  • I do not believe to those ecometers. It's almost the same as fuel consumption meter gauge in BMW instrument cluster. For me the best "ecometer" is a fuel flow meter on fuel pipes and fuel return pipes and do the math...

  • what car get better mpg a 2001 mustang 3.8 v6 or this car? anyone?

  • @mpgomatic you said you can use it in any car newer than 1996, but i went to their website and the oldest year i saw was 2003 for compatability

  • @gore21best Yep. That's why I added the annotation to the video a while back. Check 0:30 ...

  • are those things acctually as accurate as the one's that would come with the car

  • thats nothing like how i ride a bike....

  • i recently got the ecometer...any probs with the intense summer heat beating down on the ecometer?...the unit is hard to even

touch after getting back in the car...can't be good for the functionality...

  • obd-ii only. not obd.

  • is there any way to make this wrok on like a 1992 car

i have a big 350 ci moter in my 92 full siz van and this would be use full

  • @bubbasmiles Your best bet with a '92 is to find a good old fashioned vacuum gauge. Take a look at the Auto Meter 2337 Auto Gage.

  • you shore thats a S E, that thing accelerates quick for a heavy car with lowish bhp figures for a muscle car??

  • LOL looks like a boost gauge

  • Here in Florida I would never have to touch the gas because we don't have hills :P

  • i used one on my Hemi police car 28 mpg highway when im crusing

  • i think the same things when im driving

  • Just imagine what this thing will read in my Yaris!

  • @DasMidnightDrifter i doubt it goes into triple digits

  • Is that blue stuff blu-tack that's used? Where can I purchase it locally? How does it hold up in hot and cold temperatures?

  • On the video the guys says all cars with a OBD port newer than 1996, but on the auto meter site is says my 2003 camry is not compatible and most cars before 2007-2008 dont seem to be compatible. What is the truth??

  • this video says it's compatible with 1996 and newer vehicles, but it is not compatible with my 2003 toyota tacoma.

  • @brgroom

It is compatible with OBD2 vehicles that have CAN type signal. Selected cars and trucks built form 2004-2007 and all 2008 and on.

  • Where can I get one in the UK ?

Does anyone export these to the UK ?

  • Nice review. I'm def. thinking about getting one for my smart. It would be interesting to see a review that showed the "average mpg" setting in action. Thanks!

  • Word of warning. When not in use unplug the ecometer from the ODB port or the ecometer will drain down your battery. I learned this the hard way! I also have a Challenger SE and I have been averaging 26 - 31 mpg highway depending on traffic conditions. Not too shabby..............

  • Hey, uhh are one of these Ecometers available in canada?

  • Jegs has it.

  • Summit Racing has it too!

  • is there a way to get it to use it with a pre 1996 vehicle im thinking to use it on a 1993 lexus ls400 is there an aftermartket adaptor etc etc?

  • It's not a case of just the adapter.. it's the signalling used by the older cars.. ODB1 etc.. just not compatible at all.

  • Ya think? The Ecometer is built in the USA and is half the price of the ScanGaugeII ...While it doesn't provide all the detail (and the error codes) that the ScanGauge does, the Ecometer is a great solution for most folks.

    I like 'em both.

  • I just placed an order on one. I'm planning to use velcro to mount it in my 2005 Grand Caravan and 2009 Smart ForTwo Passion. I will be transferring the gauge between these two cars hence the velcro setup.

  • ignorance is probably bliss with the economy of this car lol

  • You must be feeling really happy right now, Bmtimv. :) Using the Ecometer, I was able to score an easy 30 MPG highway with the V6 Challenger SE. For a big comfortable car, that's not too shabby.

Once Chrysler bolts one of Fiat's clean diesels under the hood, I'd expect to see it well into the 40s on the highway.

  • Hopefully we will get those, it will be a hurtle to meet cafe emissions standards but I don't see a cheaper way to achieve high mpg.
