towards her. When I think of good eye expression, I am reminded of the love stares Colin Firth had Mr. Darcy give Elizabeth in 1995's Pride & Prejudice, even before the proposal.

  • шикарная постановка. один из любимых фильмов

  • @sone4ca Я так и думал тоже, и привет из Америки:)

  • how nice shes playing moonlight sonata at 6:00 by beethoven...;o)

  • Love is susceptibel to change. There are those who are strong and those who are not. Ayone in love can be persuaded. The ones with a true heart are the ones that can forgive. I feel bad for her, though. It seemed like she really had no choice.

  • @Honoracharity18

    Some betrayals are unforgivable.

  • @policemanaa

I agree. I, too, am not a one of the strong ones. I can forgive....but I can never ever forget. It's probably the one thing that will take me straight to hell.

  • OH! THAT is shameful!

  • Oh Captain Wentworth!!! *sigh*

  • LOL at 4.37, everyones heads are bowed and there's Mary stuffing her face in the background without a care in the world...

  • Mamma, Mamma! I'm scared - that woman who plays Anne keeps looking at me through the camera!!!

  • "The worst is over. I have seen him. We have been once more in the same room. A bow. A curtsy. I heard his voice, and then he was gone. He has not forgiven me. I have used him ill, deserted, and disappointed him...Once there were no two hearts so open, no feelings so in harmony. Now, are strangers. Worse than strangers. For we may never become acquainted. "

    -Oh my. My heart.

  • @xXforgivemefatherXx

    Yes such passionate words. uh.

  • @xXforgivemefatherXx my tears too......

  • Why can't people speak like that anymore :(

  • @xXforgivemefatherXx i cried when i first saw this movie--that letter does it every time. been there, i think everyone has.

  • i love love love this story!! jane austen is timeless!!! i heard someone say once that jane austen speaks to women in a way that men can never understand!! its so true lik! amazing story!!! and i just LOVE the bit where he sees her playing the piano!! u can really see all his feelings for her radiating out of him!!

  • i love love love this story!! jane austen is timeless!!! i heard someone say once that jane austen speaks to women in a way that men can never understand!! its so true lik! amazing story!!!

  • i feel sorry for anne. Having to go through that. that would've broke my heart. I'm in the process of reading ALL the Jane Austen books. All except Pride and Prejudice. I've already read it. I LOVED it! Anyway, poor Anne.

  • 1:59-2:07

still makes me want to cry... T_T

i've read the book, a thousands of times

  • I love how he pretends he isn't looking at her... :)

  • @bhanshee75 - me too, it's wonderful acting on all fronts!

  • you did such a great job.I love this movie, and this version, maybe its really better than the other one(1995),and I adore the scene when freddy and anne met each other after such a long time. I love this movie.THANKS

  • The actress playing Mary is too much, she overdoes it big time

  • can I have a Captain Wentworth of my own? =(

  • There is so much strained agony in this movie .

  • Frederik being petty. Love the music here.

  • I love how they show their history and emotions by glances. Awesome.

  • All I know is that I was definitely born in the wrong era.

What happened to sideburns, beautiful long dresses and manners?

  • The movie and storyline is wonderfully entertaining but a lot of you guys are saying you 'born in the wrong era'. HELLO, chances are if you were born in those days you wouldn't be as wealthy and surely the chances of romance & or love would be slimmer-most likely you would be married by the time your 18 to a man that is atleast twice your age(u know how they like em young) who hopefully works a 1/2 decent wage.

...but i guess thats why its wishful thinking your guys part

  • meeting your ex-lover after 8 years.... wew!! Wouldn't be easy to act normal...

  • Dang, that look Frederick gave an was so harsh after Mary said, "Really? Anne has never said a word about it." Ouch!

  • At 6:26-27, does she imagine she sees Captain Wentworth?? Sorry, never quite got that part. :D

  • @mickmeggie

I like to believe that he's really watching her play the piano. It seems that way, lol.

  • I have to say, I think I was born in the wrong era too !!!

I just love Austen, I did not think anyone could surpass Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, but I think Rupert as Mr. Wentworth is a worthy contender.

  • Aw so sad and beautiful as she plays that wonderful song, it fits so perfectly.

  • i hate how nobody else knows and she is suffering while they are being so f-ing rude and are like oh "he's so handsome" and stuff like that!!! makes me pissed off!!!

  • Wow, Anne playing Moonlight Sonata while Captain Wentworth is watching... incredible.

  • poor Ann during Wentworths speech about a woman who knows her own mind, that would have hurt! :(.. he tries to prove he's over her but ya no! he's not..always trying to sneak a peak at her

  • @rachelradar24 if he were over it, he wouldn't mention it,

  • @loxandra2312 exactly!

  • " Catch me!" ugh... I would have loved it if she let her fall and then ran over to Anne and kissed her lol :)

  • Is so Sad seen Ann´s pain ):

  • LOVE when she's playing the piano and he's watching her!!!!!!!

  • Such a great scene when Wentworth and Anne see each other again. Too much time has passed, and the right words were not said. Perfectly expresses the awkwardness between two people who once shared something beautiful.

  • Ok...um, Mary is mental. At least partly. I can't stand her, she must be emotionally ill or unstable. I feel so bad for Anne, she doesn't get a break.

  • it must be so difficult to look straight into the camera and put your feelings on a tray for everyone to help themselves!!!!and Moonlight Sonata is the epitome of sadness and loneliness

  • it must be so difficult to look straight into the camera and put your feelings on a tray for everyone to help themselves!!!!

  • @ CharmedGurl94952 it's the first movement of "Moonlight Sonata". beautiful piece :)

  • Poor Ann. Wentworth is ooh la la!!

  • whats that song she's playing at 6:00 i adore it!

  • @CharmedGurl94952 it's the first movement of "Moonlight Sonata"

  • thumbs up if you agree Mary (Anne's sister) is a crazy

"who sir is charles hater... "

*said in crazy, nazgul voice* --> "NOTHING"

  • thumbs up if you agree Mary (Anne'sister) is a crazy

"who sir is charles hater... Nothing!"

  • This is not my favorite of the Austen novels and made for TV movies.

  • and he said 15-30 ooooo sendin signals cuz shes only 27. she still has a chance! and wentworth is a pedobear goin after 15 year olds creepy ass motherfucker

  • stop crying bitch gettin ur journal all wet

  • that queer fell out of a tree hahahaha

  • Is it just me, or does this family (extended family though it may be) seem more happy and carefree than other Jane Austen films?

  • @AVBKansas Very true. They seem relaxed and familiar with each other.

  • Poor Anne, my heart goes out to her <3

    Captain Wentworth is beautiful!

  • I notice how most men in period dramas look classy, if not good, in their swishy coats and cravats ;D Even the men who aren't that hot look good D:

  • I love the actor who played Charles Musgrove much better in 1995 than in this version.

  • now don't be so cruel when you here but..anyone think captain looks like david beckam? xD

  • @Sanjiska

    no

    captain wentworth is better looking

  • @daishalinton Better looking than who?
